dl the 1.11mb then open it.. it will install the correct driver that suit u.. is safe dl from there..

if you going to use this laptop to do 3d work for most of the time,
you should get a workstation laptop eg: dell precision which having nvidia quadro graphic card (very expensive) or laptop with ATI Fire GL
you mention you are considering XPS, but XPS is also just a multimedia / entertainment laptop,
the graphic card inside (nvidia GT series) also more to gaming.
why don't just get DV6-6001TX like some other people here? instead of XPS ?
don't worry about Radeon card compatibility for 3dmax / maya, these issue are happen very long time ago.

personally i like this laptop so much, i am using this laptop 50% for work (graphic / video / little bit of blender) 50% for gaming / entertainment.
before that i am also consider return the laptop to HP because of i cant manual switching the graphic card
(i am forcing to use blender with intel graphic device, this should be happen to be same with maya and 3d studio max),
but after many consider i decide to keep it and pray everyday that hp will give me manual switching in near future. lol

bro -,,- we don't have these configuration even before update it to 11.6 ,
but i admit after update to 11.6 i notice some setting are disappear in gaming tab, but i am not sure

and i want to ask you did, HD6470 and 6770 are using same driver?

haha the reason why I look to these models is because of the price range/budget constraint only. For solely work purposes, Ive a professional desktop at home already so thats ok. Just wanted a laptop as my work companion..when Im at the office I can just continue some of my personal work and then bring back and continue work on it on my home desktop..

Just my main concern is that I cant fully use 3dstudio max and/or Maya with this hp laptop and the hd3000 card

choose ur spec > dl the 1.11 mb > use the s/w to dl the actual driver > install the driver > restart
dun panic.. now if everything ok try enable other option.. rmb run regedit as admin & end process the CCC.exe & MOM.exe b4 edit regedit..

here's what you do, go into your CCC and head over to Information>Software

Copy the 2D driver Path to a notepad so you would see which registry to edit.

For some it maybe: :/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/Class/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0000
For others it maybe: /MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/Class/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0001 etc.

Check CCC first.

Next, click on the start button and in the search box type the word: regedit. Select regedit by right clicking on it and select "Run as Administrator". Goto: /MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/Class/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/000[X] (X denotes whatever CCC 2nd Driver File Path tells you) & locate and change the following (right click on it and select modify):
-Change MLF_NA from 1 to 0 (MLAA)
-Change SurfaceFormatReplacements_NA from 1 to 0 (Surface Format Optimizations)
-Change TFQ_NA from 1 to 0 (Mipmaping textures)
-Change EQAA_NA from 1 to number 0 (New AA called EQAA)


Now open up the UMD sub key located:
/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/Class/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/000[X]/UMD and add the following:
Right click, select new, select string value and enter: MLF_DEF. Then right click on MLF_DEF and select modify. Enter 0.
Right click, select new, select string value and enter: SurfaceFormatReplacements_DEF. Right click on SurfaceFormatReplacement_DEF and select modify. Enter: 0
Right click, select new, select string value and enter: TFQ_DEF. Then right click on TFQ_DEF and select modify. Enter: 1
Right click, select new, select binary value and enter: EQAA. Then right click on EQAA and select modify. Enter: 31 00
Right click, select new, select string value and enter: EQAA_DEF. Then right click on EQAA_DEF, select modify. Enter: 0
Right click, select new, select string value and enter: EQAAMapping_SET. Then right click on EQAAMapping_SET, select modify. Enter: 0(0:0,1:0) 2(0:2,1:2) 4(0:4,1:4) 8(0:8,1:8,2:16)

No need to reboot, just press the windows key and letter "r" to open the Run command, type in MOM.exe Restart. And then boom you are done!

no matter how u change it will auto become 30 00.. dunno y but the important option is enable will boost ur performance.. since ur card quite good enable MLAA x2~x4 no problem OC a bit play dirt 3 with high setting is piece of cake..

If you need hydravision, download and install CCC 11.5b.
My Catalyst is from Stock HP > CCC 11.5b > CCC 11.6.

For 6114TX and 6108TX user i suggest to rollback to HP driver if you have problem with AMD official driver.

Joking la.. I shutdown the dGPU in linux.. that's why the sensor went sot-sot.

Yes, Goto AMD where you download CCC 11.6, there is an optional for you to download latest Hydravision.
