Hmm.. you should be able to get around 60mbps copying speed with USB3.0

Did the renesas 3.0 thingy running on the background? or you disabled the startup? Have you try to reinstall the driver?
*
Transferring a single 4.2GB .avi file, I get...

From laptop to HDD, 35MB/s.

From HDD to laptop, 75MB/s.

Renesas running in background? How to check?

Disabled startup? Nope, it's enabled.

Tried reinstalling drivers? Nope, never did.

I'm not sure whats wrong, your HDD to laptop copying speed seem more realistic and show that USB 3.0 is working. Can try to reinstall the USB 3.0 driver from HP website?

@louisfjh
Ok.. if you have any codec pack installed, try to remove it first.
Then install Real Alternative Lite 2.0.2 and Media Player Classic-Home Cinema. Don't forget to reset setting when u install MPC-HC.

I'm downloading this item right now. If that's the one, then I'll proceed to install it tomorrow.

I gotta get some sleep. yawn.gif

I'll make a system restore point before I reinstall Renesas's USB 3.0 controller from the link I found.

In Device Manager, under Universal Serial Bus Controller, I got 2 Renesas items both related to USB 3.0. So I think it's the correct driver. I'll try and see what happens.

EDIT: RESULTS ARE IN!

After reinstalling driver, I transferred multiple files...

From laptop to HDD: Max 50MB/s, Min 30MB/s

From HDD to laptop: Max 500MB/s (sustained for 1, maybe 2 seconds), Min 50MB/s

If transferring single files...

From laptop to HDD: Max 65MB/s, Min 55MB/s

From HDD to laptop: Currently unidentifiable; I transferred single files of about 800MB and it transferred instantaneously. Gonna try with bigger files later.

I just did a test on the transfer speed again.

HDD: Western Digital My Passport Essential

File: A single 4.2GB .avi movie file.

Speeds:

From laptop to HDD: Max 116MB/s (at the start), Min 66MB/s, Stable at 66 to 70MB/s

From HDD to laptop: Max 130MBs (at the start), Min 69MB/s, Stable at 70 to 73MB/s

Ok my USB 3.0 is settled then.

Here's a guide for future owners that are having the same issue as mine, i.e. slow transfer speed via USB 3.0 ports.

1. Run "Device Manager" from start-menu.

2. Locate and expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers" (mine was last in the list).

3. See what USB 3.0 host controller/root hub your laptop is using.

4. Download your driver here:

Renesas Electronics
Fresco Logic
NEC Electronics

*Mine is using Renesas Electronics' controller. I think every dv6-6114TX have the same controller but I put up all 3 I could find just in case.

5. Recheck your speed! smile.gif

can just right click it & choose update driver software?? must dl & install??
*
I tried updating it in Device Manager but Device Manager told me it's up to date. So I had to reinstall the driver myself.

By the way, here's something very interesting (to me at least). This will probably be the last and final push for potential dv6-6114TX buyers to grab this amazing laptop! drool.gif

Online promotion price: RM3799

Gifts:

1. HP USB 3 Button Optical Mouse - RM36
2. Beats Solo Headphones - RM999
3. HP Carry Case - RM0
4. HP 500 GB Personal Media Drive - RM215
5. HP 4GB DDR3 1333 MHz Memory - RM150
6. Microsoft® Office Home and Student 2010 Software - RM235

Total Online Real-World Price for Gifts: RM1635

Total Price for Laptop (dv6-6114TX) Only: RM2164

I'm pretty sure RM2164 for a laptop with such specs is a good deal, and that no other laptop with similar or better specs can match the price for the laptop only. biggrin.gif

The reality is, it costs like 300 to make the beats, 100 for the hard drive, 3 for the mouse, the office is free, and the ram is 30......so work it out and see who is being scammed when buying the package deals

You can't think like that. sweat.gif

If you think like that, what else can you buy? Most items being sold make profit. That's how the businesses sustain their businesses.

What I'm putting forward is that if you buy the items individually, it will cost you RM1635, which HP gave it to you as gifts. You get a good deal, HP makes nice profit. Win-win.

I might be getting this offer, it sounds like a good deal to me. however does that mean after the free hp 4GB DDR3 1333 Mhz memory, the RAM space becomes 8GB? or is it still just 4GB?
*
8GB out-of-the-box.

The free 4GB comes pre-installed. But there is one (maybe several, I have no idea) case where the laptop came without the pre-installed RAM. The end-user had to install it himself. But I think that's a rare case. icon_rolleyes.gif

What about my result for IntelBurnTest? Is there a standard score somewhere?

Conditions:

1. No cooler.
2. Air-conditioned room (23C maybe).
3. Laptop not running any other programs except IntelBurnTest.
4. HP Coolsense set to Performance Optimized Mode.
