Guys . Coolermaster U3 or U2 is more suitable for cooling down the DV6 ? I think U2 will be a bit too tight for DV6 ? Anyone tried before? Wanna get a good cooling tool for the DV6 .
*
I think most of them are using U3. I am considering one too..smile.gif

Does the cooling effect differ veri much from using U3 ?
*
I think it'll make much difference when you are gaming as the left palm rest can get quite warm during gaming. I'm currently using notepal infinite and although it has one fan only, I still can feel the difference when gaming with and without it.smile.gif

Guys, I am still confused. Do you look at the Value point , or the Maximum point? Do we not look at value point since that is the current temp ? Sorry but its a bit misleading LOL need a fairly good comparison.

@rurushu , yeah I am a bit worried U3 is big, but wouldnt the dimension of length on the DV6 longer than the length in U2 ??
Please let me know when ur DV6 arrive maybe can take a pic and show us the DV6 on the U2. For those who have U3 with DV6 can share pic also. Might help in the first page smile.gif

I think they took pictures before...but cant recall whether it's v1 thread or this...smile.gif

so i think i ned manualy change @@
*
If you are using 6114, it's auto switching, i don't think there is option to manually switched. So, some programs like photoshop, it will still be running on internal instead of discrete.

so mean only the list in the link can switch or wat???
then no idea i can draw 3d with radean hd6700 video card??? @@

I think for now, you can only use internal to draw 3D. Hopefully a patch comes out soon and you'll be able to harness ur discrete graphics...smile.gif

I found a solution for myself..

Instead of pressing the button on the side of your laptop, i go to my computer and double click the rom drive and the thing will pop out automatically....

Hope this helps

I tried and it works!!. Thanks!!:D

QUOTE(rurushu @ Jul 26 2011, 10:06 PM)
Hey Guys, today i went to the HP service centre (took me ages to reach there even though using GPS  doh.gif ) and i reported to them regarding my dv6-6114tx's overheating issue.
I requested them to reapply the thermal paste for me as suggested by members in this lounge. I managed to get my report to be processed as "express" because the service assistant told me that because my lappy is new (of course it's new!!!! not even 1 month old!!!) so i get the "express" service.
Then after roughly 2 hours, the technician called me and said the GPU fan is "very poor" and he will replace it with new unit....
Then i waited for it to be done and at around 5.12pm, it is done and my receipt there stated they have changed the heat sink and new fans.
I was abit  blink.gif  because i thought my lappy only suffers the high temp while playing crysis 2 is due to the poorly applied thermal paste.... but it turned out to be the heat sink and fans....  doh.gif
Total time consumed to send-in + process + retrieve = around whole day
Started from around 11.30am+ and ended with collection of lappy at around 5.12pm
Now replying this message using my dv6. Going to try Crysis 2 later, will monitor the temps again. Hopefully the overheating issues is over now....

A piece of friendly advice to those who think their new dv6 (regardless of what model) is kinda hot or the temperature is quite "abnormal" or swayed quite far from the members in this lounge, please sent it to HP service centre immediately for inspection. Dont wait because the longer you wait, the more your lappy will suffer. This is just my personal advice, peace everyone  icon_rolleyes.gif

You are using which model of dv6?

Did you turn on your 6770m GC instead of HD3000? I am sure Mafia2 works fine.

I'm using 6114tx. I din configure anything, it should be able to switch to 6770...

Things to check:
1) Windows power option > preferable High Performance / HP Recommended
2) CCC > Power play enabled, check with current power scheme/plan > change to maximum performance if is not.
3) Leave Mafia 2 open, goto CCC > configure switchable graphic > look for the mafia 2 executble and change it to High Performance.

I have done steps 2 and 3 but according to open hardware monitor, with mafia running, the 6770 is running but the display is still stuttering. I'm pretty sure it's not caused by the auto-switching as in my case, the switching works. Any other possibilities?
