Hi, I just signed up for UOB ONE card and last week, I got their statement asking for RM50 GST. However, I still haven't receive the credit card delivered to me.

When I signed up for the card, the sales person told me that the GST will be waived if I swipe 3 times. Not sure how true is this.....

So, should I pay the RM50 first? (since I haven't receive the card)

Is it I must pay the GST first, then only they will send me the cc? Is there such law?
*
Most cards are charges GST upon approval except maybe MBB a bit slow. When you mentioned statement, I guess you are referring to online statement. If you received your paper statement and no card, better you call UOB and ask them where is the card.

Got my VISA Platinum Preferred cards (prin & sub) last month. GST waived - pay first and got back rebates. No annual fee (waiver). Enjoyed 4x Plaza premium lounge entries. According to published rate - 4x 118 = RM 472 benefit. I love you UOB!
*
Are you sure you only get 4X entries? They have changed this benefit?

For UOB Preferred Plat (without Privilege Banking), there is a monthly quota of 400 per month - first come first serve basis. Offer until end of the year. http://www1.uob.com.my/assets/pdf/platinum...emiumLounge.pdf

Is Harvey Norman still given 2% for smart cash?
I couldn't find the listing of Harvey Norman in the merchant's list from the website
http://www1.uob.com.my/webpages/SmartCash/merchant.htm
*
ya lah, not listed, I thought we do get 2% SMART$ cash at Harvey. But for my case, I'll use MBB 2 AMEX and earn 2.5% equivalent.

Well, if you do patronize the merchants that offer discount with the UOB Lady's card, work out how much you can save. UOB One Card good for Petrol.

i call back the cs and she finally reveal that what is ment by 5 year free annual fee is:
1. free only for the first 2 years
2. after that can call to get it waived, usually will succeed, if not, tell them want to terminate, and they will waive it
very dissapointed with the misleading info given..change my mind..not going to apply...2 is enough (mbb2)
*
how can that be, Free 5 years means FREE, why don't you just email to UOB and see what they reply. FYI, all UOB Plat cards annual fees are automatically waived with RM3K spending and 12 swipes.

You meant converting your large swipe into monthly installment? I don't think UOB offers such plan.
*
You know what, I received a SMS today from UOB stating that, from now till next month can convert to 0% installment plan. Need to call their 121 number for terms and conditions. I checked their website nothing. Previously UOB got same type of offer but with one time handling fee. Anyone else got the SMS?

I just spoke to UOB CS, indeed UOB is offering me promotion until end of March to convert my transactions to 0% 6 months installment without any handling or Admin fees. And, I was told this promotion is only applicable to those who receive the SMS.

Want to ask abt UOB One card, for new applicant, how to waive the annual fee for 1st year fee?

As in website stated:-

The annual fee of RM68 for UOB ONE Classic Card or RM388 for UOB ONE Platinum Card will be levied.

So I need the pay RM68 once card issued (for 1st year), then swipe 12 times per year can waive for annual fee for 2nd year?
*
Nowadays, most credit card annual fees are waived for the first year. Same for UOB credit cards, 1st year is FREE and you may even get a welcome gift or some form of cash back to offset the GST.

Hi Gen-X, currently I have one UOB cc which is the UOB Prefered Plat. which I previously used for Premier Lounge access. NOw that UOB has take this benefit off I see no reason to keep it. Thinking of cancelling it and apply for UOB One Card instead.
Is the BT you were refering to a 0% BT and only for new UOB One Card applicant? Could not find any info in their website.
*
Bro, the new to bank thingy was stated by ronnie in the BT thread.

And for the classic one card, you have to swipe 60 times a year to waive the annual fee instead of 12 times a year.
New terms according to the customer service. Website is still using the old terms

What is the yearly spending to waive annual fee for platinum one card?
From what i read it is RM3000 with 12 swipes a year. But the customer service said the amount has been revised this year onwards to RM36,000 spending per annum for annual fear waiver
Anyone can confirm this?

What is the name of the CS and what time you call UOB CS? If above is true, many will cancel their UOB credit cards.

I called UOB to check if my 0% 6 months installment has been approved and you know what, silversuave is correct as for the 60 swipes per year. vmad.gif

According to the CS I just spoke to, to get the annual fee automatically waived:

Classic: Need to swipe 60 times a year.

Platinum: Need to swipe minimum 1 time per month AND total 60 swipes a year.

Of course the CS told me can always call in to request for waiver BUT I told the CS to inform the management that this new requirement is ridiculous. You guys should email or call UOB and let them know you are not agreeable to this new 60 swipes.

hi, i have 1 question, by using UOB one card. How many % rebate if i bought ipad at harvey norman using 0% installment?

0.3% or less than RM5 in total. I can't seem to find Harvey Norman anymore in the SMART$ cash merchant list. Too bad as last year we can earn 2% SMART$ Cash with UOB cards.

eh..just found out this thread.. i not trying to hard sell.. but of all credit cards i have..i have citi hlbb n uob i think UOB give the best customer service lol... they always call to verify new database on every online purchase i made. and now even better with sms .. i know alot credit card also using sms now.. best part not much phone call to me regarding offers and stuffs.

but citibank last time i kena fraud by others.. citibank did not verify i also duno.. until they call me to tell me my credit limit exceeded, but fair enough they did refund me after investigation..

and lastly i did not apply for hlbb some telesales call me giving good offers lifetime/free gov tax/ cash rebates end up i got nothing out of it  i also dunno why.. but nvm..the worst part is the cc dept pass contact around to other dept... alot of annoying phone calls.. but the pros is they keep upgrade credit limit

just sharing my thoughts thanks

Guys, I'm wondering. I will be working in Singapore soon. Will the rebate system apply to those transaction deal in Singapore? Of course it will be in Singapore Dollar.  hmm.gif

And also, if I apply supplmentary card, then will the owner for that card able to help me swipe the card to get the fee waived ???
*
I am guessing you are referring to the UOB One Card, here are my thoughts:

1. The UOB One Card is only good for petrol where you get 5% cash back (assuming that it is applicable for SG too).

2. UOB charges a conversion fee of 1-2%

3. Petrol cost more in SG than in MY.

In respect of the above, even with the 5% cash back for petrol, you'll be paying more in SG. As for general transactions, the cash back is 0.3%, with the conversion fee, you'll end up paying more once again.

So, you better do one or two transactions to compare the conversion rate versus cash.

As for supp card or principal card, the question should be the other way round i.e. does your supp card swipes count? And I should think yes.

However, if you have UOB Preferred Platinum, it earns you 5X UniRinggit in SG which is pretty good.
