Malaysia so far broadcasting DVB-T1. And well, you're right, FTA here is full of Gomen BS propaganda. But some times there's good stuff. And when there is (I.e. Wild Wild West some times back) the quality is even better than Assteruk SD and with no rain fade problems too. I think T1 here is transmitted in Dolby Pro Logic since the TV show Dolby symbol and say it's stereo on digital channels.

There is announcements that they're going to officially launch with T2. Just that the previous imbecile info minister rice keeps causing delay to the launch!
Thing is, I'm all for a new 3D HD TV now. Cannot stand the LG TV lagging on analog input anymore because I'm actually using the TV as a HD3D monitor for my consoles- the tuner is just a nice extra. Even sometimes HDMI will lag... And I figure if I have to get a TV since here is no such thing as a 32" HD3D monitor (no tuner screen) with four HDMI ports (and thus don't need external switch), might as well future proof it with a working T2 tuner...

But the thing is, the W804A series have made it to Malaysia. Although the price isn't cheap as per all Sony products...

Dunno, but I bet we're the last among ASEAN to switch-off analogue tv for sure.

Full upgrades of news graphics has been done for TV3, TV9 and 8TV since yesterday.
Before that, graphics is transmitted in 16:9 but with a 4:3 safe as they was still transmitting in 4:3 in the past until quite recent update that changes graphics entirely. I do post one in the past but at that time they are doing some tests on widescreen.

4K mode only use 20Mbps bitrate.



But....my system can't handle it....it choked halfway, aint buffering issue......

GTX970 and overclocked I5-3570K at 4.2Ghz for all cores.......

No hardware acceleration as it uses VP9 video......My gpu sucks......

VP9 codec on YouTube uses up to 8K resolution.
Officially, stream YouTube videos in H.264 is only up to 1440p only.
But you can still get the 4K/8K resolution if you use third party software to download the YouTube video.

.....6700hq IGPU HD530 supports vp9 hardware decoding....your low CPU usage 25% (1440p) and 35%(4k) is the indicator of hardware decoding....

Speaking of such high quality stuff....guess there is no hope for Malaysia digital broadcast, all current FTA players don't give a damn about broadcast quality.

Has been 16:9 since last few weeks. News for TV3/8TV/TV9 only officially switched into 16:9 yesterday.
