At these frequencies, a couple of metres of coax makes a bigger difference that tuner quality. I also doubt that any brand has put much money into the tuner, any higher budget goes into the video processing and cpu

A stack of moderate sized Yagis will give more gain than a monster single antenna, especially as 470-700MHz TV is too wide band for a high gain Yagi. Multi-bay Bow Ties also work well https://www.solidsignal.com/bowtie-tv-antenna-th.asp

QUOTE(joshhd @ Aug 6 2019, 11:40 PM) Why they need tender out to someone to assist them to carry out frequency restacking activities? I thought MYTV already know how to do those stuff, since they are infrastructure provider? Revised frequency planning has to be done, including the sequence of retuning by site. Then the transmitters have to be adjusted. The multiplex combiners have to be retuned or changed. MyTV paid contractors to install the transmitters in the first place, they have very few staff themselves.

QUOTE(truelife @ Aug 13 2019, 11:02 AM) Subang Bestari. Outdoor antenna is your only solution. Don't waste time trying all sort of indoor antennas because your place is: 1) quite far away from the transmitter 2) landed house Subang Bestari is not that far from the transmitters. You should have reception if you have reasonably clear path to one of the three Klang Valley transmitters, most likely Genting or Sg Besi as Menara KL is a bit too boxed in these days

QUOTE(Maxieos @ Aug 15 2019, 12:50 AM) The important part is whether will MYTV block build in DVB-T2 signal and force every user to buy their tvbox. As for example , : change channel frequency where most build in DVB-T2 doesn't have and only the MYTV tvbox have ... The TVs sold here are specified to receive MyTV according to MCMC requirements, so there is no way MyTV will suddenly start encrypting the FTA channels. Suicide for MyTV too as it would give MediaPrima an excuse not to pay them as MyTV job is just to carry the TV channels to the public. Retuning multiplexes is just a manual operation, which the contractor who gets the refarming contract will have to explain to the public

QUOTE(neokyo @ Aug 23 2019, 02:44 PM) guys, sorry for sudden question, but is terrestrial signal fully off? i mean i used to receive dtv with normal tulang ikan antenna + build-in decoder inside tv, but lost the signal several months ago. Not sure antenna booster kaput or what, the booster's transformer used to kaput before, i replace it and can use it back.. After that receive mytv package with satellite dish. now fully using dish, but thinking about reuse tulang ikan at other place. also because i lost the dish signal last week because heavy cloud (no rain), so maybe tulang ikan as backup. Terrestrial digital is on air. It is the old analog switched off

I don't know the long term plans for the K band satellite option, it was not part of the original digital TV tender. It is very expensive for MyTV to lease the transponders required and makes the satellite a single point of failure. Astro had to invest in backup satellite capacity

Balcony can easily be blocked from all three transmitters if you are on the wrong side of the building

QUOTE(kopitiam @ Aug 29 2019, 03:08 PM) this is vhf antenna. what u need is uhf antenna Nine times of of ten the coax is only suitable for VHF too (if it is not already rotted or full of water), there may also be a VHF only distribution amplifier This post has been edited by dayojah: Aug 31 2019, 12:10 AM

There are not many countries running 7Mbps HD and there is no standard for this.

QUOTE(capoi @ Sep 14 2019, 12:39 PM) May I know from you all especially who live in Kedah. Recently about a week ago, I'm experiencing a poor signal quality during rain time. I don't know what is the possible cause of it. As far as I know, digital tv shouldn't have a problem with rain. I use the antenna and decoder almost two years ago without any issue like this. Rain only has a small effect at UHF, but digital signal is an "all or nothing" system, where a small reduction in signal might take you over he edge if your signal is only just good enough.

The 7xx muxes will be retuned quickly, the Government wants the spectrum to sell and Singapore are nagging them too. Coverage will improve at the new lower channels. Many MATV systems will need low pass filters to stop interference from 700 MHz LTE

Genting aka Bantang Kali reaches up to Pangkor and even Sumatra. The Indonesia coverage is a real nuisance for frequency planning

Most of the VHF FM is only broadcast from Genting. This is a problem because Ampang and Melawati area is blocked by nearby hills
Menara KL was too expensive rental and is now blocked by surrounding towers.
The 50km international limit is a standard value used by the ITU, sensible in Europe but not here with so many sites on high mountains. International co-channel interference should be much reduced with DTTV, analog needs about 60dB stronger to make ghosts vanish while only about 20dB is enough for clean digital signal

QUOTE(joshhd @ Oct 2 2019, 05:14 PM) Thanks for the info guys... Really appreciate it. If KL tower is expensive to rent, and MYTV still uses it for DTT repeater for better indoor coverage to KL viewers, I wonder even if SFN is used, wouldn't it cause some interference if the particular viewer's location are able to receive adequate DTT signals from Gn Ulu Kali and Bkt Sg Besi, even without KL tower? So long as the extra transmitters are inside the SFN maximum size, they don't cause more interference An extra station at Bkt Lanjan would have helped in hi-rise KL QUOTE(joshhd @ Oct 2 2019, 05:14 PM) I'm sure as Malaysia goes ASO, this forces Indonesia to at least start switching off its analogue transmitters near to Malaysia and Singapore, this would make DTT frequency restacking process possible and coordinate with neighbouring countries. Restacking will only be possible when Singapore stop sitting on most of the 500MHz chunk

Wangsa Maju has a very poor signal, in many parts there is no line of sight to any of the three transmitters. Bkt Dinding blocks Bkt Besi, Manara KL is behind new towers and Genting is blocked by Bkt Antarabangsa

QUOTE(#Victor @ Oct 11 2019, 10:44 AM) it is irrelevant to me because i am not staying in Pahang and been years never watch analog TV. they just mass sending to everyone regardless he/she is a myFreeview user? Do you have a Pahang address on your IC?

As an aside, I have found that various government appointed bodies have got much better links to JPN recently. The Malaysian habit of not updating your IC address is going to be noticed.
