Ohhhh that's must be very close to Malaysia.

Btw yeah,

As you may notice, you will see a transparent "SIARAN UJIAN DTT" on top corner of the channel, it means "DTT TEST BROADCAST" in English. Malaysia's digital TV is currently still in testing phase, but still, many parts of Malaysia are already able to receive it without any major issues.

Both RTM and Media Prima did mention before that they will transmit its channels in HD once digital TV exits testing phase and officially launches.
And, Malaysia plans to shut off analogue transmission by June 2018 (Hope it won't be delayed).

Btw just asking, how's the migration to digital TV in Singapore now, since its analogue TV transmission will shut off by end of this year.

Most ppl are aware here, electrical shops selling TVs has Digital TV booklet (provided by IMDA regulatory body here) are seen everywhere, placed next to the TVs and most sets alrdy have T2 tuners. Also, MediaCorp chs also run trailers on air explaining the switch over. Hopefully, the switch off dun get delayed. The analogue bandwidth can be put to better use like improving mobile signals or other needs. smile.gif

I see... Btw how's Singapore's gov response of able to receive Malaysians TV stations inside? Or they don't bother about it?

Only a small pocket can receive it so they are not doing anything now, unless it reaches a mass audience. So fingers crossed, haha.

Digital TV bus shelter ad by MediaCorp to educate Digital TV. MP and RTM probably could do the same?

Thx for the updates ..... Even MediaCorp TV stretches 4:3 Images to fit 16:9, likewise the HITS channel, it's likely management decisions or preference, I believe

As for 16:9 programs in LTBX, possible reasons are 1. The program files were already prepared long time ago, hence they may feel waste of time to re-work the files again, or 2. The SD programs were provided by supplier some time ago and likewise, no point doing all the censorship, subtitling all over again for viewers.

Joshhd - thx for the Ad pics, interesting to see the volcano eruption "3D experience" print as. I agree it's irrelevant to digital TV and misleading somemore. Hope they can wake up and be serious about it. smile.gif

Below is the last para extract of the full article above. MP GM of Engineering talking abt existing struggles with HD:

While 4K/UHD broadcasting has gained momentum in countries like South Korea, Japan and Vietnam, other countries such as Malaysia, which is still predominately engaged in analogue broadcast, 4K/UHD is still too early for terrestrial broadcasters, said Dr Ahmad Zaki Mohd Salleh, group general manager, engineering, Media Prima.

“Although broadcasters in Malaysia will be asked to migrate to digital TV in July this year, many fundamentals issues have yet to be discussed and agreed upon,” he explained.

“Media Prima will continue its investments into HD facilities because 4K/UHD is still beyond our horizon for now. Keep in mind that going 4K/UHD is not merely about cameras, it involves back-end operations — such as networks, servers, editing systems — that are all required to be upgraded.”

Just sharing, Came across this at Fairprice Xtra in Singapore at JEM shopping mall in Jurong East. Claims they have the highest antenna gain of 39dB but not sure if it works for u. Cheers.

That's the way to force them to make the switch, just hope they stick to the deadlines and not extend again.
