QUOTE(joshhd @ Oct 1 2019, 09:13 PM) That's because you're receiving analogue channels from Gunung Ulu Kali transmitter, located at Genting Highlands, where its coverage was primarily meant for Pahang state. Actually, not quite. Ulu Kali is meant for both Western Pahang and Selangor, which is why you see most non-RTM national stations broadcasting for Klang Valley state their frequencies for it as those beaming from there - e.g. Lite FM 105.7. Menara KL is used to penetrate high density high rise areas within KL. Even when Metrovision started, they had only one transmitter, the one at Gunung Ulu Kali. I remember in uni near Ipoh we would crowd at the dorm's TV room to watch a grainy Metrovision. haha. If not mistaken Ulu Kali is the highest location for TV radio transmitter in Malaysia, and being a DXer I have traced its signals to as far as Taiping, Lojing, Segamat and Kuantan. QUOTE(langatian @ Oct 2 2019, 08:09 PM) I am able to received Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) transmitted in Dumai at 90.6Mhz and local Medan radio at 92.4Mhz. Even suprising able to receive Telkomsel which is Indonesia Telco. All location in Genting Highlands. Not surprising really - electromagnetic waves "travel upwards" the farther they go, due to curvature of the earth. Was and still able to receive Radio Yala on FM95.0 in Lojing near Cameron Highlands, specifically at the parking lot of the Lojing mosque

QUOTE(darrenboy @ Oct 19 2019, 11:28 AM) I no longer can view any tv channels. My tv is Samsung DNIe and model LA32r71BAX. I stay in an apartment. Apartments usually have a wall aerial socket. 1. Is my TV digital tv? 2. If yes, do I need the apartment management to install a master aerial or something? Or, do I need an outdoor aerial? Or, can an indoor aerial suffice? 3. If no, I suppose I need to buy a decoder. With a decoder, do I still need an outdoor or indoor aerial? Your kind advise please. Thanks. 1) I don't think so - it's a very old model. 3) Yes. The decoder now does the "signal catching" job instead of your TV which is now basically just a display. An antenna is therefore still required for the decoder to be able to do its job.
