I was following this thread. I was in KL (Bangsar) for a week in May last year. I've tried to connect the tv in the airbnb accomodation to a dvb-t2 decoder that I bought in Bangkok. Using an indoor antenna, I could get signal on UHF 666MHz. Reception is marginal, signal lost sometimes happen.

By the way, I've found a website that listed malaysia digital tv transmitters on map:

thanks.
disappointed with the amount of transmitters. cry.gif

37E is overrated for area within 25km of tower location.
*
Not overrated for people who stay far from City/town. If you look at the Kuching transmission, you'll die. The tower is at a mountain far far away in the jungle. It's like kl people getting a tv signal that's broadcasted from Genting.

For Selangor, where's the transmission other than KL tower?

Hi All Sifus,
I just bought a DVB-T2 and connect my decoder to my condo antenna socket with the RF cable(both end same) but still unable to find any channel but my neighbor was able to watch the channel so it is not the problem of our master antenna. Any idea what's wrong with this?

Had call the condo technician who install the master antenna, he said using the black RF cable not as good as the Astro type cable. Is that true? By the way if he come to do the setup, will charge rm65. Is it reasonable price pls?
*
what dvb-t2 decoder box is your neighbor using? hmm.gif

I often read this forum and I notice you are very positive to Malaysia Digital TV Station. Haha!

Since 10 years ago Malaysia Digital TV Station is bad, now still bad. How many years need to wait?

At least please be same quality as what Singapore provide.
*
probably another 20 years. Just look at the amount of 4:3 content.

can the antenna be installed in the attic area, under the shiny metallic sun film? does it block tv signal a lot?

my antenna placed at the car porch (antenna under balcony), via a shorter cable, gives stronger tv signal (@ 90% signal) than having placed at 1st floor balcony, via house internal wiring (antenna under the sun, out of the roof) (@ 60% signal). doh.gif Both wiring are RG6U. I guess too much transmission loss if I use internal house wiring. doh.gif

90%/60% signal power or quality?
If it's signal power... Then u only need a indoor antenna.. With short cable..
*
Indoor antenna doesn't work in my house. My house is a Faraday cage. Even cellular phone no signal.
Is coax cable total resistance of 5 ohm too much? I just short the core to shield on one end and measure using multimeter from the other end.

My living room wall outlet has this port: Shneider MX600 / MTN466097.

I did continuity check from this to the RG6 cable end at the rooftop. Only the top male threaded F-connector has continuity to the cable end at the rooftop (total resistance is about 5 ohm, measured using normal multimeter by shorting the core to the shield). The lower 2 bellinglee ports don't have continuity. confused.gif I thought all 3 ports are in parallel. So I connect my tv to this threaded F-connector, and get NO SIGNAL. Then I connect my tv to the lower left bellinglee port. OMG, it receives signal. Why the bellinglee ports doesn't have continuity and still receive antenna signal but the F-connector port get continuity but no tv signal? rclxub.gif Is there special circuit inside this MTN466097 that can filter the signal and pass it to the appropriate port, such as satellite signal goes to the F connector, and terestrial tv signal goes to the bellinglee connector?

Is it worth to buy a standard F plug to avoid signal loss?

after today's budget, not sure next week still have digital tv to watch or back to analog tv. hmm.gif

RIP my budget DVB-T2 box bought from shopee bye.gif
^ Hope it doesn't happen. Analog transmission is extremely tough to get perfect image quality - snow, ghost, etc. IMO, analog FM radio must stay. But for tv, it's DVB-S2 and -T2.

Sell it before too late. Just joking.
I think digital tv is definitely be implemented but maybe no more managed by MYTV, by other parties such as Astro or TM
*
TM will ask us to subscribe internet.
Astro will ask us to buy njoi.
People who live at area with poor internet will suffer. My area doesn't have Unifi, Celcom is congested (too slow to stream YouTube 144p), other telco poor signal. Dish - tiny Astro dish too poor for our weather. It also renders all DVB-T2 chip in all TV useless. Terrestrial TV is a government social responsibility, important to spread emergency news and propaganda. Hence, need a good company to maintain it.

Good point... But government can also use sms or radio to announce important news. May be analogue TV will continue forever in Malaysia. Who knows.

Can imagine those sellers who mass import tv stb. How they gonna clear stock? I'm sure business will be badly affected. Tv sellers also also having difficulty when importing tv, to import models with digital or analogue.
