Really interested to get SGS2 at 799 on launch, but my contract only expires on 8 July.

I called Maxis to check if it's possible to get SGS2 on launch, with the 2 year contract only starts on 9 July, they said it's not possible, I have to wait.

Don't you think Maxis is being really rigid on this? Or maybe it's the customer service officer being too stupid, I am looking for second opinion before giving up

As far as I know, re-contracting only exist for iPhones.
IMO since it is just 1 month away, you might as well consider to break/early termination of your contract. But please review your T&C before doing so - if breaking your contract does not attract additional penalties except paying that last month subscription, it might be something worth considering.

Plus, don't call Maxis coz the CS answers are based on a script. Best is always to walk into Maxis Centre.

Indeed, I don't think they know anything except reading from script.

The penalty is RM500 as far as I know. I'm traveling out for a month before my contract ends and when I'm back, I'll have to get the damn phone for 1399 instead of 799. From Maxis' website on contract extensions it says "If you are under a phone contract with Maxis (iPhone or selected smart phones), then you are eligible for a contract extensions. "

The CS staff didn't mention a thing about contract extensions and simply said that "it's not possible" without even checking.

usually maxis will say this.."get new plan with new number"

That's nonsense from Maxis. Why on earth do I need a new number? If I am interested to extend my current contract for another 2 years (which is a hefty amount), I would expect them to be a little bit more flexible.

Anyway, "MaxisListens" in twitter is dealing with me now and they seem to be more helpful to check out. If they still say crappy thing like "u have to pay penalty", "get a new number", "u have to wait", then forget it, I'm going to Digi

how much penalty should be paid if terminate before contract end?

Got an official answer from Maxis, they are willing to terminate my current contract with penalty waived, for me to register for another one (probably because my current contract is just too near to the end). So I hope I'll be one of the 300 on Wednesday wink.gif

Really WTF, got my leave approved, and my money ready, but according to Maxis I'm not able to extend my contract..really lol omg, they better have enough stock to cater us who wanna extend but was rejected lolx

Okay...actually it was just according to the fella who talked to me thru phone. I asked if that's a standard procedure and he said yes - it's actually not contract extension but early termination of current contract without penalty.

I hope when I queue up on wed the roadshow staff there wont suddenly say "Sir, you are still under contract and you have to pay penalty rm500" doh.gif
