QUOTE(Teng N @ Jun 21 2011, 04:05 PM) 1 year warranty only. However, the staff told me some batch under Samsung might get promotional 2 year warranty but no details yet. Are you sure you got from an SEP? ALL SEP should CONFIRM have 2 year warranty - it's stated on the Samsung page and is consistant with all other Samsung mobiles bought from an SEP.Just to confirm. Because it wouldn't mean anything for me to wait if they don't have extended warranty. And FYI, Seng Heng/SenQ warranty is different - the 2 extra years of their warranty is NOT with SME, only the first year. The 2 extra ones are with SH/SenQ. |

QUOTE(llk @ Jun 21 2011, 04:27 PM) Honestly if the warranty is concern to you why not u take initiative to call up Samsung or SEP to confirm & reporting here instead of rely on others answer which may doubted u. I have called and confirmed, that's why I'm a tad in limbo. Both KL SEPs (who have both confirmed the 2 year warranty thing) DO NOT have stocks yet as far as I've heard. That's why I'm trying to reconfirm with Teng N.And @Teng N, no that's an authorized dealer. Maybe the Muar branch have not been recognized as SEP yet by SME kot. The SEP in JB MIGHT have stocks tho, they're nearest to the ports. Someone go storm there now and check lol. EDIT: Just called AMS in Lowyat, they say they MIGHT get their stocks tomorrow. Not sure about Midvalley, but from previously gathered info, they're getting their stocks on the 26th. This post has been edited by Eiraku: Jun 21 2011, 04:43 PM |

QUOTE(vccy118 @ Jun 21 2011, 04:48 PM) sigh, that means I need to get it during my half day transit at LCCT next month. Samsung branches got many. The ELITE PARTNERS that they have so few of, plus I think they really should make the 2 year thing universal from any distributors. SEP can get other benefits like freebies or something.why samsung branches so scarce in Malaysia... Sarawak and Sabah dun even gave 1 SEP -.- |

QUOTE(yolk @ Jun 22 2011, 10:51 AM) NTFS support just needs a module to be complied and loaded. Downside is you need to load the module every time you need to connect an NTFS disk, for now. Most of my OTG usable stuff is formatted in Fat32 anyway so no issue.Added on June 22, 2011, 11:07 amAs for SEP warranty, YES it's 2 years claimable from SME direct and as such, all Samsung Service Centers, AS STATED on the SME website. @boomerdude: Try finding Sandisk Class 4 32GB cards. Class 10 cards are overrated and needlessly expensive.
And yeah, typing this from my very own SGS2 mateys. Having a blast but dun.want to cuatomize so much yet bcoz Villanrom will clear out everything anyway. |

Well, you guys can always go to Celcom. Not as fast, but dead stable and it covers the deepest darkest jungle (literally - I've tried).
But God, for alk the crap I used to throw at Android, it's not really all that bad. I had to mod all sorts of system crap to get a black keyboard in iOS, it's just a simple install in Android. A And iOS was supposed to be the "simple" OS lol. But UI wise, Android still has quite some while to go. Web rendering, for instance, is simply not as pretty as on iOS. Quite aptly, it's like browsing with Linux and comparing that to browsing on the Quartz powered OSX. BUT, like it or not, seems that Android gets the job done way faster and more efficiently. |

Aiyoo. Since when this thread become iOS vs Android warzone lol.
But, since everyone's going at it, here's my 2cents. Let's be honest, coming from "desktop" Maemo, I used to abhor BOTH iOS and Android. They were after all, cut down compromises made for the sake of being good MOBILE OSes. And then my N900 died, which forced me to go stone age with Symbian v3 on the E71 for a while. Promptly, the E71 died too (I smashed it out of rage actually, no fault of the phone's). Which led me to buying into the Jobs brigade, and in the next 4 months, I managed to hack the hell out of iOS - before I smartly got my i4 stolen. Which led me here, an owner of a brand spanking new SGS2. Honestly speaking, while iOS leads on apps, brain dead simplicity and stability, the fact that I can only really do what Apple allows it to do, even post-JB, has always been irksome, to say the least. Not to say that Android trumps it - even Gingerbread is way behind when it comes to UI uniformity which means that more often than not, even I have to stop to think about what to do next sometimes, which never happened with iOS, ever. And then there's the app situation, which - honestly guys - is still a ball in Apple's court. But in terms of tweakability and having the freedom to make the OS run the way YOU want it, running the apps YOU want to run, Android is further ahead then Apple will ever be. Though "half-baked" it still is, for now, at least in terms of the full user experience. I had to think and tinker less to make things "just" work in iOS. Even if - with enough effort - you can go wayyyy beyond making it "just" work in Android, I wonder if the population at large will ever go beyond the initial confusion and dump their Droids for the much simpler iPhones. After all, "they" want it to "just" work. We, on the other hand, want it to work the exact way we need it to lol. This post has been edited by Eiraku: Jun 23 2011, 09:25 AM |

Okay, preliminary testing of what I have to work with on stock firmware without ROMs and rooting - done.
As an iPhone 4 migrator, here's what I found. Things NOT in Android: 1) Something like activator (tasker comes close though, but no remapping of long press keys like vol long presses to track skipping) 2) Something like coverfl0w + backgrounder that works with Gingerbread (for aesthetics only really) 3) Something like action menu for URL shortening (for everything else, Smart Keyboard Pro is good enough) 4) SBSettings (the built in toggles are close, but not as customizable) 5) Air Video, as in THE Air Video. Things Android got I never had with iOS: 1) SMART FREAKING KEYBOARD PRO. This thing is awesome. 2) "Proper" alternative browsers - rather then shitty re-skins of Safari. 3) Widgets everywhere without killing off my RAM 4) Built in haptics (woo Samsung!) 5) Built in low battery mode (woo again Samsung!) 6) "Proper" email clients 7) Gesture locking that does NOT crash every few hours lol. 8) Statusbar notifications + that great smexy drawer Great Android alternatives for iOS hack programs: 1) Lockinfo -> Widgetlocker + Executive Assistant 2) Springflash -> TeslaLED 3) GoSMS/Chomp/Handcent -> BiteSMS And, surprise, surprise. Guess there ARE reasons why Apple could got so pissed with Samsung. Try pressing Power + Home lol. Instant screenshot? Wao, now what does that remind you of... » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Nao, to try ROMs. Litening or Villain eh... This post has been edited by Eiraku: Jun 23 2011, 06:29 PM |

And I got 6 hours of heavy-ish use out of the SGS2 with 3rd party browsers (which do not use hardware acceleration like the stock browser does = saves more battery life), which is not bad at all. Practical battery life is only slightly worse then the i4. Granted, I got through 15 hours of heavy use most of the time with my iPhone 4 + battery case.
But with my SGS2 battery case (and extra batteries) on the way + Villain ROM (if it really does save batt like people say), the odds should be evened out somewhat. And while I miss Retina sharpness sometimes (it IS noticeable if you surf sites fully zoomed out in portrait like I do), the blacks on the SAMOLED+ screen is just... so... freaking... black... QUOTE(Boomeraangkid @ Jun 23 2011, 07:23 PM) yes the casing makes it just fine enough to feel "something" mmm i dont know whether to flash villan or lightening Join me and become one with the dark side of the force, young padawan - flash villain. Also, for the SGS2 to become as thick as the Sensation, we need the battery pack - which gives us an extra 1350mAh of battery power to play with whooohooo. Can't wait for my battery case to arrive, ugly or not ugly. But seriously I have too many cases already lol. I got an S-line TPU from AMS, which is a GREAT case for the money, AND I have 2 TPU Epikcases + 1 SGP Ultra Capsule incoming (postage lambat weh). That's 5 cases plus the battery pack lol, sure have to sell off some. Had to settle for a crappy matte screen protector until my SGP Optics arrive though. And yes, it's crappy and my SAMOLED+ screen looks like a foggy mess. This post has been edited by Eiraku: Jun 23 2011, 07:54 PM |
