Nope. No SENSE for Samsung. But there are some similar widgets from 3rd Party Launchers like ADW/LauncherPro though.

Crap now I'm unsure whether to wait for the 26 and get from SEP with 2 years warranty (and giving up my current pre order + lose RM50 deposit) or to just get it faster from the pre-order.

Sigh.

can I please ask, the SME phone comes with 1 or 2 years warranty? why am I hearing/reading post of the partners offering 2 years? Are there any terms and condition for the 2nd year warranty?

please help me understand. Thanks!

My thoughts exactly. Anybody want my pre-order slot from SunnyChai?

1 year? 2 year? Darnit SME, just make ALL YOUR DEVICES, whether or not sold from an SEP, come straight with a 2-year warranty darnit.

That said, gonna try my luck with an SEP pre-order through some help. If the slots are full (or my proxy is unwilling), lets just get the 1-year SME warranty one I've already pre-ordered. Sigh.

Hopefully this time the darned thing doesn't get stolen like my iP4 so that the warranty will be put to good use.

Just hang in there guys, after this week the discussion SHOULD steer back to USING the SGS2 rather then GETTING it lol.

Myself I can't wait to go and flash me some ROMs myself.

it's not prohibited to talk about way-to-get & plan for this phone.. but the things is, RRP, where to get, where to pre order, the plan everything has been discussed and talked over n over.

if u read them, u don't have to ask anything about how to get this phone anymore. yet some people come in and ask the same question for the 10000th time.

share information?  ok i wanna share to u guys this forum named is lowyat.net. come on, i know this thread is fast growing thread, but do put some efforts, read the 1st post and at least read the last 10-15 pages before asking..
*
Well, do as I did back when I was the TS for the W810i thread and when I was active back in the Nokia 5800 thread. Every poor sod asking a redundant Q, just tell them 'Check Front Page!'.

Problem solved in one line, no repeated spoon feeding required. If they STILL don't get what they need, ONLY then do we help - or we introduce them to Uncle Google.

But if you guys thought this is bad, try hanging out in the iPhone subforum. I dunno maybe because the iPhone's simplicity attracts a larger sample of users, but try having threads locked EVERY FREAKING OTHER DAY due to piracy discussions.

And redundant Qs? A dime a dozen. People open ENTIRE THREADS to ask questions that ALREADY has stickied answers.

Not to bash them or to offend anyone - there are A LOT of good people in there really. It's just that if you think there are a lot of spoon feeders and lazy readers here, things aren't 1/10 as bad as over there lol.

Public Bank VISA debit card and AmBank NexGen Master debit card can. Register first with Google checkout. But I'm not sure about Maybank?? The one with cherries??
*
Confirm AmBank can use with GC. I've used it fine a loooooooooooooooong time ago to buy some stuff lol.

Faster my phone come. It'll be sad if the skin + SP + Air Capsule + DC Mugen Case arrive first lol.

thank a lot u guys..really give me lot information..one more thing..how about cimb debit card?..is it applicable like those card u guys mention..tanx.. blush.gif

As long as it's either a Master or VISA it should be ok. Tryla, but make sure you already have some money inside. Like PayPal, GC might need to charge and refund a few bucks for card verification. I haven't done GC in a while tho, I might be wrong.

Try this for improved music quality:

http://tinyurl.com/62wxz9b

Needs a little bit of hacking though.

And I thought the SGS2 supports FLAC out of the box? And really, FLAC on mobile feels killer to me - the phone has a noisy output stream to begin with. I wonder if it can do line-out, though with the Yamaha chip inside, I wonder if even then it's gonna be good enough Audiophile-wise.

But really, it's an Android WITH USB-OTG. Someone gotta hack a digital out for this thing. I mean digital out + a decent proper portable DAC + AMP = BAM! Audiophiliac enjoyment!

Some news for those wanting to use their SGS2 as a digital transport:

QUOTE
USB audio DAC with Android

I found a info about USB OTG host mode abilities of Android 3.1 at Head-fi http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/553541...host-mode-dac-s
most important -> http://developer.android.com/reference/and...bConstants.html USB class for audio devices.
So in theory Android 3.1 can handle external USB DAC (that'a WIN!)
Next Android - Ice cream sandwich - will be made for smartphones and tablets and probably (stupid if not) will also use wider usb otg functions as Android 3.1
This gives an opportunity to use Galaxy S2 paired with portable USB DAC/AMP biggrin.gif

Does someone have a tablet with Android 3.1 and a USB DAC to test that?

edit: what's more - GSM Arena reviewed Moto Xoom
"You get a standard microUSB interface complete with USB host functionality. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to use it before the expected Android 3.1 Honeycomb update."

If that worked with smartphones we could have top-notch portable audio quality!

Taken from a long dead thread at XDA. Full of drama BTW because the SGS2 ended up with a Yamaha (read: crap) DAC vs the Wolfson on the SGS.

I hope I can live with the slight degradation of SQ. Coming from an iP4, man that thing was MADE for music lol. At least to my crappy ears anyway.

Interesting read over at XDA about mSD speeds, sorry if it has been posted before:

http://tinyurl.com/3hxpzn8

Summary, Class 10 cards are NOT always faster than Class 4 ones. Sounds outrageous eh? But the thread goes on with testing to prove how SOME Class 10 cards - while being noticeably faster for sequential writes and reads (read: media file transfers to and from the card) - they are HORRIBLY slow for random writes and reads (read: Apps and other OS performance related stuff).

Seems some of the companies cheated a bit - slowing down random write/read capabilities so that they could achieve Class 10 rating (which is solely based on sequential write/read speed).

QUOTE
Bottom-line, If you want your card purely for transfer speed, (copying movie, music, and other files.) Get a class 10. If you dont mind waiting two minutes more, but getting a better in phone performance. I would recommend getting a sandisk class 4. Their speeds are comparable with other cards class 6 and they are the best in random writes. Im sure people can confirm my opinion. It's also better for your wallet!

Edit: Since people will probably want to know. There was no difference whatsoever between the class 10 and the class 4 cards in playing from and recording-to Sd with both full hd and 720p.

Good stuff for those aiming to get some cards for their new baby Velociraptors. As for me, I'm gonna try living on the 8GB card I have left over until my pay comes in (OR my dad comes back from overseas with the 16GB Class 4 he stealthily stole from me 3 months ago).

Last I checked Low Yat still stocks them Class 4 32GB Sandisks, I hope they're still there... brows.gif

Don't be so lazy ... even if u asked, the others will still need to retrieve it through the search function, why bother other ppl when u can do it by simply clicking it? Do you ever asked others to help you to wipe ur ass when u can reach the toilet papers beside u, in the toilet? common sense ....

Hahaha... Have you gotten your SGS2 yet mate? I wonder what wondrous craziness you're putting (or WILL put) it through lol.

I for one WILL NOT touch my CPU (except maybe some underclocking/undervolting if the battery life EVER gets on my nerves) after what happened to my N900 heh.

I was after all the first guy in Malaysia (as far as I know) to permanently brick his N900.

Anyhow, I guess I somehow fried my NAND/eMMC memory (and whatever else is close by to it on the mainboard). How that happened I have no idea really, but I guess I was undervolting my system a lil bit too far.

Plus the fact my unit had no real warranty... brows.gif

Not planning to go so extreme on my soon to come baby though, and at 1.2Ghz, I really find no real practical reason to push the limit even further up lol. Down maybe, for battery saving reasons.

Still waiting for the VERY SLIGHT chance that I MIGHT get an SEP SME unit.

The 2 year warranty MIGHT do wonders for the resale value, provided I don't let it get stolen like my i4 lol.

But looking at the ones already happy with their SME sets, I is the sad.

guys, i plan on getting case as well when i collect my phone, does the SEP shop in LYN sell any good casing brands?
*
No idea, but you'll prolly get better quality casings at a better price from eBay or something. Unless the shop has original Case-Mate cases for the SGS2 that is. What I do know they have would be the original leather pouch thing.

As for eBay cases, I know they have SGP (Quality) or DC Mugen (Cheap but good), take your pick. My first personal shipment of cases are coming - most of which I think will get sold off or something when I get my battery case later lol.

And I did a PreOrd from AMS as well. Let's see if they manage to cut me into the first shipment, which would be cool.

No idea mate. A few guys are selling SGP stuff over at Garage Sales. Case-Mate products (other then the iPhone 4 ones) not so sure.

Get the SGP Screen Protectors though, they are great as far as I've heard from my iPhone 4 days. Some even say it's as good as Power Support SPs (which I LOVE but is simply not available for anything other then an iPhone).

Ultra clear and the ultra optic s.protector what difference?

Here's a full comparison of all SGP SP products.

Attached Image

@gingerman2408: Yes I'm getting the official battery case. Yep it looks a tad funny but it should work fine, and IMHO battery cases is ALWAYS better then battery packs in terms of convenience of use. Main reason why I settled for the SGS2 actually, it's the ONLY Dual Core Android phone with a battery case made for it lol. And Exp? Well mate, it's about the price of a Morphie Juice Pack Air, so I have no qualms over here lol.

A shame PowerSkin doesn't have one for the SGS2 yet, THAT should be cheaper (albeit even more hideous). Well, I'll live with what I have lol.

Also, Try searching for "EPIKCASE" on ebay for the DC Mugen cases. That should help. Very good seller, I've gotten a whole bunch of stuff from the guy with no issues.

@tunasandwich: Esato AND Xperia blogs are - by definition - SE biased websites lol. Of course lar Arc wins. Try GSMArena for a better comparo.

From the reviews I've seen, Arc VS SGS2 camera is a toss up between resolution (SGS2) and low light noise control (Arc) IMHO. The Sensation doesn't even compare lol. Arc has good low light noise control because IINM it's using a backlit sensor like the one used in the iPong.
