I m in dilemma now. Buying new house or stay and renovate. This few month search for new house but the choice of my budget is not much unless far away. And dificult to get back the enviroment I stay now. But the good is I have a new house feeling and the new design.
While if I choose to stay, I have to renovate which the current house is getting old. My current house design is old but the living enviroment is good and nice.

QUOTE(weikee @ Oct 10 2011, 12:16 PM) Putting baton with glue and nails than wait 2 days before installing the wood. First day installing Weikee, may I ask why need those baton before install the flooring wood? Would it cause the flooring wood uneven after few years? Or quicking sound after sometime.

QUOTE(weikee @ Oct 11 2011, 11:43 AM) The batten suppose to be a better way, and is also the old way. If water spill over the floor, it will slip through the floor board and go down to the baton and slowly dry. This make the solid wood last longer. Without batten the solid wood will soak in the water and go out of shape. This batten is also hard wood (think is chengal can really recall), is harder than merbau. Hardwood flooring with batten installation is more expensive than just glu the wood flooring. Is this a standard way they (Wood flooring contractor) do? Or special request from you?

QUOTE(adrianjc @ Oct 12 2011, 12:22 AM) Think the info you got is a lil inaccurate. Generally, the batten system is used for tongue & groove timber flooring. This is to ensure that the flooring is installed on a flat surface. Flooring using the S4S type is installed directly onto rendered cement floor using nails to hold down the floor while the glu sets. S4S type floors generally experience some sinking pieces after a number of years. But do correct me if I'm wrong. Will this cause some quicky sound when walk on it after some years?

QUOTE(weikee @ Oct 12 2011, 10:37 AM) This depend on the material use by the installer and the floor condition. It suppose to be much better than just flue the floor board. I see you choosing the way of putting a batten before wood flooring is a good idea. This can elliminate water, uneven and space for wood breathing to expand.

QUOTE(Jo_da48 @ Nov 20 2011, 09:48 AM) If I recall correct, the sale personal indicated the filter need to change every 1 year or when you found the air pressure drop...and it damn costly on the filter...somemore didnt have back wash... Do backwash need to change filter? Or longer duration use?

QUOTE(leeyung @ Nov 20 2011, 03:58 PM) For backwash one, the sands inside the filter will rearrange and washing themself, after that it will arrange back to its filtration layers accordingly, but the drawback is you are wasting the water to wash it only Nothing to change, this is what the salesman told me Why it waste water if the water can remove/wash the dirt out? So does the sand need to be replace after sometime when it no longer can filter? Water is still cheaper than replace the filter.

QUOTE(weikee @ Dec 4 2011, 03:33 PM) I use PYE Acrylic sealer, Is like a paint, sold in 1L, not cheap. I just seal up to 5"off the ground / toilet top of my mosaic. Can get in Ace hardware or houz deport. I think Houz is cheaper. Mine is about 10 feet too. My top is 8', i ask him put one support in middle. Safer, and i stand many times on the top when installing the hood. So far so good. And is about 3.5" think with rebar too you mean this? Brought this for my model kit hobby paint. He... QUOTE(weikee @ Dec 7 2011, 10:16 AM) Hehe, i got 6 A/C 1 x 2hp, 1 x 1.5 HP inverter, rest are 1hp normal. and 2 x Storage water heater. I don't switch on all the a/c everyday. Mainly 1 at night maybe 2 if i have guest. Storage water heater random on and off. But usually manually switch off in morning. Depend on your max load, and planing to have what continues load. 3P is good, but using power that required 3P will be like RM 400+- electric bill per month I have try switch on all the 6 AC for 1/2 hours without problem, but of course that is the only load all other equipment were off. If full load single phase won't exceed 63A, just hantam only lah. Won't cause you anything. Change to 3phase won't have much benifit to us. Got to pay somemore.

QUOTE(weikee @ Feb 7 2012, 03:50 PM) Is say the egg can stand much easier on LiChun. Also if you see my photo, i use the head of the egg to stand, the button is on the up side. My simple explanation is from of the egg york. When you stand the egg, the egg york is at the bottom of the egg. Because it heavier and sank down. So it hold the egg gravity.

QUOTE(Crystal2 @ Apr 13 2012, 07:07 AM) Thanks, Weikee, for sharing your experience. Passed by your house last weekend and noticed that your neighbour has also done massive renovation to his house. IMHO, your neighbour house is overdone, looks kind of ugly & has also spoilt your facade. The huge balcony and columns seem out of place and does not have practical use. I wonder how the authorities could approve the design. Cheers. Probably after effect from weikee renovation.

QUOTE(weikee @ Jun 4 2013, 09:07 AM) If you still in renovation state and want to change all floor tiles is good to do it. I did not do the entire perimeter because some area of flooring I retain. And smart enough they come from the area I did not put. Ah well if we have problem just faced it and fix it. I plan to buy some from Australia, since I have friend coming into Malaysia frequently from Australia. Better to inform your left and right neighbour regarding the termites. Ask them to do treatment together. Otherwise it will craw back to your side once you're clean but neighbour infected. It is also good for you to widen your protect coverage.
