Changing Windows XP to Mac OS X here isn't meaning that your are using Mac OS X but just the appearance of your Windows XP are almost similar (but not the same) as Mac OS X.

Thats the most frequently asked question by my forum members, and I guess with the guide, most of the newbie just can read it there.

Wow so many things to dl, btw i have a question here, what is the differents between this and the FlyAKite software where its a Mac theme on windows. After i install the Fly A Kite i realise everything has change to mac interface right from the startup to the icons, the only thing that is different is the drop down of the taskbar. So if there is Fly A Kite why do we need to do these, coz it does almost the same things. Sorry for this noob question.

Some people sometime afraid to use an installer like flyakite because its might the windows system files. And although you'd installed flyakite, there are still few things that you need to make it 100% like Mac OS X. Thats why I'd created a different chapter for each section so that people will know which aspect of their emulation is still lack after installing flyakite.

QUOTE(Tunn @ Sep 29 2005, 01:45 AM) better stick to the installer dude Hmm..... will that get the buttons to the left? I'm wondering whether to let the installer loose on my system... Worried that it will mess up things it shouldn't be poking it's nose into... I'd rather know exactly what i'm installing... I have applied KoL's visual styles (manually) before. Looked good enough except for the button issue... Another problem i had was with YzToolbar... when i 1st apply a skin, it's ok, but when i close and reopen the window or open other new windows, the toolbar is not skinned anymore... >_< Any idea how to fix this? Thanks. This post has been edited by SubZIRO: Sep 29 2005, 09:35 AM

flyakite installer won't give you the left button. You need 3rd party program like Window Blinds or ShellWM or get that.

BTW, my system specs are: Intel P4 2.4GHz 768MB DDR RAM GeForce4 MX440 Windows XP Pro If i'm not mistaken, all this skinning can only be done on XP right? No Win98/ME... In my experience, blank screens are either because the system cannot handle the new graphics (i.e. crappy video card or PC not enough), or the new resolution/refresh rate is not supported by the monitor. I'm ony a noob at skinning, so that's all i know unfortunately... Anyone have any other ideas?

I think the creator of this thread should consider changing the title "How to change Windows XP to Mac OS X". It's the theme, look and feel that you're changing, not the OS. To really change from Windows XP to Mac OS X, is to get a Mac, then load Mac OS X on it.
No offence, but the thread title is a bit misleading.

I don't think it will be misleading unless this thread is in General OS forum, visitors might think that the tutorials is to completely change the OS. But since this thread is in Desktop Customization forum, the changes make is just on the surface or your windows desktop.

Hmm... i agree... but i didnt notice it until you brought it up But like alang said, this is in the Desktop Customization section... so most ppl would understand what it means. Maybe it can be changed to "How to make Windows XP look Mac OS X" or something like that... This post has been edited by SubZIRO: Oct 7 2005, 09:14 AM

Maybe it's because you're not using the correct version of MSN Messenger? If I'm not mistaken, the MSN skins only work properly with the MSN version they were created for. Latest version of MSN Messenger is 7.5.

Hi all, i'm quite new when it comes to desktop modding. Anyway, i've been using FlyAKite v2.0 for quite sometime already and yes there are a lot of stuff missing to make it more MAC like. I've just formatted my laptop coz it's been buggy lately and i have a couple of questions which i like to ask all the gurus here. 1) if i'm installing FlyAKite v2.0, i'll have to install ShellWM, ObjectDock and etc to make it mac like. Is this true? 2) If i try WindowBlinds, i'll have to do the same as to install the above mentioned applications right? So which of the above methods are the best way to mod my PC? I do not want it to be resource hungry. Are WindowBlinds and FlyAKite easy to remove in case i don't want them anymore? Thanks in advance

1) flyakite has objectdock included.
2) yes.
both methods are not resource hungry (provided if you're using the latest version of windowblinds)
yes both can be undone with just a click at the uninstall button

The icon changed back to normal after some changes in the registry. This maybe caused by Windows update or installation of some applications. You can run the updater as suggested by FlyAKite OSX website but i found that this is not working. Alternatively you can try to run FlyAKite installer again.

lol...OSX on XP...ewwwwwwww , I'm an OSX guy and yes I use both..i tried skinning once or twice and its not cool at all..makes XP even worst...Seriously...You might want to try PearPC or OSX86 (even its iligeal to experince OSX) or get a real mac
Its just my 2senlah..don't bash me up..If you want your GNOME to look a like OSX , there are many skins for it and seriously it looks like OSX..the menus are on top (in windows its in the app) , but in GNOME its on-top of the Bar (a'la OSX style)
BTW , nice tip

previously mua was using stylexp.... i got bored with it n iwas looking for something better... this guide is really great.... i hope the tiger preferences, konfabulator, rk launcher gets intergarted into the installer. plus it would be really cool if nexplorer would replace the original explorer n tiger preferences replacing the default control panel... it would be really rocking!!!!

---deleted---- i should see this 1st sori mr.kite QUOTE Now, to get back on topic about development. First, there is no definite release date now. It is basically "when it's done", which I WILL guarantee will be by the end of January, probably much sooner, but I am not going to promise anything just to miss the release and let everyone down. Originally it WAS intended for the 18th, and then it was intended for Jan. 1st (which is still slightly possible), but I don't know. The reason I am pushing this back is I am taking my time, making sure this release gets done right. Its highly possible that the release after this won't happen for at least 6 months, so I need to make sure that everything is perfect. I also have been down visiting my family since the 24th, and I would much rather spend time with my 9 year old brother than work on the pack. Family is much more important. Hopefully, I will also be visiting my girlfriend after New Years and visiting for about a week. It's been one month since I last saw her, and if I don't visit it will be another two weeks before I see her again. I have a life, please let me live it.
I know everyone is excited for the release, and I want you all to see it because I want to see what everyone thinks, but please, do not message me or continue to ask when it is coming out. From now on my reply will always be "When it is done." When people message me to ask, the only thing it does is annoy me. I don't mind when people I know do it, but when some random person just out of no where messages me to ask, that is annoying.
I promise though that this release will be great. I am putting a lot of hard work into it, and keeping everyone's opinions and ideas in mind. However, Milk will never see its way into FlyakiteOSX. The entire concept of FlyakiteOSX is to, get this.... make your computer look like OS X. Milk is not an operating system. It is an additional style designed as a replacement for the default os style. If I ever did do something Milk, it would be an entirely seperate pack.

Hey guys , I would like to know is there a dock that does the minimization perfectly ?
Like when you minimize a window the thing will 'wave' into the dock.
The RKLauncher does that but not every window will 'wave', plus it is buggy like sometimes it duplicates the windows in the dock, where it only has one window.
Is there a perfect one ? If not I will rather use a dock that does not do the minimization thing since there is no point having one that does minimization on some windows but not all.

Most of the programs, in order to be used need to be paid. I'm okay with it, but i'm very much annoyed at how the ObjectBar, once loaded with Tiger Mac OS Theme overrides the controls for Firefox, and it does not even run Nexplorer properly. =S

QUOTE(fubu233 @ Dec 10 2006, 11:43 PM) does the emulation really slow down the pc ? Not really. Provided if you have adequate amount of RAM. If you have at least 512MB of RAM, it is less likely that it will slow down your computer significantly. And the word emulation is not suitable to be used. We do not make your windows XP to be mac osx but we just physically imitate mac osx.

Follow this tutorial will make your pc looks like mac TIGER, but if you wanna make it to looks like mac LEOPARD, you need to do some more thing... Of coz it will slow down your pc, how much ram u hav? It can be uninstalled, and you also can choose what to install and what to uninstall...
