i bought a 40 inch door for rm 680. Expensive i know, but no choice. Paint, carpenter said use nippon timber shellac is the best for long term.

if you want modern, can opt for plywood door as you can put formica designs and metal strips to look good.

Staining makes door easier to crack in few years (saw this from my own door). Shellac better but not as nice looking. Correct if im wrong.

Tumpang this thread since talking bout doors. Received my door this evening.. Nyatoh wood 40"

Any ideas how I should do with it? Stain or paint or shellac? Do people still put the stainless steel strip in the middle?

Am thinking of light color..

Since this is a large door, i was advised to install more hinges (hinge need to be thick one, 3mm. Usual is 2 mm)

no trap bottle? thats a gamble...

my house sink oso no trap bottle. waste goes straight to drain. trap bottle make stuck only. just don't throw your kfc bone in there or wash your hair
in the sink. another warranty is to invest in a good waste basket. don't use the included cheap waste basket.

my plumber is my uncle. haha. free installation. my sink has nvr been stuck for more than 7 years, if im not mistaken. i think mostly attributed to the short distance of the sink to the drain. straight down, turn a bit, then 90 degree straight to the drain.

Hmm not sure but the door is damn so heavy, need 3 ppl angkat, i look from the side, it looks like solid wood....not sure its one piece full door or not. But my main door is whole piece of wood not using wood block...i think sarawak here the wood cheaper eh? blush.gif whole big piece of merbau only RM1000
*
Only ah? Haha you must be quite rich if you think rm1000 for a wood door is cheap. Considering the price, it must be custom made. What is the width measurement for your door?

Cheaper? Haha.. believe it or not, all the doors in sarawak are imported from west malaysia. thanks to your CMS, sarawak forest is botak already due to excessive clearfelling.
