Big material and small material are referring to the window profile..

QUOTE(phoenix69 @ Jun 29 2011, 08:42 AM) Yes. As you can see from the pictures, the columm is narrow. I guess you have consulted the Engineers in terms of the structure capacity... If not, maybe engage a Engineer to look into it... I not too sure what does your existing column supporting....Going to dismantle the Carporch tiand and build up a wider one. |

QUOTE(kelvyn @ Jul 24 2011, 11:37 AM) Most local authorities allows rear extension up to the boundary with 450mm roof overhang. Honestly speaking, from the attach photo there is lots of incompliance in terms of "standard practice"..Without looking at the actual work, it would not be proper to comment that the construction is not in compliance. If you take a proper look at some of the earlier photos, you will noticed that the ground beam was constructed below the ground slab. This was so that the beam will not block the doorway (back door) As to whether the beam was constructed to specification, cannot comment as not much was shown. Whether the beam is built up to the slab or below the slab is nothing to do with the back door.. Is whether the design is Suspended or Non Suspended.. There is lot of non-compliance from the attached photo in both workmanship and design.. |

QUOTE(gunh @ Jul 25 2011, 05:47 PM) i see normally ppl will put spacer to secure on the wire mesh so that the wire mesh will be about 20mm in the concrete slab... probally more strength.... Actually that thing called Concrete Cover.. The main purpose is the protect the steel rod from contacting the soil as well as a gap for concrete to cover your steel rod.. |

QUOTE(phoenix69 @ Aug 11 2011, 07:24 PM) This is the plastic film that I am going to use as a vapor barrier for my car porch concrete bottom. Bro,Don't really need it but, I actually work in the plastic industry. So thought it is appropriate that I use some of the things my company produce myself. hee hee ![]() The specification for this plastic (me waxing lyrical..) LLDPE Metallocene Film. - 1.LLDPE is Low Linear Density Polyethylene - Virgin grade (Those avalaible in the hardware shop all using recycled resin) 2.Metallocene - A high grade of plastic resin that provides exceotional tensile strenght. Dimension 4400mm X 120micron 1.4400mm width (!4 feet) - The widest film that I can find at the moment. (Hardware shop usually 9 feet wide) 2. Thickness 120 micron = 0.12mm (Hardware shop ranges from 80 - 200 micron) Actually this film was produced to be used as a liquid bulk bag inner liner, I taken some to use in my house. Added on August 11, 2011, 7:27 pm I can wait. You are ahead of me in renovation progress. You go ahead. I am still rethinking about the gate any many other fittings. Budgetary woes. sigh... Why not get thicker PE Sheet. Usually for big project, people use 0.25mm 250micron... Anyhow difficult to get la... Just use 200 micron ok oredy le... |

PE only used in area where concrete is poured (genuine developer).. For any earth filled area, confirmed no PE sheet is laid..
