QUOTE(twins9 @ Nov 8 2012, 06:38 AM) ![]() Would like to ask if this is the wet kitchen? I didnt see any cabinets there. Do you have a separate dry kitchen? How do you intent to cover up the aluminium hose or keep it exposed? Mine is exposed like this. I dont know to cover or not... Nice renovation. I didnt know terrace house can be done up so nicely? Added on November 8, 2012, 7:06 amI left the area under my kitchen sink uncovered cos the water will damage the doors. Now it looks a bit messy....Thinking of using sliding glass or full aluminium doors for it. Added on November 8, 2012, 7:13 amMy kitchen is really tiny compared with yours. I use the laundry area, only 4 ft x 11 ft...for my kitchen. I can only use the 2 short 4 feet walls as the 11 ft sides are for walking through. No cabinet because no enuff $$$$$$ Maybe later... When got $$$$, plan to cover and straighthen is not good as it is not recommded for the hose to be "hanging". Oil can pool at the middle of the hose and this is dangerous. With proper planning and design, even a small kitchen can be very nice |

On Nov 26 th 2012, I noticed that this Topic was missing from Lowyat.Net.
I was worried that all the data will be lost forever. I asked for help from b00n and and after a few days it was finally reinstated today. KUDOS to the staff and moderators of Lowyat.Net. |

I'm in the midst of planning of doing kitchen extension of 6' outward with length of 18", and I'm saw photo's this is exactly what's I'm intended to renovate my kitchen. Mind to share your cost and below is I'm getting a contractor to quote me. Thanks tomjason would have a better picture as he is virtually the contractor himself and has compiled a "formula". My only advice is make time to check up yourself during WIP and make sure the contractor is a rich guy (at least then he will be less likely to rrun in to cash-flow problem negatively affecting his projects completion). QUOTE(AMINT @ Dec 4 2012, 11:18 PM) TS, I am interested to know how much have u paid for all the renovation and who is ur contractor. I will say I paid too much. I don't state the total amount but some members come to a pretty good conclusion in this topic. As for the contractor, If you follow this topic, you will know that I will not recommend him. I has to do a lot of balance work and repairs my self as he "disappear" after collecting full payment. A lesson there for everyone. Thanks for the compliment. |

QUOTE(weikee @ Dec 5 2012, 09:46 AM) Mine was better no over charge. I did not rush his work, he did not rush me for payment. Quality wise after one year of staying. I will say it can be better. I have some minor leaking issue now, but he can't come immediate, now got to wait till weekend hope he come. At least he answer my call. It seems you ended up with the better contractor. Thinking to do my own repair. At least he complete the job, no overcharge and still respond when you call. |

Renovation Extreme Work In Progress - Second Stage
After living in my house for a year without cabinets, finally I decided to take the plunge. Decided to install Cabinets. I employed the same guy that supplied my altar because I like their handiwork. As those who follow this thread will know, when I start , budget is tanked again This time, I think I went a bit overboard (financially and design wise). So here goes :- The cabinet parts arrive,1 full lorry :- ![]() The cabinets unloaded and ready to be installed ![]() The tools they used (made my house in to a virtual mini carpentry for a day) ![]() All plywood/block board carcase, (no chipboard/particle board/"melamine" for me. To Be Continued .... This post has been edited by phoenix69: Dec 28 2012, 04:45 PM |

Renovation Extreme Work In Progress - Second Stage
Happy New Year 2013 !! This Topic Continues To Another New Year. Kitchen Cabinet After living with a cabinet-less kitchen, finally decided to cabinat-lize it. A kitchen without cabinet is damm messy.. As for the design of the cabinet placing, initially I had my own design with all the cabinet types all figured out. My design top and bottom cabinets are syncronized with a space for a built in oven (I even prepared a power point for it). But with input from my boss lady and the cabinet supplier, my design was totally disregarded. The top and bottom cabinet are not syncronized as my cabinet supplier advised that it serves no practical and in my case asthestic purpose. Furthermore it will make some of the cabinets too narrow. My built in oven plans was totally removed as my boss lady says that she does not use oven for everyday cooking. Will only use (if ever) to bake cookies during CNY once a year. (Cabinet supplier advised that oven/electrical product not used often will get damaged or malfunction) Furthermore the oven will limit her drawer width and take up more cabinet space. I just surrender at this point and console myself that I will be saving some $$$ from not buying an oven Decided to use a white glass surface as I want to reflect as much light as possible in my relatively narrow kitchen. Finally the kitchen cabinet design turned out as below. Install the bottom cabinet carcase first. ![]() ![]() Then install the top cabinet carcase. ![]() ![]() Fitting on the cabinet doors, drawers and fittings. ![]() ![]() The Finished result ![]() ![]() Surprisingly the kitchen feels wider and bigger after the cabinets are installed. Next ... The Wardobe ....(To be continues again |

Me... now looking at a dining set. Yup still in progress. Determining factor is always $$$$$$$.. Good luck with your dining set. Get it before CNY. If not like me previously, have to make do with incomplete chairs set until after CNY. Added on January 2, 2013, 1:46 pm QUOTE(leeyung @ Dec 29 2012, 12:07 PM) Ha ha ha.. Renovation Extreme Work In Progress - Second Stage
Walk In Wardrobe - Part 1 of 2 Initially wanted to do a regular built in wardrobe as opposed to a walk in wardrobe. To me a walk in wardrobe is much more pricey , takes up a lot more space and thus not practical. Of couse the lady of the house wants a walk in wardrobe (women's dream ler...). After "discussing further" Once I started designing the walk in wardrobe myself , started going "gung-ho" and went a bit overboard. The main cost addition or this wardrobe is 1.Its plywood (I really do not have faith in chipboard) 2.The inner carcase is laminated with a woodgrain pattern layer. (A walk in wardrobe have to be able to look good as opposed to a regular built in wardrobe (all white colour), because it needs to put on a show.) The location chosen for this wardrobe was initially not for this purpose and has a L-box plaster ceiling light. Wth a the decision to go for a walk in wardrobe, I was able to use this to my advantage. The installation of the wardrobe was relatively complicated as it was not just "build and install", they have to modify the parts at site to accomodate some of my quirks. Need to do the levelling thing before starting (the alien gadget thingy is used again). ![]() ![]() The wardrobe base is anchored to the floor, this way.... ![]() Percise panels have to be cut on site to accomodate my existing wall plug power point. (still can use -do not waste). ![]() ![]() To be continued ..... |

QUOTE(sovietmah @ Jan 3 2013, 10:20 AM) That area was not initially for wardrobe so power point was already there. But... with it there, many options opens up. For clothes and wardrobe maintainence. 1. Vacumm cleaner 2. Steam iron. Others 1. Handphone Charger 2. Hair dryer Ozak idea of dry heater is good too. Added on January 3, 2013, 10:43 am QUOTE(sovietmah @ Jan 3 2013, 10:39 AM) Hmm... Can put storage hard drive there ah? This post has been edited by phoenix69: Jan 3 2013, 10:43 AM |

QUOTE(sovietmah @ Jan 3 2013, 12:05 PM) Probably should server inside the wardrobe. I think can but dunno what is a server.. if ur wardrobe got 6 to 8 inci high. Added on January 3, 2013, 12:40 pm QUOTE(ozak @ Jan 3 2013, 12:11 PM) The dryer heater is for the humid control. Incase some cloth have fungus and wet. Fire Not advise to put any electrical thing that easlly caught fire in the wardrobe. You know lah. Your wardrobe is full of cloth that easlly burn. Added on January 3, 2013, 12:52 pm QUOTE(trdchuckie @ Jan 3 2013, 12:34 PM) hi there.. For wall tiles, I went to Buimaco @ USJ. Its near my place and I think the price there are relatively reasonable. been following ur thread for so long... learnt a lot of lessons through ur writing. need ur few advice regarding materials about price, from where u bought and materials/code 1) kitchen wall tiles 2) kitchen sink 3) kicthen cabinet supplier contact number/website/ price if possible coz will help me to do calculation.... tq a lot,,, They sell mostly tiles with brand (when I say brand I mean no nameless china tiles not expensive like hell ones). The tiles are also layout in a relatively an easy to choose format. But then I guess you best get from the tile shop that are near to you. For Kitchen Sink, you can easily get from Builders Hardware@ kepong. Mine is man made Granite. Great sink but wifey complain that if any ceramic stuff hit hard against it, the ceramic stuff easily break. The Sink is damm hard, solid and durable. As for cabinet supplier, my supplier is an old school cabinet fabricator, with a factory workshop deep inside a jungle somewhere in Banting. No shop or website ler and they aint cheap as they only do plywood, no melamine/chipboard. This post has been edited by phoenix69: Jan 3 2013, 12:52 PM |

QUOTE(limhm1 @ Jan 4 2013, 07:54 PM) Nice wardrobe !!! I like the interior to have that kind of wood grain effect instead of pure white and I'm sure it is much more expensive !!! Just work hard, dont eat and willing to spend can already, no need to be rich. I wish I am as rich as you loh Oh yeah... one more thing, borrow lots of $$$ from bank too. Added on January 5, 2013, 9:59 am QUOTE(ycable @ Jan 5 2013, 12:35 AM) So the KC is permanent FIXED? got 1 kc company say that they will screw and put in some "hook" then the wall cabinet is "hooked", reason is we can lift it up and change if we want next time. Never heard before, can wan ah? heard of it? Btw, how much this plywood + laminated (fomega) cost? If you use, share picture lah. My supplier do not calculate per foot run wan. He will look and give you a price based on his own estimate . This post has been edited by phoenix69: Jan 5 2013, 10:42 AM |
