Yes you have the same model, but they are not equally created, some chip can have good overclocking, some just can't even do 1MHz overclocking..

ok thanks. now i understand. I've downloaded the MSI afterburner. I can slide along the core clock MHz. But how do i know if it will be stable at the new clock speed?

Also, i need to run this app since startup to be able to run at the new clock speed?

thanks

Play games, check if got artifacts or crash, if no, then its should be stable.
or for a quick check,
run OCCT,
select GPU: OCCT,
Test type : Infinite,
Tick Error check.
Run it for couple minutes, see if got any errors.

Yes, you would need to run MSI AfterBurner on startup.
If you want to make the overclocking permanent, this would require modding the BIOS and can get dangerous..

Should I tick the option "apply overclocking at system startup"? My fan seems to remain on while MSI afterburn is being run. Please provide with some tips. thanks

Just leave it untick.

Well, you are overclocking the GPU, temp will rise and naturally fan will start to spin faster...
