Guys, wanna ask something The bass produced from ATH-AD series is good or not as I read few reviews, the AD700 lack of bass. I'm thinking of getting AD300, so is the bass there or super low bass type?

QUOTE(sheenho @ Jul 7 2011, 09:56 PM) ya, i would say the bass is there.. but not very deep and strong bass though.. it's open can after all.. btw, if u enjoy trance, AD300 is very suitable.. i never tried AD700, but from reviews i think it is more to detail compared to AD300.. Thanks for your reply . I like something with balanced sound, all the low, mids and high is there, is AD300 suitable? I listen to all kind of genres, no specific genres.

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Jul 7 2011, 11:10 PM) well you can look up headfonia or my website reviews for the AD series (my website would be mainly ad900 though) and yes, the bass for the ad series is definitely one of its weakpoints, however, you could compensate it by using amps that provide decent boost to your headphones bass. one such example would be the govibe peak that works quite well for the AD series. Not planning to get a amp since I got a tight budget for this. Any other suggestion with budget less than RM300?

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Jul 7 2011, 11:57 PM) well for that budget, and if you're still interested in the ad series, i guess thats as far as you go. though, perhaps you can check out other brand, or other series from AT line up as well. best if you can drop by places like jaben, to audition, then you'll know fully on what you want That's the problem, I can't go to Jaben as it's too far. How about ATH-A300?

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Jul 8 2011, 12:21 AM) A series are closed cans, i prefer open cans over closed cans, though the same may not apply to you Actually I never tried any of Audio Technica headphone, just tried Shure SRH240 today and it's bassy. I'll try to get AD300 if possible.

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Jul 8 2011, 12:33 AM) well, from your sig, you like yui right? and you know yui's damn good with the guitar right? i believe the ad series does really good with strings/guitar though, it'd be much better if you can stretch up to the ad700/900, as you can start to experience what the ad series can offer, anything below, doesn't speak much for the AT AD series unfortunately Means that the lower end model of AD does not have the sound signature of the higher end AD series? This is my start for audiophile journey, so I assume AD300 is a starting point for me as I got this low budget and currently using cheap Creative EP-830 IEM only . Btw, YUI-tard here. How about ATH-M35 and T500 model?

QUOTE(spacelion @ Jul 8 2011, 09:42 AM) I take it you don't live in KL or Selangor? I'm at KL now for study purpose, but going to Subang is just too far from my place, Setapak. Added on July 8, 2011, 10:37 amQUOTE(sheenho @ Jul 8 2011, 09:26 AM) i tried M50 before, well, to be honest i found the headphone kinda boring and dull.. no offense to those monitor phones lovers, but these phones are just not my cup of tea.. maybe they need amps to pour in a bit colour? Ok, thanks for your review. I'll take the risk on getting AD300. This post has been edited by kennethkee93: Jul 8 2011, 10:38 AM

QUOTE(DaEMoNteNTAcLe @ Jul 8 2011, 12:57 PM) honestly, unless you need a closed back headphone, i cant put ad300 and m50 in the same level. Added on July 8, 2011, 1:01 pmif quantity alone, ad700 < ad300.. maybe only 40% of ad300 bass. i consider ad300 bass quantity as level and balanced enough. the quality of details in the bass is not as good as ad700.. but since u r missing quantity already, u'll be hard pressed to hear the difference. as for frequency extension (those 5hz to 40khz thingy), ad700 is better a bit, but only few people notice it. so, does it hit super low? not really. but does it do it natural? yes, more so than ad700. Thanks bro for your great reply. As beginner of an audiophile, I'll try AD300 first. If it's suitable for me then I'll upgrade when the time comes. QUOTE(Akabane@DrJackel @ Jul 8 2011, 11:14 PM) monitoring headphone is mainly focusing on music production instead of enjoying i would say sometimes. is flat and balance no coloration mostly but seriously this will judge the recording whether is good or bad too. My first Audio Technica Headphone is M30 series which now replacement model is M35 which is foldable version. Sometimes is depend on what you are hear to. But for me i'm using for at least 2 years for this for my production/gaming/listen playback/movie. I think still ok for me. cause is still has AT signature sound. Thanks for that bro! Appreciated all your review and advices.

QUOTE(Akabane@DrJackel @ Jul 8 2011, 11:35 PM) You're welcome bro, this just as short and straight forward of what does sound like. Anyway, AT is a the one of the company who produce what you pay for or i can say you pay for what sounds like. how much you pay..hows the better sound it will... as long there's a huge gap between my old cheap headphone sound quality with this AD300 is enough, it'll be a great improvement for me.
