finally got my sempron 2800+ last week with MSI Neo 3 V2.0, the Sempron is EPAW, read that this is supposedly the A class, but dunno how true it is. The mobo i dunno coz cannot find any good review on it, is it a value mobo (V class?) ? I was so desperate to get a rig before raya after my XP rig died.
Anyway after reading and trying to learn how to overclock sempron 64, finally understand a bit, but still not fully now im running at 2.2GHz, 275 x 8, stock voltage, HTTx 3, divider at 133, so the RAM is around 188 at 2.3, 3, 3, 7 if im not mistaken, running stable in 3D games, and prime for a couple hours, good enough for me, idle around 32C and load 39-44 (on a hot day n stock cooler). 3D Mark at 2.2GHz and 6600GT AGP is a lowly 7800++
I am aiming to get it to run at 2.4GHz, but have problem rebooting now, The MSI board memory is tweakable just that i dunno much bout memory, and me using KVR 400 double sided 512 x 2, dunno what chipset no wording just symbols instead (what chipset is this?)Any pointers on what to do next - i as much dun want to increase the vcore unless necessary to reach 2.4GHz (1.6 to 2.4 i'll be very happy already)

thanks man, but like i said i know very little bout ram timing, only knows lower value is better(?), but not all ram can run tight right? there a a lot of settings in the mobo different from my old Nforce2 mobo, 1T = 2.5, 2? 2T = 3 ? so now is 2.5, 3, 3, 7 what setting do i set the ram (KVR) manually to run at 1T and still able to run 400Mhz i.e. 2.4GHz

oh ok, i thought that 3 is already 2T (dunno wth it is anyway) i'll try to set it manually to 3-3-3-8 and go for 300x3 fsb, 300x8 = 2.4GHz
i better be reading threads on ram, saw a few just now on timings. and dl memtest86 as well
thanks again

i tried messing around with the ram last night set it to 3 3 3 8, and the rig booted at 2.4GHz, but not stable, the rig keeps on rebooting itself?? i wanted to up the vcore a bit but found out that the next step up after auto is 1.55V, so what is actually the default voltage for the sempron2800+ ? (the MSI bios is reporting something like 1.4V)
btw the albatron agp 6600gt that i got is no good, with the default HSF im getting peak temp around 90+C after changing to a modded athlon xp cooler and a bigger fan to cool it down, peak is <70C, idle ~50 (which is what people getting with stock cooler!) so im quite reluctant to oc the card core too much, yesterday only up the core to 525, mem at 1000, and finally getting 8000 points in 3DM03. im too lazy to rma it though coz im from out of town (bought at LYP)

hi sidewinderz, my msi k8n v2.0 bios setting for vcore is 1.55V as the next step after auto, how come there is no 1.45 or 1.5V, how about you msi platinum mobo? is there a bios upgrade i shud be considering? err, is there a windows based flash for mobo bios, rather than using floppy disk, i dun hav a floppy drive last time i wanted to flash my gc to enable temp monitoring, has to pinjam my office floppy drive:)
