QUOTE(poolcarpet @ Jul 14 2011, 11:24 PM)
grounding is there.

here's the issue, everything plugged in.
start engine, run it till temp mid mark.
fan DOES NOT kick in.
stop engine. take out cable from fan to temp sensor at bottom.
connect negative terminal batt to temp sensor wire from fan.
fan STARTS spinning (car keys turn to ON first of course)
wireman come and look.
see the radiator. immediately said this radiator no good. plastic.
i looked at the temp switch..

if you look very closely and compare the length of the switch vs the radiator depth, you'll notice that after installing the switch, it will probably touch the other outer side of the radiator. if you look at the switch carefully, there is insulating material between the switch itself and the cable connector.

wireman took some wire, did some wiring and behold the fan comes on!!

so i suspect that the temp switch inside the radiator was not touching any metal part of the radiator to complete the circuit (surelah, radiator bottom is plastic!!). wireman did some wiring to connect the inner part of the switch to metal part of radiator or body.

anyway, long story cut short, don't buy those plastic top/bottom radiators. smile.gif

Added on July 14, 2011, 11:26 pmnormal one, single wire. not a problem with the fan switch. it's the radiator bottom. if anyone is using radiator with plastic top/bottom and could get the radiator fan to start automatically when hot without special rewiring at the temp switch, i would like to know smile.gif

Hi,I am owner of 1990 saga, so proud to owned this car.
Happy to found this thread to allow me can learn knowledge about this car.

I would like to get some help from any brother here, my saga roof is rusted and become a hole, last 3mnths I ask the shop to welding it. (they cover it wif new metal , size is around a biscuit) Recently, I found the water can come into car!

So, do u think that i better to change the whole roof skin or ask the shop welding it again?
Is it require JPJ approve if change roof skin?
Last time i ask it cost RM700-change front n rear windscreen rubber, but without painting, reasonable price?

Thanks a lot smile.gif
*
actually All Proton saga family(except BLM n FL.reason dunnow) not use rubber 4 windscreen...just use Glue silicon.....change skin allowed...but do not touch B-pillar....if do nicely can pass JPJ inspection

comparing to stock iswara carb lah. lots more electronics involved in fuel injection, o2 sensors, precise fuel metering, etc etc which carbs generally don't have. you have super power aisan carb then good lah but he was asking about changing stock carb to efi, makes no cents to do so if idea is for improved FC..

Added on July 18, 2011, 10:39 pmhaha yeah but that can't be mine, i didn't leave any box with them smile.gif
i'm still waiting for them to call me, hopefully some time this week. told them to take their time, do a good job no rush.

well don't buy that. cheap rm120 but i don't trust it. it really feels more like a toy than a radiator but that's probably because it has plastic top/bottom.

i not buy that....i rather search at radiator specialist......

QUOTE(DSV4600 @ Aug 3 2011, 01:38 PM)
If you compare their labour charges with biasa punya workshop / bawah pokok workshops, sure more expensive loh...
Buy if you compare their labour charges with Proton / Perodua / NAZA / Kia / Chin 3S Center, it's quite reasonable.
Somemore their staff are sent overseas for training, so they're good at diagnosing actual problems instead of simply asking you to change each and every part in the car.

Example is last weekend I sent my car there to check an intermittent squealing & squeaking sound from my belt area.
The staff took about 1 hour ++ opening up my belt system one-by-one and checking for the problem with one tool which looks like doctor's stethoscope. Finally found the problem to be related to the timing belt pre-tensioner pulley / something like that. They advised to change it when changing timing belt, which not due yet. So they close up everything, tighten the belts properly and didn't charge me a thing. The manager just tell me to bring my car back when it's due to change.

So I think it's worth it, FOC service & also the sounds dissapear (very less) after they check because they re-tighten everything. Peace of mind sleeping at night and also when driving knowing your engine is maintained tip-top, especially for people like me who like to speed 160-180km/h on the highway non-stop.
