ozak,

The read performance is good but the write speed is so-so only. I do know the Flash Voyager 16GB is using MLC chips.
*
Is that mean this kind of chip is fast or slow? I guess it is speed vs capacity. You want high capacity, you got to be slow down. cry.gif

Irishcoffee,
Are you sure it is 32gb? Must becarefull when buying memory thing in china. I got a friend brought a memory card state as 1GB. But when shooting, only can store a few picture. Than go back and claim. Argue till police station, than only the guy refund back.

I kinda like my Voyager 4 GB. It's built tough. Maybe
the thick rubber insulates it but it doesn't heat up like
my Kingston 512 MB.

Looks like it could survive the washing machine too!

Not really that tough. The rubber casing is just wrap around the component. If you pull out abit the rubber casing, you can see the inside component. I got one time accidently bend the usb head between casing. Lucky it didn't break into two part. The rubber casing are easly stick with the dust when put inside pocket. I m using flash voyager 16GB.

in general, does bigger capacity flash drives are slower? i ask coz the performance is slower than my the previous Cruzer Micro 2gb that i've tested.
*
I guess so. My cosair voyage 16gb very much slower than other flash drive. Either you want capacity or speed.

I don't think so bro, the bigger ur thumbdrive is, the slower it is. I bought the Corsair Voyager 8GB last week, it's damn slow in term of copying, moving files especially small files. I'm using Vista, the average writing speed is 4-6MB/s. But the reading speed is very fast. So unless u need a big capacity and don't care about waiting, it's a good buy smile.gif
*
Yeah, my Cosair voyage 16Gb is only 3.8kbs in write performance. Anyway get use to it since the main I want is size.

anybody tried copying a file as big as 4GB to ur 16 GB thumbdrive. got problem ar eg. say disk full.

edit: haha silly me. juz knew that in FAT file system cannot transfer a single file larger than 3.74 GB into the thumbdrive. tongue.gif have to format it into NTFS 1st.
*
16gb can format to ntfs? I don't see any option in format windows. The most is FAT32.

Just brought a voyager 32GB. The speed is so so. I transfer total almost 16gb mix file to voyager 32gb. It take me 8hr to finish transfer. doh.gif
All the file is from my old voyager 16GB. Have been using voyager 16GB for over a year.

Yeah i agree....8GB above the speed is too slow, especially if you wanna use it to play video file using a DivX capable DVD/USB standalone player (like philips)
If wanna get a 8GB drive, get those cybpsych recommended. Currently, those Sandisk Extreme Contour are going for slightly above RM100.  I remembered paying the same amount of money for a Micro Cruzer last year.
Even the Sandisk ducati 4GB price is down by half now.

Playing video is no problem either 16gb or 32gb. I always pop into my HDD player after I DL from net.

Hi guys. I m looking for high capacity with fast speed write/read. So far in my search, I come down into this 2.

1) Kingston DataTraveler HyperX 3.0 - 256GB
2) Sandisk extreme - 128GB

I like the speed and the slick body of the Sandisk. But the capacity is just enough. Not enough for future. While the Kingston 256GB is good. But have to compromise a bit the speed and the not so extractive design.

Any others I should look to?

How much is the DataTraveler 256gb? If its more than 130USD you can consider SSD instead.
Nowadays expensive thumbdrive started to lose its shine after SSD price per dropped like waterfall.
*
Rm950.

SSD too big. Not pocketable. I take it to travel around.

Twice expensive than EVO 250GB SSD(if the USD to MYR conversion is correct), i'd sacrifice a bit and get the EVO along with a SATA to USB cable, instead of thumbdrive anyday.
But it's up to your pocket size.

What can do. sad.gif I need portable and pocketable. Early this yrs brought a msata ssd 256gb only cost rm750.

Compare to my old cosair voyager 32gb, this 1 really fast. Writing speed at 26mb/s for 1 big file. While drop to 12mbs for multiple file.
