Hi,

Actually you can call for specialist to have a free inspection for you. icon_question.gif
They also can give you a latest quotation but baiting system will cost muc more expensive than those chemical pump underground.
It is not only depends on your budget but also to your luck. Sometimes 20 houses at same area and only 1 house got termite attacked.
Termite (creammy color head) is very sensitive and always shift from 1 location to other location if they get disturb by other. doh.gif
For example, inside cabinet move to on top the roof or wherever got wood area.

If not mistaken, you can hear the creaking sound (termite is blind and their horn is knocking around wall/wood to get signal when walking) more clearly at night because less interruption from other daily activities sound.
Those area with creaking sound might have some mud (brown/orange color) stain. shocking.gif
You may find them inside wood cabinet, roof area which got wood also, pipeline area, shoe cabinet, wood window/door frame and etc.

Hope this can help you understand a bit.

knock the wood area and you will find sound different (Empty) in between same area.
for cheap solution is go to hardware shop and buy the chemical yourself and try to spray it across by make holes on it. But it only temporary solution...

depending on how old is your building ... like the apartment that i bought about 20 year ...

termites coming from neighbour's unit below ... behind the wall tiles from the bathroom ... they go for all the wood based door frames and parquet floorings .. then kitchen cab and wardrobes ..

so checking window frames and door frames first would be good ..

if you see termite trails then you'd better do something quick

what i do is to drill holes into the frame starting from floor level and see how bad it is. then, inject termite pesticide into the holes. patch up holes with putty.

also, you can drill holes into the ground below the frame to inject pesticide. this will only keep them away, so check other wooden stuff around

Thanks Guys for the advice,

I try knock the area that come out the creaking sound, and the wood just broke...so it pretty sure caused by the termite right ?

hi ycs,
mind to share where to get the termite pesticide ?

Friends,
Looking for long term solution, what is the best approach to handle termite ?
I heard of Rentokil, using baiting system to kill termite but not sure the termite come back after shot while like how the normal ants behave.

The bait system is to allow the termite take the bait/food to the nest and allow the queen and colony to eat the food. It will stop the reproductive system so the termite colony system will die.

After it die the smell still around this make the other colony don't overtake the area.

I heard this can last up to 10 years or more.

Depend you need to do the chemical treatment of the bait system. Bait are more expensive.

Last time when i ask for my mom house, is about 3.5k for bait system. Chemical is cheaper, around 1k to 1.3k, but it will drill and pour the chemical. It drill on all your floor including living room floor, then spray the chemical on the roof too. Btw they use the similar chemical you can get on the h/w shop.

If you are carrying out renovation work, then it would be best to go for the drilling and pumping chemical method. much cheaper then baiting method. That's the method I used.

i know cause before i lay my tile i can drill it and prevent my tile to be drill, problem is i heard i does not last longer than 3 years which the chemical will eventually gone and they will be back as it wont guarantee to kill the queen shocking.gif

then i have to drill my tile after 3 years to reput the chemicals ?? hmm sounds risky le hmm.gif

The drilling & pumping in the the chemicals is very much cheaper as compared to the baiting method. I think it should be about 1k or less depend on the chemical used (for intermediate terrace house)
The pumping of chemical into the ground is more of a preventive measure. While the baiting method is used when your house is being attacked by termites.
So, the method to be employed will very much depend on your situation.

In my opinion, you should get rid of the termites first before you carry out your renovation. Else the termite could attack your new timber material. Unless your renovation works is limited to non timber material. biggrin.gif
