Really ah, die lo like that...

i'm using it to do engine braking all the time... not sure how fast it will make the gearbox conk, but i'm used to this kind of driving since more than 10 years ago.

In NHC, both S or D allow u to do paddle shift. Usually any speed > 60 km/h, i'll downshift to 3.
Speed < 30 km/h, I'll downshift to 2. Downshift to 1 is almost impossible.. speed has to be real slow, might as well use the brakes.

Engine brake all the time on a manual, which is almost every day. Driving the City like that when I drive it is quite a bumpy ride

What I mean by engine brake is release accelerator, not going through the gears to slow the car down.

Pre-FL City has the auto-go-up window for driver side so FL should have. Yes it does, it calculates based on trip. If you reset trip, the average also resets.

Umm... compared to my other car with anti-roll bars and a lower stature, yes. Compared to more normal stock cars, I can't say. 120-150km/h can get noisy, wind noise and all. 140km/h on the way back from Klang on the NKVE and it has a whistling noise...

if not mistaken, there are optional item included which can be by-pass if not necessary..

dude, since you own city and vios, which NVH is better?

But luckily, not me driving the car. My parents take the car 2-5km away, work, weekend drive, thats it Top speed 80km/h at most.

i am driving my dad 2008 city vtec cvt..

the fuel consumption surprisingly is very high!

full tank is about to travel 380-390km only!

before the car was very fuel saving..

fyi... my city used to pump only Esso..

engine oil was unknown as my dad forget what engine he used as provided by outside shop... not serviced under honda anymore..

can u guys pls kindly tell me what is the most suitable engine oil for honda city? i am afraid the engine oil was the root cause for the high FC...

FC increased after engine oil been changed 

the fella told my dad city should use 15-w40.. my dad just follow.. ended up very high FC..

but i am not sure whether engine oil is the root cause for the High fc... 

Yeah, Honda has fully-synthetic SM0-W20 engine oil. Not bad, using it now but pricey. Can see slightly improved FC.

Me drive Honda City laa, 24,000 km, nearly reaching 2 year old

Oh sorry - 2011 Honda City E, iVTEC. The oil is OK so far, I am happy with the FC coz it suites me (light footed driver).

I own a Honda City 1.5Vtec and this is the problem i am facing:

1) on a slow speed, the car chokes (when i release accelerator pedal, the car sorts of choke forward - not smooth cruise & when i accelerate again it chokes backward)

2) if i idle too long (IE in a jam) this scenario happens.

3) when i cruise (release accelerator) it is not smooth (choking effect - as if the car is having resistance to go forward smoothly)

4) all this happens only on low gear ratio? i mean the starting 10 - 30 km/h (NOT idle to 10km/h)

p.s. Someone has suggested that i do a start clutch recalibration which i have done, below is what i have done.

Calibration Procedure with Driving the Vehicle
1. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature (the radiator fan comes on).
2. Start the engine under no-load conditions, then turn the headlights on. (That means no aircond, no radio, do heaters)
3. Start off in [D] position, and drive the vehicle until vehicle speed reaches 60 km/h (37 mph), then decelerate the vehicle in more than 5  seconds without pressing the brake pedal to reach completion.
4. Test-drive the vehicle to verify that a problem does not occur on the start clutch control system.

I am confused of the problem. From what i know, the Vtec gearbox has a WIDE variety of problems and i do not know what to diagnose it for. Knowing the peeps from the Honda Workshop will encourage a change of gearbox (RM 30k) which is not what i sign up for.

Your opinion and advice is highly appreciates. Please advice. Thanks

A confuse Honda City owner.

hey guys... i need to change my tires now from the stock 185/55R16 (E spec) but the options are limited. I am thinking of the C Drive 2 but the only size they have is 195/55R16. I was reading here a couple of post back that one fellow owner's gear box rosak after that and honda said warranty void.

So questions: is it true warranty void if use differnet tyre size?
will it damage the gear box if use 195/55s?
