Why not?

Judging by the price of English players right now....

English player= 15m+ (based on any english player)
Captain of team= 10m (according to Blackpool)
Proven in league = 10m (as we can see in transfer of Torres, hiked up to 50m although previous season at 40m)
Proven partnership with Torres = 15m (Just figure it out of nowhere)

Give us 50m and off Gerrard goes.  tongue.gif

With that kind of money, I can buy 2 Henderson and 2 Adam.  tongue.gif

Then I get to play midfield like this

Adam-Adam-Henderson-Henderson

WIN WIN  tongue.gif

U must be crazy or not a liverpool supporter!
Gerrard is the hearbeat and captain marvel of the team, selling him is like selling our soul! Although he's aged a bit now, he's still got the talent to give us another season or 2 of top notch service. Most importantly we need his determination, craft, heart and leadership as a beacon of light to serve as inspiration for the other liverpool players(since we have way too many foreigners in the team now). Gerrard bleeds the red of Liverpool through and through!

Acutally I don't understand why Liverpool don't spend more time to persuade Alberto Aquilani back to the KOP. He's a class act and has the creativity and passing skill to unlock defence especially against compact/defensive team like Bolton/Wigan. He could save us a couple million pounds of money. Can come in for Gerrard in a more advance position.

Another thing is I don't think Juan Mata will do well in the EPL. He's too frail even for La Liga. Gago I'm ok. He looks a good central midfield player. Henderson I'm quite sceptical while Charlie Adam seems like our answer to Xabi Alonso. Get another 2 wingers. Park Chu Yong is also a good signing.

Even though Gerrard is ageing, he still bring many intangible benefits to the club and CANNOT be replaced by a foreigner irregardless of how talented the foreigner is. Gerrard is like a standard bearer for Liverpool, the heart and soul of the club that all other players, youth or first team alike, look to for inspiration. He drives the other foreign players to play their heart out for Liverpool by leading-by example. Others around him feel more inspired to perform better. Besides, he is also one of the pull factor for other world class players to join Liverpool. If he goes, there are no other world class player at Liverpool (maybe except for Luis Suarez) and others might not want to join Liverpool because, don't forget, we can't offer them Champions League football.

Which is why I think its a waste of time going after the Porto duo of Falcao and Hulk. They have no loyalty to Liverpool and I reckon would probably want to play in a Champions League as well. No point for them to downgrade themselves. Besides, Chelsea is offering huge amount of pay package plus champions league football.

Its freaking greedy if its true. Worst than a mercenary. Just hope this is all his agent, Bernie Mandric doing since he had a reputation being a greedy prick.

If what u say is true then i lost all respect for Harry. He used to be a good player for both Aus and Leeds. Then he came to Liverpool but was injured too many times to make an impact. I never actually thought he was a money grabbing b*^S$rd. I knew he was paid good wages in Liverpool, but not great and he certainly never get involved in any "ask for more money from Liverpool" kinda thing. I thought he left because he couldn't get first team slot and we couldn't use him as he is injured too often... He's getting on a bit now, lost yards of pace and not even 1/4 as good as he used to be... so how can he justify the all these money he demanded????

I dun understand why we could spend 16 million on jordan henderson who is young and untested yet but could not spend 20 million of downing who has proven himself with aston villa and england on a regular basis.... Pls wake up Liverpool money man... we want to sign quality players now, not potential. Potential needs time but we currently don't have the luxury of time....we need quality and we need it NOW!

Erm, Sky is not free as well.

Again, my main point is, the scousers give up a lot to watch and support the team, show them the same and you would earn their respect.

I disagree.

Although I support Liverpool, we, as Malaysians can and would never match the intense support of a Merseysider. And why would we?
Afterall Liverpool is a place in England not Malaysia. We are Malaysians not English. Most of us were neither born there or stayed there for more than 5 years. Some of us have never even visited Liverpool.

For the same reason the Merseysiders will NEVER show the SAME type of respect to fans from other areas because of the above rationale as well.

I agree with everything you've said. You don't claim to be equally as good a fan as scousers just because you bought a few jerseys along the way. Like I said earlier, money can't buy passion.

Yes money can't buy passion, but it can buy a lot of players that we need. tongue.gif
We still need a right winger (i really can't see Kuyt playing as a permanent right winger), a left winger, a leftback and a central defender. Won't hurt to also include another striker coz although Luiz Suarez is good, he and Caroll can't be expected to play every minute of football for the entire season. I dun know if David N'Gog is still there or not but makes no difference anyway

jordan henderson is a left/right midfielder, no?
Otherwise there would be a congestion in central midfield.
To sell aquilani, poulsen

i literally meant Charlie Adams will be better than the Spaniad, Alonso

we hav so many Midfielders and guys like Gerrard Lucas , Aqua , Miereles can be made into an attacking Out and Wide Midfielders,
*
I don't understand how you could compare Charlie Adams with Xabi Alonso. Alonso was 2x the player Charlie Adams will ever be... Alonso's intelligence, reading of the game, technical and tactical ability, range of passing, technique and vision is far, far, far superior to Charlie Adam's. Alonso abilities are capable of rivalling the best in the world maybe just slightly behind Xavi, who is recognised as the best midfielder in the world, period.

Cole -> QPR or Hamburg - I don't think cole wants to go to Hamburg and QPR couldn't afford his weekly wages which is i think >90k a week

Konchesky -> Leicester city - ALso highly unlikely. Leicester not in EPL. He would rather rot in Liverpool's reserve and take his big fat paycheck every week.

Poulsen -> Mayb bak to denmark but no news so far - This maybe possible

Maxi, Liverpool should keep him.. will be a gud sub! Experienced and a gud player too... - This also agreed. Plus he could play on the wings where we are short of players

Downing is a good buy.
I can see the midfield lineup as follows:-
LM - Downing
CM- Charlie Adams
AMC - Steven Gerrard
CM - Lucas
RM - Jordan Henderson? or Dirk Kuyt...
I think we still need a RM

Stewart Downing officially signs as a Liverpool player. We have at long last solve the problematic left midfield position
