I don't think paying a youngster 80k per week as reported is a good deal, no matter how promising he is.

But I do think that it is nice to let SAF know that pushing people around isn't quite as fun when they push back, and have bigger muscles than you.

Personally, I do not think LFC cares too much if we get Jones or not at the moment... we're just trying to make the other team up their ante. Payback is a b!tch, no?

I pity Pearce though, must be fun telling your star player that his dream transfer is in a limbo right before a major tourney!

Accuse me of being ungrateful, of showing a distinct lack of passion etc etc, but I do believe that I support LFC the club and not Gerrard the player. Being ruthless, calculative and manipulative made many a millionaire!

This is also how I suspect things to be in the future under NESV, when Lucas hits twenty eight-ish and is at his prime, he will be sold no matter how much we like him. The owners aren't exactly here to gift success to LFC - there is no free lunch. They intend to make money by developing youngsters and selling them off at the right time for godly sums. If they win something in between then that's a bonus.
