But I do think that it is nice to let SAF know that pushing people around isn't quite as fun when they push back, and have bigger muscles than you.

Personally, I do not think LFC cares too much if we get Jones or not at the moment... we're just trying to make the other team up their ante. Payback is a b!tch, no?
*
precisely, red nose has been playing bully all these years & together with him buddies merry men (other club managers, we all know the boot lickers who always receive first priority of manu bin players...ahem mean fringe players)

i haven't notice phil jones play but his mould, the 'likeness' it seems may be the next big english formidable centerback, given his height & build.

henderson, hasnt yet strike me as all promising but i trust KD has a way with young lads n the little doubt eased.

tommy smith was a hard tough player, even when he was playing for the opposition (post liverpool) he was just as tough in tackles against us.

"the core for the future stays british"

i'm pretty sure this is for mid-to-long term vision that is in line with FSG's tangent for the club. Often the british players aren't or not as sought after abroad so any shake up of the team won't be seismic scale my guess.

i've got no qualms with him. he gave us his best years in a red shirt. and when his career is starting to get blighted with injuries and riddled with poor form, he responded by giving us 50 million pounds. it's saddening to see him leave, but he did it in a fashion much more respectable than that loathed owen could ever manage to
*
argee. With torres leaving, it's 'win-win' for both parties, with owen, LFc was losing end & even in 2 other opportunity later, he still ignored us for more 'salary'

to me gerrard earns his stripes to continue playing at lfc. it would be a honour to him & the fans also continue & end his playing career at lfc.

No club will bid any figure for gerrard (at his current value). they all know how much is attached to lfc, the passion he has for the club (despite some doubters amongst the fans, who mostly only judge superficially on sporadic moments on field).

of course it wont stop a few fellas here thinking, the IF. i'm just being realistic. tongue.gif

QUOTE(triple02 @ Jun 23 2011, 04:16 PM)
Lots of discussion of Gerrard, but i think its just absurd to even think of selling him, he has been downright the best player at the club for the past 10 years, yes he has been injured but that doenst mean he's over the hill by any chance,

True also that it has been Stevie "ME" but who could blame him? he has been surrounded with mediocrity the length of time he has been here, each time and everytime when someone needs to step up who has that person been? Im think i would be right in saying that Steven Gerrard would not have been Steven "ME" if he was surrounded by quality players as he was progressing through the ranks. As much as people rate Carragher I think Gerrard is up there as well.

Point is to think of moving Gerrard on onto another club when he's given so much, its not even a thought, many of us question loyalty in players these days, and true enough Gerrard's head was turned to Chelsea some season's ago like many players but he stuck by the club nonetheless, who would have know where would we have been at that time if Gerrard decided to move? being ruthless is one thing being just plain daft is another. just saying
*
to me its fine to have such discussions. the only way liverpool will consider an offer IF & only if gerrard himself feels the need to change. he had sacrifice & placed liverpoolfc over some douchebag (a so-called mr.liverpool to some) who said the next club is 'a bigger club' than than the current club he was plying for.

To some who felt 'gerrard' is selfish, consider he sets himself a very high standards & if on field some fans thinks he doesn't show 'much' vigour as others, how wrong i feel he has been missunderstood. in his early youth years he was chasing every ball, every challedge was hard & even disputes/show some tantrums many referees whistles. outside football he got himself a little trouble with the wrong type of people. fortunately there was houllier who was in some parts a fartherly figurehead & gerrard didn't lose control of his youth.

inmagine if gerrard had off-field behaviours like certain 'world-class' english players or constantly run afoul with the law for public affrays like 'some' other club players. yes gerrard was once caught publically for abusing a DJ at the bar, but it was so few occasions & never the magnitude of disorderly weekly/monthly conduct. it would such a waste of such a gifted talent.

not conducting such typical bravado, chest thumping, badge kissing like some player/ 'model father/parent' doesn't mean he doesn't love liverpool. Gerrard the player is a little more reserved character, you can see how he is in interviews, & the BBC video docu of himself, his family, his home. Some may call it 'staged' but come on he's a player & not an actor. he was genuinely himself, a little more reserved person.

he may not be mr.liverpool like carrager to some, but he is amongst the legends of liverpoolfc.
he deserved his spot there.

am getting a sinking feeling that while finally lfc can get a bit of $$ to spend compared to those days, our rivals (seemed) to have outspending (us) on some key talents.

its still early months, i know....

chelsea, man city, manu are 2 steps up with purchasing power, now gunners are seemed to be shifting a notch up blink.gif

If the Handling if Meireles displeases fans (which I understand it's football) but accord different viewpoint over KD (oppose to how the displeasure fans handed to rafa over Alonso)

then that's something I don't understand. I didn't want Alonso gone then, nor wishes Meireles being used as a bargain tool.

But I didn't castrate rafa nor I would of KD, there are lots of behind the scene stuffs we didn't know off.

sigh, lfc 'fan' but little regard to our rich history.

yes, dumfcuks other clubs football fans tp belittle lfc old history simply because they either have none or chooses to ignore the core value that make us unique from all other english clubs.

and now we have an 'lfc' fan who thinks "only" trophies alone defines a club. appreciating LFc more than that.

we may not have our 19th yet & the haul had been surpassed by manu but that doesnt mean we are resting on our laurels.

We have past loyal servants, & we appreciate many of them who have resisted the urge of "higher pay" ' "play for a bigger/more SUCCESSFUL club" , No, at LIVERPOOL FC, nobody bigger and in KD's faith, Its is best club, even if we havent nailed 19.

come on, sammy is not owen nor the spitter. not even remote.

thanks for all the memories sammy, god speed

whoa, so much behind the scene rumours!! who's coming, not going, transfer, not transfer etc.

well gerrard not coming to asia (for treatment/recovery for next season) is great delight to those anti-gerrard lfc forumers shakehead.gif doh.gif

his fans will be gutted but we wish him well.

its so rare to find a passionate player these days. some will give away the chance to find 'glory' (& obviouly a fatter paycheck) to remain to fight for the struggle to new throphies for the club cool2.gif
do they still exist? yes, but not a lot...& to have the supporters doubtiing your qualities & commitment...
sigh... doh.gif

it has been slow for us in the transfer market, understandable. we aren't that attractive, yes no europe, & a few good men have already given us a miss. (even a perportedly better deal but nada)

so, having lfc seemingly being patient & scouting for good deals, is no different from our often maligned spainish dude. whom was pretty worse when there is little or no mullah backing.

its so rare to have players who would view liverpool as the the greatest football club & willingly play for it.

I don't think there is any anti-gerrard lfc forumers here. Just less fond of him that's all. I think it's both good and bad that Gerrard is not coming, bad because I've always wanted to see him play with my own eyes and good because he is getting the rest and recuperating for bigger things when the new season comes on the way.
*
biggrin.gif well, term used many to highlight the unsavory words (repeatedly too rclxub.gif ) of our kapitan whom some have labelled as ... uh nevermind sad.gif

next season is the more important season for liverpool, its where from the viewpoint of the board, we either play catch up or become also rans & forever be be 'outside' top four. we dont want to be the next leeds nor become what has ever happened to nottingham forest blink.gif

every big football club is spending big to have a bigger quality squad, we had a very good core quality squad & often time & again found ourselves lacking when our squad always thumble during mid season/crucial continueous line-of-games.

trimming wages is important & having a lean squad is only good short term. perhaps not having mid week european (europa) is good as we fight back to chase the money spinning bread-n-butter ala CL for sustaining as a top level club & our persue to win domestic throphies.

It's no mystery why our club's goal appears modest when we said the goal next season was to haul us back into the top (and not 'over-promise' of "setting-to-win" it, but as often we often do fight for it with limited quality players)

I am shocked, no one bothered about how Sammy Lee was treated badly!
*
i am not happy but I'm those who awaits more reports of it & not jumping into. sammy lee was a true liverpool servant & i'm grateful he doned a liver bird in his playing & post playing career.

whether some people calls KD now as "KD regime" is not something i like. "Press/Media" may have a go at liverpool or maybe not.

no one is bigger than the club. not even KD

its not all about physical fitness, mental fitness and fatigue comes into play as well.

and fans must remember, its not a GERRARD tour, its a liverpool tour.

if i were u guys, id be equality excited to see Reina, Carra and the King. But alas, i cant see any.
*
very very correct. I wanted to reply on some complains that captain marvel isnt coming & liverpool may have exploited giving the news until last minute. (couldnt access the net yesterday & was soo busy whole of today)

I got my tickets to watch Liverpool FC, if my gerrard comes, its extra bonus. there are already plentiful of bonues when most of the Liverpool players are coming & will be featuring in next seasons games!

I wanted to add this tour is about Liverpool fc & not gerrardpool FC tongue.gif , which is why even in the masters where the old guards were down, they represented Liverpool & I'm happy many pool fans came, we ought to give credit to where its due unlike forever offering praises in comparison that of the slickness, sophistication PR of devils. (they spend big which we are quite alien to us then)

A mopping player may be bad for team morale? Furthermore, maybe we (liverpool) aren't as brutal as some media tries to label us as. cool2.gif

QUOTE(Duke Red @ Jul 15 2011, 11:54 AM)
Having said all that, rivalries are just that. I've attended viewing parties involving Liverpool vs. Man Utd games and nothing usually happens despite all the booze. There is no violence without provocation. Having said that, yesterday's incident was hardly violent.

Easy to adopt a holier than thou attitude but I dare say the same would have happened if it were the mancs training and a Liverpool fan started flaunting his jersey off. Wouldn't it also be the same had an Indonesian fan walked around showing off this Indonesian team jersey during a Harimau Malaya event? Stop calling the kettle black everyone.
*
i was actually 20m behind duke (he was in white MyRawK jersey i believe), a bit closer to the fence,
there might be some truth to some provocation on the poor chap's part.

In honesty there were more then several other individuals around the stadium I've seen in Manu jersey & even Arsenal too. (no reported booing incidents on them). my wife was happily taking photos around. and yes, she's a 'red devil' sympathizer mad.gif but she aint crazy to don a manu jersey,.. heck she don't even own one or have one at home ! i forbid!! whistling.gif

on the training ground, i kinda like aquilani touches. unfortunately 'he' may be a 'luxury' player given the 'domestic challenges' we face next season. they may not 'allow' him to settle on neat touches without hacking unlike continent opponents.
