QUOTE(dundermifflin @ Jun 27 2011, 09:51 AM) hate to say this as rival, but i think its fabulous.. nice combination colours and design. more like standard chartered blue...... but i dont think sky blue are associate to Liverpool. maybe usual red /green /yellow /grey made more associate.. now that they have influenced the shirt design, next they probably influenced the playing stuff to sign Asian players to appeal their main market over here... |

QUOTE(Duke Red @ Jul 7 2011, 02:29 PM) oh.. ok Thanks... and i agree with you on this one. Liverpool's history and roots are bolted tight on the city of Liverpool and its people. the scouse. It used to be an exclusive club. they dont care if their team play in what devision and win naugts. What matters is they are proud of suppoting their club. the icon of their culture. If their club win, they will be extremely proud because its exclusively theirs. thanks to capitalism and globalism, they have no choice but to share their jewel with the rest of the world. There are now a minority of their own club... i also would be pissed if i am in their position... and money should not be an issue at all to justify changing the club's identity and culture path. just because fans outside Liverpool contribute more money doesnt mean the club change who it is. Liverpool is not Asian or American as is Chelsea is not Russian... they are still British.... My points is. If you want to support other people's club, its just right that you must learn and adopt to their culture. That is if you want the respect and link to the real origin of the club that is. QUOTE(Duke Red @ Jul 15 2011, 10:54 AM) I said it was rude because in the end, all fans should be united under one banner, the clubs - YNWA. That being said, I don't condone crowd violence. However this incident happened about 100 feet from where I was and I couldn't get a clear view. What I was told by friends who were there however that prior to that he was walking around proudly showing his jersey off to everyone. This is provocation and it says something that he wasn't beaten up. He made his way to his seat with no problem which leads me to believe that he did just what I heard. Thus I urge those who weren't there not to jump to conclusions. Having said all that, rivalries are just that. I've attended viewing parties involving Liverpool vs. Man Utd games and nothing usually happens despite all the booze. There is no violence without provocation. Having said that, yesterday's incident was hardly violent. Easy to adopt a holier than thou attitude but I dare say the same would have happened if it were the mancs training and a Liverpool fan started flaunting his jersey off. Wouldn't it also be the same had an Indonesian fan walked around showing off this Indonesian team jersey during a Harimau Malaya event? Stop calling the kettle black everyone. Let alone seeing an Indonesian/singapore jersey during a Harimau Malaya event, i would have booed even if their country's name is mentioned in the stadium PA system... which i sure, we will get the same treatment in Jalan Besar this 23rd. which strike me very ironic that you all get all sensitive about your OOT friend's feeling when beeing booed but feels ok to gang up against a solitary fan who want to make a point on who he is supporting. There was no violence , sure, but at a ratio of 1000:1, it would be very cowardly on the gang side to resort to that. But on the scale of 'rude'ness, i am sure the solitary fan felt much worse than you OOT friends. if you respect the rivalry between Liverpool and Man U, then you must also understand the rivalry between Malaysian and Singapore/Indonesia. I am sure the OOTs expects that when they came to the capital stadium of malaysian football. Judging from the matchs vs Arsenal, its not far fetched to anticipate that the Indonesian and Singaporean Reds will boo our national team players tomorrow. Under the banner of Malaysian, what will you do about it? Strip them of their shirt? This is not just a Liverpool event you know. I am led to belive that this is a Harimau Malaya event too.... |

QUOTE(DeepDish @ Jul 15 2011, 06:53 PM) bro this between club and country!! not country and country! see the different?? you always moaning bila ade tak kene... why dont you moaning at proevents instead??? if a 80 people state vs state match they can play national anthem, why not a 80,000 full house bukit jalil match involving the senior national team? it is our local norm here to play national anthem at matches. it is a perfect ocassion for them to play the national anthem. yet the organizers ignorantly still choose not to. And i cant voice our opinion about it? in lowyat.net nonetheless where i have seen anything and everything been dumped freely in here? sorry to dissapoint you but there is still a lot of those where it came from and what you can do is only discuss what i say and not deny my right to say it... QUOTE(Duke Red @ Jul 15 2011, 01:59 PM) On the contrary, it was a Liverpool training session. The Harimau Malaya one was earlier which I attended as well. From the perspective of a Liverpool fan, I think that everyone in a red shirt deserves the same amount of respect especially when we were given the same when we visited their country. I know Singaporean Reds and they are good lads. It wasn't about Singaporean Reds vs. Thai Reds vs. Indonesian Reds vs. Malaysian Reds. It was about all Liverpool fans going to watch the team train, the same team we all support. We can't preach about solidarity and sing YNWA when we isolate sections of fans. In the context of Harimau Malaya, should it matter if you're a fan from Terengganu or Kelantan, or should you forget your rivalry for one day to unite under 1 banner? Thats depends on the situation. What will be the response at Anfield if the PA system, as a horst to a England match, welcomes england's supporting party from Manchester QUOTE In terms of the guy that got picked on, I did sympathise until I heard he was goading fans in the first place. Do the crime, do the time. It would be cowardly for a crowd to beat up a guy but like I said, there was no violence. the solitary fan also did not conform to your ideals. But your liverpool fans gang up to do something about it. From what i hear he is not badmouthing liverpool. he was just showing his guts to kiss his shirt badge in a Liverpool crowd. In terms of tomorrow's match, there is no ideal situation so I can't give you an answer. You get fans who boo Liverpool players as well e.g. Poulsen. One can only hope that in general, common sense prevails but you can't expect everyone to conform to your ideals. i cant imagine what happen to him if he badmouth Liverpool team. What if the Singaporean and Indonesian fans badmouth MALAYSIA? the Singaporean public is hardly allowed to vocally support their team in the stadium. What will they think of us if they are allowed to curse our team at ours? The least i expect from you is that eventhough you receive the OOTs as guest, please remind them of their position as guest and you are not having it if they do any gesture to undermine our national team.. the worst i expect is for you to join them booing our national team also. Mikeshashimi drag me in here... or GTFO please.... that way -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> its just so happen that i felt provoked by Liverpool fans goading their liverpool shirts in Stadium National Bukit Jalil the other day so i voice my opinion in the Malaysia thread. Not that i gang up to strip you of your shirt or anything. Nor do i use the police force to control what specific colour of shirt that you wear. what trigger Mike's button is this comment QUOTE(ameenskywalker @ Jul 18 2011, 12:32 AM) Aku x mengharap sgt ramai, diorang pegi stadium sebab lawan team epl, alang2 Msia score Sorak skali. QUOTE(aressandro10 @ Jul 18 2011, 12:48 AM) takdelah... base pade tahap emo fan liverpool dgn kata2 RG yang 'salah' tu, aku 'yakin' fan liverpool memang sokong malaysia bebtol di hati. bukan alang2 Mesia score saja.... kompem sumer 80k 'penyokong Malaysia' kat Anfield aritu akan datang Bukit Jalil hari khamis nanti.. So any "Liverpool jersey wearing Malaysia supporter" here want to prove that i am WRONG by commiting to also go to support Malaysia at the Singapore game?derang memang commited untuk sorak bila mesia score. camne derang nak sorak bila mesia score kalau derang tak datang stadium kan.... On the contrary, are there any "Liverpool jersey wearing Malaysia supporter" want to prove that i, and Rajagobal, is RIGHT by NOT wanting to go support our national team vs Singapore? i dont mind being wrong. QUOTE(Duke Red @ Jul 18 2011, 12:31 PM) I see we're revisiting an old topic again. Now let me first say this. Since our last discussion, I've made it a point to follow the national team play, beginning with the Suzuki Cup Final win over Indonesia. I've noticed we have quality players especially in the form of Safee Sali, Ahmad Fakri Shaarani, Safiq Rahim and S.Kunanlan. They may not be at the top of everyone's list but they are the players I've singled out. I only wished that Safee Sali were a little younger so he'd have a longer career ahead though he isn't exactly an old man at 27. For the benefit of the national team, I'm hoping that Safiq will finally decide to play in Indonesia to further improve his game. From what I've seen, you'll be hard pressed to find a better striker of the ball in Asia. Bro.What's my point? If this trend continues, fans will naturally return despite the increasing popularity of the EPL. Supporting one doesn't mean not supporting the other. I saw many fans with Liverpool kits also having Malaysian headbands for example, or face paintings. Also, it was just a friendly game. Liverpool's first visit to Malaysia ever and the first ever time over 90% of Liverpool fans here have EVER seen the team play live. Some have been fans for 20 odd years. I don't expect everyone to understand the magnitude of the occasion especially if you just casually support an EPL club. For some, it was and is a chance of a lifetime. Now on the topic of helping the national team regain support, I've always felt it was more fruitful to guide fans rather than to talk down to them. The thing is many people either aren't articulate enough or do not have the necessary soft skills to do this. Instead you hear language like, "ah traitor to the country", "unpatriotic", etc. Now people can have a multitude of reasons for not being as passionate as you. Don't pretend to understand what they are because from what I've seen, not many are matured enough to understand what empathy is including our ministry. Their understanding of encouragement is to force. When national day comes everyone MUST fly the national flag. To promote the national car, we raised import duties on foreign cars to astronomical figures, forcing the average Malaysian to but local cars. It may take more work but I've always felt that understanding someone and addressing his concerns and issues bring about more permanent results. Then again, who likes more work right? We now have a quality product in the form of our national team. Based on recent form, I'm confident we'll get pass Singapore. Can't say much about the Olympic Qualifiers though. Japan are a different class and we'll need to be at our best against Bahrain and Syria. In summary instead of sulking and acting out when you don't see the support you want. Try guiding and educating. Our discussions have convinced me to follow the national team again and I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before more follow suit. for the sake of this thread i am replying this without even reading your post. i know where its heading if i do but and i dont really want to go there in here. Just re-assure that i will read it afterwards and all your point will be noted. EDit : actually that was really a good encouraging post. i really do felt ENCOURAGE. Thank you for you effort and opinion bro. This post has been edited by aressandro10: Jul 18 2011, 12:45 PM |
