Planning to enhance audio system in my BLM, but don't have much budget for this moment....

Should I change the head unit first or the speakers?

Changing new head unit will improve the sound quality or not? smile.gif

i changed both. new component speakers put at front door. however i suggest u do some soundproofing to front doors if u wan put speakers there. cos when the bass kicks in, the door metal vibrate like hell. interfere my music experience.
*
yea...soundproof is essential for BLM's door, bro, how much do you spend for doing soundproof and speakers?

I'm planning to change HU is because I need USB connectivity, the stock HU is really bad, only can support CD. sad.gif

If want to soundproof front door for sound system, do it properly.

Do not use insulflex, instead u should use damping material.

Depends on quality and brand, i DIY my front door, 3 layer damping+1 layer sound absorbing, around RM620 for material only, if done by shop, add RM180-200 for that.

The result is it can block the noise outside, stop the door, windows rattling and most important, even cheap speaker can sound nice.

If you just want the USB connectivity, change the HU.

If you want the better sound, sound proof and change speaker.

But honest speaking, stock speaker is 5'25' paper cone full range, bass still ok, mid and high range really muffle to my ear, even change HU also won't help.
*
Thanks for the info smile.gif

Only front door soundproof costs you RM620? wow, that's expensive.

Anyone had already installed Pioneer HU in BLM? Can it be fitted nicely? I mean same like the stock HU, can fully fit in without any convex from front side.

I rather don't want the stock safe tint from Proton, saw the quote, RM650, if remove it seems a bit waste.

Jerrymouse:

I suggest you to install a good tint though it's more expensive, don't waste money to install 'normal cheap' tint, no use 1...

Added on June 14, 2011, 1:56 pmBTW my FL Exec came with Proton's Ecotint but an extra 3M quality film was added mainly for heat repelling properties. So still good light penetration lo...hehe... wink.gif
*
My mom's Myvi installed a tint with NICEKOOL brand, RM900, very effective, I did not feel hot from inside, I'm gonna install to my saga soon. biggrin.gif

this handle you're suppose to put your thumb on the left side and push your thumb and at the same time pull the handle
i remember cuz the SC guy tell me be4...if u open it wrongly...the handle will broke
i saw alot of ppl still dn't know how to open this handle properly...the open it same like the old version one
*
ya, agree with you... i also use your method, some people who don't know how to open, they will use 2 hands to pull the handle... mad.gif sooner my door handle will break too. sad.gif

How about Caltex? Seems nobody was discussing about this...I feel Caltex's fuel consumption is not good, about 70km will drop 1 level out of 6, i used to drive on highway.

Dun think using rear demister wld cause that. I had 3M tint on all windows for myvold ride. I also used the demister quite often. No bubbles.

The only effect (after >15 years) was the lines of the heater element became more "prominent"...

IMHO Bubbling mainly due2 poor quality tint +/- poor workmanship? wink.gif
*
The bubbles appear on the yellow lines of rear windscreen, that's why i suspect is caused by demister? lol.

or it might be the the quality of the tint film.. but that would be really bad quality already..
*
My car already 1 year old, it's time to change new tint, i noticed most of the cars which have bubble, are coming from rear windscreen.

now I am really in a dilemma whether to put on a new tint or leave it with the stock tint for 1-2 years before changing it to a new one...

didn't know that saga FL comes with tint.. and the SA gave me tint voucher which i now find it abit rugi..
*
I can say stock tint is quite useless, it can't resist heat at all, and the tint voucher is totally rubbish, the SA already pakat with tint shop, they just want to trick you only.

Better go to other tint shop and install a good tint. tongue.gif

went to brothers they quote around 800-900 for the floor,4 doors and if got remainder add to the car trunk.
ask one of the lyners he quote Rm880 and that material just OEM not the STP.Besides that i found the autofoam they use a different method of soundproofing and guranteed good insulation but the price super expensive but it is overall the car i just did an estimation according to their price and it came up to 2.9k. biggrin.gif
*
RM800 for 4 doors and floor is quite cheap already...I think Penang can't get this price. sad.gif

Btw, what materials used by brothers? Dampening?

My 1.3 Auto has a slight jerk if & when:
1. RPM @arnd 4k...IAFM kicking in!
2. Aircon compressor kicks in...most probably yr prob? Coz yu hv "cit" sound mayb caused by belt slipping abit?

If can reproduce sound every time, best 2send 2SC if under warranty... wink.gif
*
I also suspect the air compressor kicks in, but it only happen when i accelerate up to 90-100km/h and above.

It should reproduce the jerk every time, quite annoying. vmad.gif
