hi guys,

i just got my UniFi today but sadly my room has no signal at all. I have to go to the living room (where the set is stalled) to get my connection.

I searched previous threads and found many ppl talking about replacing DIR-615. My question is what is a DIR-615? Cox I dun seem to have this router. I only have the RG (TMRND Gen 1.0), the BTU, the box for the TV and the phone.

Please advice.

The one with antenna. Before this TM only using Dlink (white+orange colour). Now they also got Black 1 from TMRND.

Hi all, can anyone recommend me a wifi router with strong signal that can be used for unifi? Also need help with a good pci wifi card. Thx in advance for the tips.
*
hi there.. can i ask if u r using the RG TMRND Gen 1.0?
me waiting for a suggestion too actually.

this site suggets replacement option for TM's DIR-615.

http://klseet.com/index.php?option=com_con...id=42&Itemid=39

This thread also mentioned that both DIR-615 and TMRND are the same. (if i understand correctly)
so I suppose those who r using TMRND can refer to this site too.

my case is...there is no signal at all in my room. (the router is located in the living room)
My dad said that there are many 'walls' blocking the signal.
so i wanna know which wireless router can solve this kinda situation better.

thanks to those who can help. biggrin.gif

How far is the distance between your room and the living room? No many ppl using tmrnd now. Unless if you loan it to those sifus to try it out else no one can answer you i think. This is IF you want the TM RND router to run in bridge mode.

Else, you can get TP-Link W8960N(3dBix2)/TP-Link TL-WR841N(5dBix2)/TP-Link TL-WR741N(5dBi)/Asus N56(2 x internal antenna for 2.4GHz application with 3.8dBi gain 3 x internal antenna for 5GHz application with 5.1dBi gain)/Asus N13(2 x internal antenna
Antenna Gain in 3 dBi)
as COMPLETE replacement for TM RND router. For this solution, you need to ensure that the signal can reach your room too. All of them have antenna of higher gain then d-link dir615-1.8dBi ( i think higher than TM RND also---someone please confirm this)  This means throw away the black thing and use just one of the router suggested. Another method, buy repeater or if you're sure that your room and living room is on same phase, get homeplug and connect to your room.
@klseet
Erm... I found this from W8960N spec on tp-link website
Data Rates
Downstream: Up to 24Mbps
Upstream: Up to 3.5Mbps (With Annex M enabled)
Anything to do with UniFi?? No right. This refers to adsl right?

Info from: http://klseet.com/

hi..thx for ur reply...

it's about 60 feet, from living room to my room.

i have decided to change the black tmrnd...it's just that i dunno which wireless router to chose (among the suggested).
cox i dunno how to ensure which one can reach my room (signal). sweat.gif

Hi guys, I just bought TR-WL841N..I am having problems setting up the router.

After I have entered my username and pw..the system states that these setting have been saved to desktop.

Then the system continued to configure the router setting..

the system shows "TICK" for "successfully configure router"...
but when it comes to "verified router setting"...the system shows a "cross".

Can anyone plz tell me wat could be the problem with this?

Thanks in advance.smile.gif

Have you flashed it or you just buy from the shop and did nothing on it then straight key in password on factory firmware after that?
*

Take a look. When you buy it, you should've asked the shop fellow to flash it to UniFi Custom Firmware for you else you need to DIY.
That router, yes, it supports unifi but need to flash it with customized firmware by TP-Link itself. What is firmware, if you asked. It's like BIOS in your PC. Assume if you don't know what is BIOS, just take it as the Operating system of your computer (Windows Vista/XP/7). The normal installaed OS(operating system) won't allow the router to connect to UniFi. The OS need to be modified by someone(don't care who he/she is) in order to make you be able to connect to UniFi. But in the case, you need to get that Custom Firmware for your router (I only take operating system as example. Doesn't mean you need to change your operating system), flash it (install it) and then only you can connect to UniFi. Now... Get it??

This mean STOCK FIRMWARE doesn't support UniFi.  icon_idea.gif

tongue.gif thx man, for the detailed explanation. i did read dat page b4, but u know,
i am not a "computer kind of person", and i dun understand dat part
so i just skip dat part automatically, thinking dat it isnt important blush.gif

but after reading ur explanation, i roughly have an idea wat firmware is ... brows.gif

will try and DIY myself tmr...

sweat.gif er...can i ask one more question...i have just downloaded the firmware..and found this (see attachment)
for some reason the wr841nv7_en_3_12_5_up(101224) (i think i am suppose to "install" this) is in VLC format.
i guess i have to change it to sth else...and i dunno wat....
could u plz kindly advice on this as well....rclxub.gif

Many thanks ya... wub.gif

Go back to the klseet page and see under "Setup for UniFi".

Follow the instruction.. You will select the file to install it to the router through the web interface. Don't worry it's show as VLC file in your computer.
*
QUOTE(frozzbyte @ Aug 1 2011, 12:41 AM)
That's because your VLC set *.bin as VLC file type. No worries, just follow the guide and you'll be fine. Don't skip any step and read carefully.

thx for all ur help...hmm..i tried to follow the UniFi setup.

but still failed to connect to the Internet.

the pc can detect the wireless network, but failed to connect.
(It shows No Internet Access)

I have even tried the MTU thingy. rclxub.gif

does anyone know wat could be the problem?
i know it is hard to tell what went wrong..plz advice if anyone can help.

Updated: 1) all the lights (of the wireless router) are working fine...

2) As for the TV, I can watch the 'general view' in 100..but if i press OK to watch certain channel, say NTV 7, the screen will turn blank.
