Are you testing the speed via LAN cable or Wifi ?

IPTV should be smooth all the time from the start.

Wifi. I'm connected wirelessly as the router is in the hall and my laptop is in my room. No issues with the speed anyway. It's just the spikes

Did your connection get better after a few days when it "stabilizes"?

By the way this TM N-router is giving me crap signals. And I don't live in a huge condo.... sheesh

The signal should be ok if there's no other wifi network around but CONDO... My laptop can get 10+ wifi network anytime. Interference then causes tonnes of problem.

Hi guys, i looked through the thread and saw that many users are also discussing about the problem of their smartphones connecting to the Wifi network but cant surf the net.

I am having the exact same problem, and was wondering if there was any solution already discussed? thx in advance all.

Ps; im also using the tmnet free wifi-router (by TM RnD)

I suggest getting the TP-Link W8960N, about RM120. No firmware mods needed, works out of the box just refer to KLSeet's blog.

Hey guys a piece of advice for you all.
Recently my unifi cable got bitten off by rat. I know it sounds funny but it's real unfortunate for me.
Called up technician to fix for me but apparently they can only re-attach the cable and you know what. The line is not stable anymore and keep getting different speed everytime I do the speed meter.

Had told this to the technician and they're well known of this. The only thing they can do for me is to re-do the whole new wiring again which will costs me another RM200. (Can't be waived due to not their fault as told T.T)

So I advise you guys before the installation remember to put some casing on the cable in case this thing might happen on you..

A number of possible issues. Firstly, could be wifi congestion. 2.4 ghz spectrum supports 3 networks and some level of interference starts when this is exceeded. If you are in my location, seeing something like 12 networks is not uncommon, interference will affect your bandwidth etc etc. Secondly, whilst I am going to replace the TM router at some point, my current setup is still using the TM router and having an Airport Extreme connected in bridge mode. Two months of testing so far and everything seems fine. Get a high end consumer (or business) grade router and you will find less issues with network connections. Run multiple devices on the networks and everything works lout of the box.

All the file sharing sites are slow, not sure if it's due to the maintenance they're doing or it's the throttling. Everything else is fine so I guess it's the latter.

I also realize slowdown when streaming YouTube video. Previously 1080p videos loads without any buffering on my VIP20. Now it buffers quite abit.

Not only that, even my iTunes downloads are taking forever! What the heck is going on...?!

Anyone else experienced similar problems?

Ohya gaming also affected, I usually get around 99-110ms in oz servers for Black Ops but since Sat it's been averaging about 160ms+

Yeah, I've noticed a big hit to latencies as well. Everything takes twice as longer on Final Fantasy 14 and I get frequent disconnects where there's nothing being transferred at all.

First of all I just want to share something I discovered, which may be of interest for someone with specific problem like mine.

I Posted this message in Dec 2010: Link

Here is my original home network configuration:
user posted image

But turn out that I need more connections, so I added a 8 port switch:
user posted image

But in my room where the IPTV is, I also needed internet connections for upstair usage. So this IPTV cable would have used up the only network connection. So I thought I maybe able to add another switch BEFORE the IPTV to allow network cable sharing. From that switch, one outlet will link to IPTV decoder, another outlet will be able to connect to another computer with wire:
user posted image

But it failed. Either the IPTV will not be able to connect to receive IPTV info, or the internet failed to connect when both are up.\

So I loss hope when no one can provide practical solution ...

Until last week ! When I read that someone can use an old wireless router to be used as Wireless Access Point ! HERE & HERE.

So since I have an old Streamyx D-link 2640b lying idle around. I have decided to replace the 2nd switch (for the IPTV) with this old router as Wireless Remote Access Point upstair. As illustrated below:
user posted image

This surprisingly solve my months long problem ! As long as I follow the above link to configure the 2nd Router (as wireless Access point). So with this configuration, I manage to watch IPTV while at the same time allow internet access either by linking to the router or through wireless access.

-----------------------

The 2nd Router (as wireless remote access point) was originally TM property, so the firmware was specifically designed for TM. I updated the firmware with the latest firmware from the D-link website (South-East Asia edition) before using it as Wireless Access Point.

So those of you who already have home network cable in-place, one single network cable can finally used to connect IPTV & internet at the same time.
