We'll i've finally receive my 24" Widescreen from Dell. First impression, its longer than my 20". Huge? Yes to a certain extent but not as huge as a 30". Maybe Im used to my 20" already smile.gif . The unit doesnt have any dead pixel / backlight leakage. Let's get straight to the details

Dell 2001FP
Size: 35cm (H) X 44.6cm (L)

Dell 2405FPW
Size: 36.5cm (H) X 56cm (L)

Color (Rate 1 Poor - 5 Excellent)
Dell 2001FP - 4.5 (weak in blacks)
Dell 2405FPW - 4.5 (weak in blacks)

Overall both units offer great color reproduction but it requires some tweaking. Slight edge to Dell 2405FPW as the color is much more vibrant.

Brightness
Dell 2001FP - very bright
Dell 2405FPW - even brighter than 2001FP by default.

Good or bad? Well its definitely up to preference, i definitely prefer it brighter than being dim. sweat.gif

Movies (Rate 1 - 5) - testing movie: Matrix series
Dell 2001FP 4.5 - great movie playback but dark scenes are seemingly slightly bright. No ghosting/streaking/blurring in fast pace scenes.

Dell 2405FPW 5 - excellent movie playback, dark scenes are really dark. No ghosting/streaking/blurring in fast pace scenes as well. Widescreen rules. 16:10

Games (Rate 1 - 5) - UT2004, Doom 3. F.E.A.R, HL2
Dell 2001FP 5 - The fast SIPS-panel definitely shines better in this area especially in dark areas. No ghosting /blurring.

Dell 2405FPW 4.9 - The Samsung panel is not bad either considering the size of panel. Although on sheet its 12ms, its definitely NOT. If 2001FP is 16ms, this one is definitely 16ms as well. BUT, the black-to-black transition is definitely weaker than 2001FP maybe by 1ms. No ghosting but there's a slight blurring for black-to-black image movement. Very minimal which you cant notice unless you really look hard at it.

Conclusion
Its definitely a great purchase for a 24" LCD at this price. Both LCDs are great. I wouldnt say which would have won, base on their own size comparison, I can conclude. For Dell 2001FP ,among 20" LCDs its one of the best and 2405FPW is one of the best among 24" LCDs. biggrin.gif

Sorry for the bad photos, im a lousy photographer. Just took a couple of quick photo before giving back the camera.
