QUOTE(Hornet @ Jun 9 2011, 08:01 PM) How did Malaysian let these mentally handicapped bunch have so much power? The next time a politician says we are a democratic country, someone should punch him in the face. This is far from democracy. in malaysia, democracy means You Vote, We Decide. who do you think SKMM head is? gomen. and How deeply rooted is TM with the gomen ppl? now that streamyx cannot handle the load anymore (cannot sustain what they promised, the bandwidth because they wanna earn MOREEEEE), they command SKMM to issue this order, so they have valid reason to reduce the load...

hypocrites spotted. stop trying to defend this bill.
seriously whatever@!$nova thing, can i catch u and put u into jail just because u live near a red light district?
of course not. that's common sense. no matter how many ppl around u use downloading sites as piracy, u dont involve innocent corporations who really use them for legal purpose by blindly blocking everything filehost-related.
and of course we can't find ppl in lowyat using them legally in those threads, they are just normal users. if u r a corporate user using megaupload to share files, will u come lowyat buy acc? funny.

QUOTE(linkeong @ Jun 10 2011, 11:41 AM) I have a megaupload premium lifetime account, if you see the files I share inside, they are all photos from DSLR (which are huge) and powerpoint presentations, how is that illegal? they don't care, SKMM is prolly only being directed by TM/gomen to issue this order. so that they no need to pay more in acquiring global bandwidth and they can continue to oversell their unifi/screamyx.

QUOTE(Sey @ Jun 10 2011, 01:51 PM) So why is this pressure not extended to other countries? Piratebay/Megaupload/Megavideo/Fileserve/etc is not blocked in other countries. The only one implementing this block is bolehland. Its so blatant to see that the gomen/tmnuts is doing this in order to conserve bandwidth. Afterall, those sites are the most "used" sites for filesharing/downloading. I could somewhat understand blocking piratebay/warez-bb but not the filesharing sites (megavideo, megaupload, etc). Mininova being stripped down is not the same as this and is a terrible example. What happened was that the site had to remove their copyright content after being served by legal means/papers. This on the otherhand is outright blocking. As many others have stated, if they cared about preserving copyrights the appropriate action would be informing the respective file sharing providers to remove the illegal content. totally agree. msia gomen only know how to deny negative differences with other countries with excuses. "our ranking drop because THEIR ranking standard is not in favor for us" "our ranking drop because others discriminate us" msia gomen always right, never wrong. this time, gomen will say this is the right thing to do, because THEIR piracy policy not same with ours.

QUOTE(amduser @ Jun 13 2011, 04:22 PM) doesn't matter we vote who, nothing much will be change since whatever party is having the same mindset they block file sharing website, but not porn, which mean i still can stream i only want them to block PPS and nothing else we are already living in a (way way) below optimal internet country, I'd rather place my vote for new hope rather than voting the proven-to-be-rotten gomen.

QUOTE(kaeyny @ Jun 14 2011, 08:06 PM) who knows today they block hosting file and pornography website and in the future they may block some website that have potential to become major threat to their politic. that's what i'm worried about. the consequence of blocking these dl sites itself is not serious, what's more serious is this means they can do whatever they want from now on since already got "first example" (in law). i'm guessing facebook and youtube would be the next. especially youtube since it takes up the most streaming bandwidth. TMnut cannot earn if we all watch youtube!

QUOTE(tartputat @ Jul 23 2011, 12:12 PM) The more they block, the more clever we will be as we are going to bypass all this stupid nonsense censorship. Just look at China where government are very strict with internet sharing but still, they are still able to bypass all of that. they are able? u've only see 0.0000001% of them cared to bypass. others not so techsavvy ones all got forced to use their localised, tempered, domesticated services like RenRen, QQ, etc. if Malaysia keeps censoring.... we'll have to use 1social.com and 1im soon = =```
