Wrong. It is a serious move, especially in a country where TV stations and Pay TV providers are made of epic fail.
Download what? Slackware Linux is only reliably obtainable through BitTorrent now (you go and look in the mirror pages. All empty directory with instructions on getting the torrent. At best you find an incomplete CD image set. Especially bothersome if you want to get the 64-bit version of Slackware, which is apparently only available as a DVD ISO and no mirror is actually carrying it). As much as I dislike using BitTorrent I ended up using it to get Slackware.

Malsingmaps is also f**ked for Malaysians - no easy way to get download.

And biggest b***h of all is that we have been lied to and have our freedom taken away. Losing something as important as freedom to express and communicate is a very serious thing.

I'm all with you... its bad enough tv stations and pay tv providers were heavily controlled, now they want to play with internet as well??? I got really pissed off when they decided to target all these sites.

Even right now no one is making an issue out of this internet censorship, sadly.
Most malaysian are just not well informed enough to know the consequences of internet censorship, they don't know what it can lead to if the government is allow to block internet sites as they wish.

Even worse is the local artist support SKMM, as if people wants their steaming pile of sh*t to begin with. Those people are mentally handicapped, again failing to see why internet censorship is just wrong. And delusional too, thinking this will actually stop downloaders and make people buy their crap.

I am aware, but what can we do for now? to get a significant change of situation? Out of ideas.

Most of us here who are computer-literate knows about it, but unfortunately we're only a small majority of young Malaysians  sad.gif

People like our parents, our uncle aunty, the older generations, they are all not aware of this, which is why the government is not under pressure, and it goes practically unnoticed.

For example, the 1.8million dollar Facebook page fiasco, that is generating more media attention which forces the government to response to the criticism because everyone knows whats going on, they know that it is bad. But internet censorship, most people don't understand why it can lead to bad things.

If they are capable of even censoring pay tv, internet is also nothing to them... But does anyone cared about pay tv being censored? That answer would eventually be the same for internet. And as long there would be a method to bypass the censoring, Malaysians would be more than happy enough to keep using that method rather than continue complaining... =/ the typical i don't care after i get what i want users... lol
