I think what exentric_nova said is true but he or she is in the wrong place of this world.
The root of piracy is hard to determine but it runs deep in Malaysia to an extend that it is quite hard to eradicate. You never know for sure who is in the right or who is in the wrong. Even the supposed "right" is not totally innocent.
Humans follow the easy way out, that is just how it is most of the time. What anyone is doing to stop piracy shall not succeed because like an old Chinese saying, if you tried to burn down a field of grass but left its root untouched, when spring comes it will grow back up again.
I have not met anyone in Malaysia that is "pure", have not done anything illegal yet and have been playing by the rules so far. Maybe exentric_nova is one.

[quote=JohnnyBeGud,Jun 18 2011, 11:44 AM] If you can't afford high speed internet, Astro, Original CDs, ect, then don't buy them. It's not yours to enjoy. Your post above make it seems like entertainment is a must and if you can't afford them, then steal them.
This is what is happening and there are quite a few valid and invalid reasons behind it no matter how mature your thinking is.
Humans are stubborn and the majority of us will find the easy way out. Even your practical take on this matter will be hard to implement because it is not as easy as it sounds.

QUOTE(myvi5949 @ Jun 18 2011, 12:44 PM) The internet is the only platform that is free. People should stop giving their freedom away. The government to control tv, radio, newspaper.. now they want to control the internet. Come on people dont be such fags and fight for your rights as netizens. If people dont support freedom on the internet then it will be just another controlled media.. internet is the last frontier for to get free unbiased information from many different sources. You cant stop piracy on the net. The entertainment business have not adapt to the internet revolution.. it screwing them and they opt for the easy solution. Why find an affordable solution when you can just ask your "friends" to do the dirty work for them. Just block these sites.. F&*K those teenagers or young people who cant buy original Lady Gaga album that cost RM40. You're too poor to listen to music. Ohh wait..Who are the biggest fanbase for these artist???? who?? is it old people that have big salary?? no?? its those young generations that actually supported these artists. Its the students, the 20 something year olds. Ohh yes we can charge RM40 for an album because we can! Who cares when the cost of producing a CD and cover is RM5.. who cares about the economy or the laymen on the streets we are "artists" and we are suppose to be rich! The whole point of the internet is to provide content rich access for everybody. Why dont they use the internet to cut cost and charge on content basis. Look how iTunes are doing it. CD Audio is being replace and is getting more obsolete. Those people who cry foulplay and run to their BN "uncles" to block these sites should grow up and think of ways to use the internet instead of blocking it. These industries who fight against freedom on the net are just digging their own graves. Well said on the entertainment industry not adapting.
