Oh great, Tmnut raping us in the anus, AGAIN. I bet they conspired with SKMM to block these sites so they could use cheaper and crappier infrastructure to support their current amount of users. More blocked download sites = cheaper maintenance and more accounts to be sold by Tmnut. Wanna guess how much these cronies idiots are profiting from this? But can they implement it? Is there a way to bypass it? When is the deadline? I can still access the sites listed on their stupid letter though. Final word, are we doomed or is there still a shimmer of hope left? Guys? |

How sure are you guys that the ISPs will use IP protect or DNS filtering?
Cant they use something more exotic that we dont know about? Btw, if they use IP protect or DNS filtering, can we still access these sites using IP only? (I know, dumb question, but I'm not an expert in this). Added on June 11, 2011, 4:41 pm QUOTE(iipohbee @ Jun 11 2011, 04:37 PM) Banning file hosting sites is like accusing post offices and banks of involving in illegal activities with PO Box/safe deposit box services. It doesnt matter if its ethical or uncivilized, as long as the ISPs are stupid enough to comply/conspire with SKMM, they WILL DO IT. Put it this simple way let's say Pos Malaysia offers a postbox service for the public. Then some users illegally used it for distributing illegal items and sharing the location of box with others. So who would you go after if you were the authorities? 1) Close down Pos Malaysia operation and cancel their operating licenses? 2) Go after the PO box subscriber and the parcel sender. 3) Go after the recipient. The ones who open the box (Might be framed or tricked into doing so to get into trouble) If SKMM can directly put the blame on the file hosting company by banning access to them, then by all means our internet days looks gloomy in years to come. They can one day even ban webmail accounts, cloud drives, cloud OS, whatever websites which they "believe" is a threat to them. Many says we are adopting a firewall model similar to China's green dam. To come to think of it, China did it for national security sake and they couldn't risk their big population going on strike. It wasn't fueled by any religion, politics or interests and fear of getting influenced. Our internet firewall model is modeled more towards those of Iran, Saudi Arabia and those Middle East nations. Though their internet filtering mechanism is similar to China's it's not a surprise because China/US companies sold them the technology for the money. Among examples of what those Middle countries do to their internet censorship policies are: 1)Hiring cybertroopers to seek out threats on blogs and public discussion forums. 2)Blocking access to western sites which they deemed or feel not in accordance to their ideologies 3)DPI- Deep packet inspection to monitor, jam and throttle services such as VoIP, file sharing, torrents, etc. Read up about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_censorship_in_Iran http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/conte...09068380136.htm Iran's Internet Censorship Most Sophisticated in The World as reported by OpenNet Initiative. http://www.circleid.com/posts/20090619_ira..._sophisticated/ It's even far worst than any other countries even China which many think is already bad. It's almost totally influenced by politics, anti competition and dictatorship elements. Given between China and Iran/Saudi Arabia, Which model would you think Malaysia's internet is shaping to be and is based upon? This is Malaysia, apa tahi pun boleh, as long as you have the money, power and cronies connection. Lets just hope the ISPs are not as STUPID as we THINK they are. Just say NO to SKMM, they cant arrest the ISP, can they? This post has been edited by ChigurhTroll: Jun 11 2011, 04:41 PM |

They better just block youtube, facebook and all video streaming websites as well. Since they are promoting piracy and eating up a lot of bandwidth as well. Go ahead, block them. I bet nobody would say anything because we are too lansi, carefree and afraid of cronies and BN najis. Young people are protesting but young people are only 20% of the populace, most of them are too young to even vote, the older generations dont really care, they just wanna stay home and watch ASTRO. HOORAY, malaysia BOLEH! |

QUOTE(rizvanrp @ Jun 14 2011, 09:15 PM) You can easily check which DNS servers have blocked the sites via nslookup : Wow, so easy yet not many knows this. Are you a network engineer? ![]() EDIT : If swapping the DNS is not working for you on a TM service (Streamyx/Unifi), it might just be due to DNS caching. Close your browser + make sure you're on OpenDNS/GoogleDNS + run 'ipconfig /flushdns'. Then try pinging one of the blocked sites and you should see the IP address for the domain next to the domain name. If DNS name resolution fails, try setting a static IP mapping in your C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc hosts file. Worst case scenario is they route blackhole the IP addresses for those websites, then you will need a HTTP/SOCKS/PHP proxy/SSH tunnel/VPN to reach them. Added on June 14, 2011, 9:36 pm QUOTE(rizvanrp @ Jun 14 2011, 09:34 PM) They have the firewalls in place to do HTTP header filtering on the Streamyx network (as we saw with the HTTP throttling last year). I think if they go full retard, we'll just compile a thread with every bypass method for each ISP + keep it updated The Cybertrooper of tmnut and BN will see this and report back to their respective retard masters.
