Hey, I'm on 3.2.2 (JB-ed) and tried to update to 5.0.1 via iTunes to JB it after that.

Everything looked OK until I was stuck for very long time in the "backing up" stage. It basically moved a little bit albeit more than 20 minutes already gone... I'm just using the 16GB version. sweat.gif

Now, since the iPad is giving me a lot of problems and I don't have important info or apps that need to be retained nor backed up. Can I just reset everything by selecting "erase all content and settings"? Then, make it like I first bought it and straight update to 5.0.1 then only JB it by following to this tutorial? http://www.redmondpie.com/jailbreak-5.0.1-....9.10b1-corona/

Thank you. This thing is driving me crazy. My last JB was done more than a year ago.. sweat.gif Didn't bother to update it until recently I have compatibility issue in most of the apps I tried to download. They require 4.0 and above.

Appreciate your reply, thanks. smile.gif

I used to be able to drop my magazines and comics (in PDF format) to my iBooks via iTunes. There is a "books" tab for me to do so. After upgrading to 5.0.1 and jailbroken it, I'm unable to do so because this tab is no longer available.

Can somebody tell me where have I done wrongly? sad.gif iBooks is my first love in iPad, without it I don't think I can survive... cry.gif Most of my ebooks are transferred from my laptop.

Thanks, got it. Now it has the "Books" tab. smile.gif
Too bad iBooks is a known bug for this iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak untethered. sad.gif
I got this error: "There is a problem with the configuration of your iPad. Please restore with iTunes or redownload iBooks."
I have no choice but to tap "Quit".

It is just too bad... sad.gif

The previous version of redsn0w fixed that issue but I guess it has come up again. The dev team will release a bug fix soon.

Yeah, I'm waiting for it now. Goodness, gotta keep an eye on this thread or check out those Jailbreak forums.
Seriously iBooks issue is bothering me quite a lot. Hopefully it is just for temporary. biggrin.gif

Hey I thought iPad 1 5.0.1 supposed to have multitasking gesture? I updated and jb-ed and it's not there in the Settings>General

QUOTE(cocklea @ Dec 29 2011, 01:29 AM)
Same thing happened to me, dunno what the hell happened. Now I went back to stock 501 coz im used to the MT gestures.
*
Did you guys mean this?
user posted image

I still see it on my JB-ed iPad. I JB-ed using redsn0w_win_0.9.10b1 and selected Cydia and Multi-Tasking Gestures (if I'm not mistaken) when I performed the JB.

p/s: I'm sorry if I misunderstood your meaning as I was on 3.2.2 all this while and it had no MTG. sweat.gif

OK, thought of sharing this with you guys having iBooks issue. Since this is the only thing that bothered me, so I went around the world (wide web) to search for solutions. smile.gif

This works for me, I hope it helps. smile.gif

0. Delete iBooks and/or every other patch/patches on your iDevice.
1. Install a clean iBooks from the App Store and then restart your phone.
2. Install the iBooks Fix2 from the insanely repository.
3. Respring the iDevice.
4. The Springboard now should crash and go in safe mode (i don't know why, but the only time it crashed and went in safe mode it worked for me), so if it doesn't crash go in safe mode.
5. Restart the phone.
6. Now iBooks will work (at least it worked for me).

I can't get Backgrounder app works on iOS 5.0.1 JB-ed version. sad.gif The multitasking gesture terminates and suspends all my apps running on background.

I remember when I was using the 3.2.2 and had Backgrounder installed in it, everything worked well.

I must admit it is one of my most useful apps but too bad once I updated my iPad to 5.0.1 JB-ed version, it crashes every single time I tried to run it. I have to get into Safe Mode to delete it from Cydia.

Anybody has the same encounter as mine?

I wanted to try MTG but it is terminating every single of my apps running on background when I switched app by pressing twice home button. Every time I switched to the other app and jumped back to the earlier app, whatever I had ran in background disappeared and I had to start all over again. This is useful when I'm reading via iBooks.

Or am I missing some steps on MTG? Please bear with me as it is my first time using MTG and have spent quite some times reading MTG tutorial but doesn't seem to work that well.

I already encountered the same problem as you when I JB on ios5. So I just don't use the Backgrounder.
The MTG is actually functioned the same way as you press twice the home button to switch application. It switch between the task and kept the un-active task in 'native' mode (not running)
*
OK, the issues came when I was reading a comic via my iBooks and switched to Atomic Web to surf net.
Switched back again to iBooks and whatever I was reading missing. sweat.gif
Switched to Atomic Web, it opened a fresh new page. sweat.gif

Er, I'm not sure if I'm against any rule here as I'm pretty new when it comes to JB.

By default the iOS 5.0.1 should have embedded the multi gesture features for iPad 1, go to Settings/General/ MultiGesture and switch toggle to "ON".

If jailbreak but didn't select MTG, then it won't have. smile.gif
Just rerun Redsnow again, I think it has third revision already.

laugh.gif It's OK, I'm also a newbie. tongue.gif

OK, finally got all my stuffs done with this iOS 5.0.1. At the moment, quite happy with it. biggrin.gif
iBooks - Checked. Tried, working well.
Backgrounder - Checked. Tried, working well. Apparently the one found on Cydia is not working and crashed my iPad non-stop. It is a known bug as it doesn't support iOS 5.0 and above. Googled around and found the solution. Dropped into my iPad via iFunBox. So now my apps are running on background while switching. biggrin.gif

Is it? No issue on my side though, it goes to the post which I made yesterday. Anyway, I copied and pasted again. Here are the steps:

Update: The iBooks fix which I posted up there doesn't seem to work with my sister's iPad 64GB 3G.

I tried two times and it still crashes. I tried once on my iPad 16GB non 3G and it works well. Not sure what exactly is happening.

Found another workaround for iBooks crash issue, apparently it works for my sister's iPad, finally. So, I'll be summarizing two solutions into one post.

Try at your own risk.

Solution 1 - iDonnie from Macrumors.com

Solution 2 - From Jailbreak.com (Make sure to have SBSettings installed first)
0. Delete iBooks and/or every other patch/patches on your iDevice.
1. Open SBSettings > Scroll down to bottom > System Wide Options > System Options > Fix User Dir Permissions > Fix Me
2. Follow step 1-5 from this link: http://www.ijailbreak.com/how-to/fix-ibook...0-1-untethered/
3. Respring and now iBooks app icon should appear on your springboard.

p/s: I don't need to go until step 6 from what shown on the site. I managed to get and throw all my PDF stuffs into iBooks and now I'm reading happily on my sister's iPad. smile.gif

Anyway guys, I just encountered this issue with my JB-ed iOS 5.0.1, I was from 3.2.2. So bear with me if me this is stupid. laugh.gif

Don't use your iPad until battery flat out, once you turn it on, you will notice all your apps are misaligned. To solve this, put your iPad into safe mode and restart after that. It should solve the problem.

I encountered this with my own iPad and my sister got nervous when she saw hers like that this morning. So, thought of sharing this with those that don't know. laugh.gif
