so got the ipad booted odi but tethered using redsnow 0.96b6
UNFORTUNATELY
eventough its running 4.2.1 the SHSH is 4.3.5
if i turn off i need to use redsnow if not it stuck back at DFU
is this the end of my journey??? apart from going all the way to 4.3.5???

Do not start with jailbreak progress straightaway. If you have shsh for 4.2.1 in cydia, then follow below steps. Guide is assuming you're using win xp or win 7 and ipad1. (ipad2 cannot use 4.2.1 lah)

1. If u cant exit using the 10 second mode, i read that u can use TU to kick your ipad out from that mode, although i have never tried it myself. But if its in dfu mode and your itunes detects it, i suggest u leave it as it is first.

2. Download official 4.2.1 & 4.3.5. ipsw and keep it in a folder at desktop

3. Referring back to no 1, itunes will prompt you to restore your ipad. Hold the 'shift' key while you click on 'Restore', a box will come out. Navigate to desktop and the folder where u saved your ipsw in no 2. Click on 4.3.5.

4. Itunes will restore your ipad to stock 4.3.5 and if everything goes well, you'll have a working, activated stock ipad in a few mins time.

5. Open TU, and follow exactly the steps given in here to pull and save your shsh from cydia.

6. Once that is done and you can see shsh for 4.2.1 saved, then you're good for the next step. If you dont have then sorry, you will not be able to downgrade your iOS. STAY ON 4.3.5 and use tethered jb from redsnow.

7. In TU, click on START TSS SERVER. This is important and must be done before proceeding.

8. put your ipad in dfu mode again. Repeat step 3, but this time select 4.2.1.

9. Itunes will restore 4.2.1 into your ipad. Once restored, You may stop tss server and let itunes activate your ipad. You'll get a factory clean ipad and you may choose your jailbreak method after that. I prefer jai

i highly doubt there will be a 4.3.5 jailbreak...

because they will rather keep it for iOS 5, which is a major update/release that is coming really soon

the ipad 2 took long enuf to exploit.

and now apple just took a bout 1 week plus to block the exploit.

i doubt many ppl will be bothered now. lols.

There are many ppl still hoping for it la... But then again ios5 will come in 2 months time i believe? And that one don need SHSH anymore. Once you upgrade, you are locked to ios5 and above...

It's lucky that I got mine on 4.33

It depends on how you are upgrading it.

A clean restore (with you downloading the firmware manually first and the pressing the shift key) will wipe your iPad clean (recommended if you wish to sell the device)

A stock restore via iTunes will probably just replace some of the iOS files but technically it does not wipe your device (I think).

Anyway, if you backup, it will restore everything back to normal.

If you jailbreak you can use the restore function when you want to claim warranty it's not a problem.
