Never reset All Settings on a Jailbroken idevices, just restore your iPad to 5.0.1 through iTunes with the DFU mode and re-jailbreak again.

Google how to put your iPad into DFU mode and connect to iTunes to restore to the iOS 5.0.1 all over again.

Tried updating my ipad 1 to 5.0.1 but keep getting an error message saying I can't update. Can anyone help me with this? btw its error 3194.
*
Try this:

Fix Error 3194
The fix is the same regardless of what operating system you are using:

•Quit iTunes
•Locate your hosts file, in Mac OS X this is /etc/hosts and in Windows this is c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
•Open the hosts file with Administrator privileges
•Add the following lines to the very bottom of the hosts file:
•74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com
•Connect your iPad to the computer
•Launch iTunes
•Put the iPad into DFU mode by turning the phone off and then holding down the sleep and power button for 10 seconds, then release the power button but hold onto the home button until iTunes tells you that the device is now in recover mode
•Use the iTunes Restore feature as usual with the iOS device

For those who waiting for iPad 2 jailbreaking, update to 5.0.1 or save your 5.0.1 SHSH blob as soon as possible since iOS 5.1 may be around the corner. Apple have release the 5.1 beta 3 for the developers lately so the ios 5.0.1 will soon be unsigned from apple as soon as the newest ios is release to the public. Pod2G have tweeted that the untethered jailbreak for iPad 2 and iPhone 4S will be out in few days, so cross our fingers.

You have a choice either to believe pod2g and upgrade to 5.0.1 or trust that Apple won't release 5.1 before the jailbreak is released.

Even if you save the SHSH blobs, iOS 5.x does not work like iOS 4. Saving SHSH will not work to restore the iPad 2 to 5.0.1 (People save it just in case the dev team is able in the future to allow this process again)
*
Yup, those with ios 4.3.4, 4.3.5 and 5.0 should update without a doubt but as for those with 4.3.3 will have to make hard decision.

IMHO, I was wondering whether Apple is waiting for the Jailbreak as well to release their iOS 5.1 coz if once the Jailbreak is release to the public, Apple will release the 5.1 to prevent those who are still with 4.3.3 to Jailbreak their device for sometime. Its a cat and mouse game for sure but anyway it's just my own speculation.

Sometimes the lagginess may due to too much Applications running in background, Apple may claim that those Apps that appears in the MultiTasking bar are usually stalled and won't affect the speed of the iPad. Some Apps do runs in the background and you will notice the lagginess or Apps quiting if you running on heavy graphic applications such as games especially with the iPad 1. It's recommended to quits all the Apps in the multitasking bar for certain time and if it don't solve your prob, try soft reset your iPad or the last option is to restore the iOS all over again.

Absinthe have been updated to version 0.1.2-2 to fix the server overload issues, but it's still no sign of windows version yet.

The steps are pretty understandable, unless you guys miss out something here's the guide for windows and Mac user:

Step 1
Download Absinthe;
Extract it;
and launch the Absinthe application.

Step 2
Connect your iPad 2 or iPhone 4S to the computer via USB;
Make sure to disable any passcodes or VPN settings you’ve previously set.

Step 3
Click the Jailbreak button to begin jailbreak iPad 2 or iPhone 4S…

It will take a while on the starting portion;
Then your iPad 2 / iPhone 4S will show restoring a backup saying “Restoring in Progress”;
Your iPad 2 / iPhone 4S will reboot. DO NOT UNPLUG IT YET! when it’s turned on, Slide unlock your iDevice if necessary, waiting for device to finish booting;
Preparing jailbreak data, and Sending payload data.
It will take time, don’t worry.

Step 4
Absinthe will inform you that the jailbreak is ‘Almost done’;
On your iPhone 4S / iPad 2, locate the Absinthe icon and press it to complete your jailbreak. It could be on any homescreen.

If the server is down and you get an Error establishing a database connection message then go to:
Settings > General > Network > VPN and turn ON VPN;
A configuration error; however, after about a minute your device will reboot.
After reboot, there will be Cydia icon on your iDevice screen.
Now you have a 5.0.1 jailbreak A5 device

What is the shift + restore? sorry ask stupid question.. really dunno. huhu
*
When you connect your iPad to the iTunes thru USB the iTunes will show you 2 button which is "update" and "restore", the update button will automatically download a newest signed iOS from the apple server and update your iPad automatically. While the restore button will be use if you have the latest iOS which already downloaded thru your iTunes to restore the FW to your ipad. Pressing the "shift" key and restore button is for restoring a manual downloaded iOS where you will need to locate the iOS that you save to a particular location.

I jb my ip4s and didnt see anything about vpn wor... unsure.gif

The VPN thingy will only be needed if you have Error establishing a database connection message after pressing the Absinthe App for the last jailbreaking process otherwise you don't need to perform the task at all.

Restoring from backup wont lose the jailbreak?
*
Restoring from backup only restore your data and settings you backup earlier, it will not restore your iOS. You won't loose you jailbreak by performing the task.

Try quitting all your apps in the multitasking bar and perform a soft reset(press and hold both standby and home button till your iPad rebooting logo).
