So I can play an offline Wii U no problem from the start? Don't have steady internet connection so it's a risk I'm not willing to take I were to buy one.

Yes, u can play the came without the update.
I was testing out Mario Wii U at the shop before bringing it home..

The update took like 1hr.. when everything was done..even the Mario Wii U has an update.

Hmmm do you need online capability to play Nintendo Land? You need to create your Mii avatar first right?

Can't answer that for now. I have Nintendo Land but I have absolutely no inclination to play it... and yes, u have to create a Mii first.

In that case, you still need to be online for Mii creation, so you can't exactly play it without going online at all, am i right?

Since u use ur mii avatar in miiverse and ur save files all locked to ur mii avatar...i assume u have to make it online so that it can "sync"

Nope. I created my Mii offline and I didn't import the Mii from my 3DS either.
