QUOTE(varblade82 @ Jan 21 2015, 02:24 PM) I've got relatives living in Canada. Is it true I can get a US Wii U unit and use their Canadian address.. then use my credit card to purchase stuff from the Eshoo? In any case, can I just whack anything for a US address.. I know Kyo's FAQ stated that you can just use Google ... I have no idea how. You can whack. Just see if Nintendo accepts it or not. Also, bear in mind that Nintendo can just take away that flexibility. Anytime. And once that happens, you're stuck.

Took about half an hour or so to download on an 8Mbps line....Zzzz...Installation also took about 10 minutes!!! This WIIU installation and downloading really slow... Paid RM 143.97 for it. Oh yeah, to those intending to buy from eshop, make sure you put your US code to a tax free state...if you put your address and zip code to a taxable tax, will need to pay the tax!!!

But different state get taxed at different rate. I set mine to Alberta, 5% tax

I set mine to Alberta, 5% tax Why not just put US? Tax free state? I purchased the gamecard points...sure will be cheaper than credit card...later come statement, RM dropped some more.... Better stock up on eshop cards....i bought at RM3.60 rate...higher rate than current RM value. (now already RM 3.6x) Bought Captain Toad last night, tax free.

Canadian dollar at RM 2.95 rate now wo. If compare US and Canada eshop, example, Mario Kart 8 digital version, US eshop = USD 60 + 0% tax = RM 217.00 Canada eshop = CAN 65 + 5% tax = CAN 68.25 = RM 199.70 Some more, by using credit card, u can pay exact amount USD 60 instead of purchase USD 100 gamecard.

Ooh...thanks for the info...hmm, my account already US, can change to Canadian? But i think for full priced games, i still prefer hard copy...still can sell off next time and make back some money. I haven't gotten my Wii U yet, but if I were to set it up, what considerations do I need to do?
I heard about setting up the country, and how it's best to set it to US (for the eShop benefits mainly). If I were to do this, am I stuck with the US tag?
Also, if I were to do a system update, how long would that take?
Since I might get it today or tomorrow, it's too bad I missed out on the Super Mario Galaxy 2 promotion.
Thanks for reading.

For Super Mario Galaxy 2 promotion, you still can purchase online through nintendo.com website, the download code will send to ur email, today is the last day of the promotion. The country region best is set to either US or Canada, you can switch afterward, no problem.

I haven't got any eShop credit to do that, and it will take some time to get the code, so I am still unsure about how I'm getting it. Is setting up online easy?
Thanks for reading.

System update is freakishly slow....it took me what...4 hours+ including installation....download 3 hours at least....but someone mentioned if you have Super Mario 3D World, you can pop in that disc and it has the system update on the disc, hence will reduce a lot of downloading time. You can try and see. For me, everything has to update...Netflix, Hulu, dunno what else....download and then install...i think total maybe 5 hours...really potong steam...(doesn't matter how fast your internet...i boost my TIME to 50Mbps also still pretty much the same..) You still can softmod your Wii mode to play off from hard disk btw... This post has been edited by Matrix: Jan 22 2015, 03:09 PM

Also, what do you mean by softmod to play off from hard disk? Thanks for reading.
