Yes, you can purchase stuff from Canada eshop using local credit card.
Just google and put any address will do.
But different state get taxed at different rate.
I set mine to Alberta, 5% tax
*
Why not just put US? Tax free state? I purchased the gamecard points...sure will be cheaper than credit card...later come statement, RM dropped some more....

Better stock up on eshop cards....i bought at RM3.60 rate...higher rate than current RM value. rclxms.gif (now already RM 3.6x)

Bought Captain Toad last night, tax free. smile.gif

Canadian dollar at RM 2.95 rate now wo.
If compare US and Canada eshop,
example, Mario Kart 8 digital version,

US eshop = USD 60 + 0% tax = RM 217.00

Canada eshop = CAN 65 + 5% tax = CAN 68.25 = RM 199.70

Some more, by using credit card, u can pay exact amount USD 60 instead of purchase USD 100 gamecard.

Ooh...thanks for the info...hmm, my account already US, can change to Canadian?

But i think for full priced games, i still prefer hard copy...still can sell off next time and make back some money. smile.gif

I haven't gotten my Wii U yet, but if I were to set it up, what considerations do I need to do?

I heard about setting up the country, and how it's best to set it to US (for the eShop benefits mainly). If I were to do this, am I stuck with the US tag?

Also, if I were to do a system update, how long would that take?

Since I might get it today or tomorrow, it's too bad I missed out on the Super Mario Galaxy 2 promotion.

Thanks for reading.
*
System update is freakishly slow....it took me what...4 hours+ including installation....download 3 hours at least....but someone mentioned if you have Super Mario 3D World, you can pop in that disc and it has the system update on the disc, hence will reduce a lot of downloading time. You can try and see. For me, everything has to update...Netflix, Hulu, dunno what else....download and then install...i think total maybe 5 hours...really potong steam...(doesn't matter how fast your internet...i boost my TIME to 50Mbps also still pretty much the same..)

You still can softmod your Wii mode to play off from hard disk btw...rolleyes.gif

Is the latest system update safe? I heard of some accounts of problems involving Smash Bros. and something else (I forgot).

Also, what do you mean by softmod to play off from hard disk?

Thanks for reading.
*
Not sure. My latest update so far ok. No problem.

How do I buy the eshop credit ?

sorry a bit newbie here .. I entered my credit card info (MY credit card) to purchase eshop credit .. I received SMS trasaction succesfull but from E_shop stated transaction did not go through.

Called up the back and they said from thier end transaction was succesfull.

Will I get a refund? or is there anything I could do ? from e-shop it's still showing as 0
*
Just search garage sales. I bought from 1 guy KhetLoong. Send money, then he whatsapp me the codes. Key into e-shop to redeem, kaw-tim. Did you enter your address as US in the eshop? Maybe they check credit card vs the zip code and location.

Why not Gamers Hideout at One Utama then?
*
Gamer's Hideout jalat one...nothing on WiiU games....useless. Don't waste time there. Better ask people in Garage sales better.

There's another show near GH same level, the other side on the way to new wing, i think it has a few more WII U games, not many, anyway, buy online better. It's not WiiU have a lot of games to buy...just buy all the Nintendo title enough liao...pokai oready...sweat.gif

GH has a very, very slim picking of Wii U games on shelf, best to tempered your expectations so as to not waste your petrol and parking.
*
Yep..i stay around there, go One U frequently, pass by everytime nothing to sell on WiiU except motionplus controllers. If you come here purposely, then i guaranteed 1000% you will be dissapointed.

Just received my Bayonetta 2 disc box. biggrin.gif Maybe play over weekend only, no time...LOL.

So far my Wii U library:
1) Super Mario 3D World
2) NintendoLand
3) MarioKart 8
4) Bayonetta 2
5) Captain Toad (Digital)
6) Wii U Sports (Tennis pass) - (Digital)

And tons of Wii games....brows.gif

btw, i discovered you can run GameCube games with Dolphin emulator on the PC(haven't try emulators for a very long time) quiet nicely...supposely can run Wii games as well, but didn't try. Luigi Mansion and WaveStorm runs quiet nicely... works fine with an XBOX360 controller on my PC. Mario Sunshine kinda sucks though...no sound or bad sound/music and not very smooth...ah well, at least now i know how it looks like.

Gotta catch up on all the landmark games...LOL.

Anything else nice to buy on eShop? My balance left USD 0.01....doh.gif...need to buy more...

In terms of getting retail games, I find Deanwong from Lelong to be the most reliable source for Wii U games, based on my search. Others that are OK include Saveall and Impulse, since they have a few games that are cheaper than some of Deanwong's offerings. Online Game Store looks to have nice deals with games, but it seems that the ones I want are out of stock already.

Curve Studios is currently having a discount. I got Stealth Inc. 2, but now I am not sure what should I get between The Swapper and Lone Survivor. Any suggestions?

Thanks for reading.

yeah...got my console and my latest bayonetta 2 game from him too. Personally met him once to do COD for the console. Ok lah him, patience with helping me setup the Wii mod thingy via whatsapp...but the nunchak i bought from him together with the WiiMote plus doesn't comes in a box and the nunchak seems lighther than another nunchak i bought elsewhere later...not sure if ori or not....so if buy hardware, just better buy at shops like GH for WiiMotes and other accessories. Games can get from him. I just bought the last copy of Bayonetta 2 from him. tongue.gif

Hi, new here, just get a Wii U (RM 1.2K) last weekend in lowyat plaza

only have 4 game and 2 amiibo for now,
1) Super Mario 3D World
2) NintendoLand
3) Super Smash Bros
4) Bayonetta 2

Any Idea where can I find other shop around KL area (any place LRT can reach) that sell physical copy of Wii U game and also the digital cash reload card , been finding for Zelda and Hyrule Warriors

Thanks
*
Its very hard to find stores selling WIIU games, just buy online. Easier. No need to waste time.

Look for WiiSeller, Impuls and KhetLong(for e-shop cards) in the Garage sales section.

Just tried Bayonetta 1 yesterday. It's actually better than my XBOX360 version. The XB360 version has screen tearing, PS3 version was the worst.

Still haven't try Bayonetta 2 yet...must finish 1 b4 play 2. biggrin.gif

Well, better to ask how many games on Wiiu that you interested to play. If you got more than 5 games interested to play then I think its worth it.

Btw, the new console will not be released so soon yet. The earliest will be around 2017 I think. The year cycle between Wii(2006) to Wiiu(2012) is 6 years. The wiiu age is only around 3 years for now.  biggrin.gif

Nintendo might comes out a new console sooner this round given that the WiiU is not selling as well as it hoped. Maybe in 2 years time tops. Anyway, the first party Nintendo games is already worth it...its not that I have so much money buying tons of junk 3rd party games every month anyway....cross platform games I play on PC...buying from STEAM is a lot cheaper than consoles like Ps or xb....

Haha sorry just noticed it.  doh.gif  notworthy.gif

After reading your awesome FAQ, I have another question about the external drive. Do you have any recommendations on brands or type of external hdd to get? Should I buy self-powered hdd or those small portable external hdd?
*
No need self powered hdd. Too messy. I have this WD Passport external HDD. Works fine with single connection. No need external power. Just get this.
