Latest Talon 0.3.1 is really really fast, using EDB right now with Go Launcher and it's smooth as a baby's butt.

Try restarting your router or setting up manual IP address in the connection. It might be DHCP or IP address conflicts etc.

Never got the wifi issue. Seems to affect only certain users.

I clear my dalvik cache and cache everytime I flash anything. That might explain why some drivers are not working as the drivers might be cached.
