The paint seller recommend me to buy a 18L for sealant which is sufficient for entire house. But it also depends on your existing paint condition.

My painter advice me interior no need sealant, only require for exterior only. But same as u, interior i got hack and wiring with new plastering wall....

Dear Bro,

18L should be sufficient to cover approximate 1600-2000 sqft @ 1 layer based on the Technical Data....

Any new plastered wall shall applied sealant... This is to prevent moisture to appear in your wall surface as well as prevent fungus and etc...

Opps btw bro, is Sealer and not sealant ya... Cheers

I was quoted for workmanship + material for the entire house both interior and exterior (inclusive of repainting of all the in grille and main gate) for 7K....

Chosen
Nippon Weatherbond for exterior
Nippon Odourless Premium for bed rooms
Nippon Satin Glo for my living + dining + small room at the ground floor
Nippon High Gloss for my grilles

Color type will be like 5-6 different type of colors

p/s: It includes skim coat for the entire house (interior)

I saw the reply here saying that there is a need for sealant. Whether the sealant is different than skim coat? Please advice.....

Firstly, I guess there is typo error here... The right terms is Sealer not Sealant...

Sealer and Skim Coat are two different things.... Just some hints for you guys here, The White Skim Coat can only be used indoor where-by low moisture area... External Area, there are some others "Skim Coating" products... Anyhow, I would suggest to use cement based material...

Added on June 23, 2011, 10:36 amJust some additional hints to everyone here, if your Painter, Tukang Cat is experienced enough, they could advice you whether the Paint has been expired or vice versa...

Actually paint have a shelf life....

Meaning those of my paint is those old type of brand paint? I really not that experience on this actually..... Sealer is needed for both internal and external? Or actually nowadays the paint already come with the same effect?
*
Hi bro,

Not old type of brand... But the expiry date just like canned food you bought from TESCO and etc...

Sealer only required to new wall or wash-down wall...

Paint system = Sealer / Undercoat + 2-4 layer of Weather Shied Paint (External) or 2-4 layer of emulsion paint (Internal)

bro,

7-8 barrel x 18L = 144L x 10m2/L @ 1 layer = 1,440m2 +/- 15,500 sqft say wastage @ 20% = 12,400 sqft... Wa Lau, your house Bungalow ah?

Bro,

12,400 sqft is a lot bro... usually floor to wall ratio is 2 - 2.5 times... Your is 4 times... Is a lot bro...

By the way, rough surface doesn't take much sealer... Anyhow I not too sure the roughness you mentioned here...

Friend,

I suggest your do a rough measurement of wall plastered wall surface and compare against the total Sealer used...
