no problem if its on the surface as most new laminate products are water repellent. just make sure that no sides of the laminate is exposed to water. seal the intersection of the sink so that water wont sip in.

oh i missed that. im not sure about its characteristics as ive not used it before. but ive read that they are rigid and can withstand impact of daily usage. mostly used as working desk tops
