I live in Penang but study in Shah Alam, therefore I have to apply visa in KL..this is so troublesome, why don't just let me apply in Penang because right now is holiday and I'm doing internship in Penang. One more thing, do they required official confirmation status from university stating that I'm a student in KL embassy?

Not very sure about the confirmation status from the Uni.

However, you DON"T need to get it done yourself. You could appoint a travel agent to do it for you. The travel agent will be able to advise you further on the requirement for students travelling to Japan.

As even if you sending the application to the embassy yourself, you still need to wait 3 days for it to be approved.

Yup..i'm trying to find an agent right now.. do u guys know any travel agents around Penang which can do the visa? And how much do they charge?

From my understanding, any travel agents can do Japan visa for you with a service charge.

You will need to activate your ATM card for overseas transaction. For example :
What kind of travel interest do you have? (religion, food, history, old culture, pop culture or etc)
*
My interest are on pop culture, history, old culture, anime and manga. Maybe I will only go to places around Tokyo only. Have any suggestion?

Tokyo hard to see old culture...the last most old building for those geisha performs also demolish already....200 years old building gone like that.

Old culture must go Kyoto.

If focus on Tokyo...5 days 4 night at Japan ....enough go Hakone for 1 night.

Hakone must go area!!!

considering I'm a student, how much will it cost from Tokyo to Hakone? because my budget is around rm2500 only. Since shinkasen will cost a lot

^thank you for the information. it's very helpful. should definitely be included in the main page FAQ..

anyway, any of you guys ever spent the night at haneda? is it alright or safe to sleep there? I'll be arriving around 1045pm. another option i'm thinking about is staying at a nearby manga cafe (if there is any) while waiting for the morning train.. think it's a good idea? i heard homeless people usually stay there.
*
Good question, me and my friends are also going to sleep at Haneda before the next morning. Is it okay?

nope, i'm going in 3 months time. so i'm doing all the research now in advance.
but still for me the timeframe seems too tight. if there's any delay/mistake i may end up stranded.
sleeping at haneda or manga cafe just sounds like a feasible option and can save money too...
so i'm really considering it.
*
Same reasons too. If got delayed or any problems waiting for the luggage might cost us if we booked hostel at that night. As a precaution, better we stay at Haneda first and the next morning we can travel to town after the densha resume operation

Japan Hotel 90% are checked in time are 3pm......check out time are 12pm. So after you overnight in Haneda Airport...next morning 7am you wake up...from this 7am to 3pm what you doing to do with your luggage? bring it alone shopping too?  LOL

Even let you arrive Japan by Air Asia at 11.45PM...you success take last train to Tokyo city...check in hotel at 1am ...tomorrow after 12am auto charge you one day room money. feel very no worth!!

That why I never take Air Asia to Japan.  Most best still EVA Air to Japan. Taoyuan or Sungshan Airport also daily 7 flight to Haneda or Narita or Kansai. You can choose any time to reach Japan.

Thanks for the suggestion. We already contacted the hostel, and they said before check in time, we can keep the luggage there because they have luggage holding service.
