The general consensus is no, as there are many who can swipe overseas without informing the bank.

However, I would always recommend to make a local call to CS before you fly off to notify them. It is always better in case your overseas transactions are declined. Or worse, you want to check out from hotel and stuck, while you are rushing for an important meeting or flight home. Then you have to make international roaming calls back to MY CC-banks. Can you imagine the stress, costs, extra time, etc. as compared to a simple local call ?

yea all decline and had to use others.

for all these yrs with Citi,CIMB, now OCBC all no need to call before going.

No. They don't. It happened to me before and i got the 5% weekend rebate. It was for a MAS ticket if my memory serves me correctly.

oh is it, then maybe they changed then, i did pump petrol on sunday but posting date was on monday, so i didn't get the rebates

I received a reply from Maybank this morning regarding the MBB2 AMEX 5% weekend cash back. See below :

[attachmentid=2378549]

Anyway, i don't get what they mean here > Nevertheless, if the 30th or 31st (weekend), the cash back for the said transaction is based the posting date and it will calculate for the next month cash back.

i also emailed them n see wats their reply soon. just got reply as they ask for my IC n last 4 card no.

Hmm, the rebates for transactions made on the last day of the month (weekend) will be given next month, unless the merchant post it on the same day.
[/quote]
I think the Maybank CS replied my email was trying to say that if the posting date is on the same day, the cash back will be carried forward to the next month. However, if the posting date is a day or two after the transaction date (in my case which was on Monday and Tuesday respectively), i get nothing! cry.gif vmad.gif
