im eager to learn this tablet things as my exposure to this segment is very limited. I wanna buy one, but still not deciding what tablet shd i buy. read from few sources that Galaxy tab 10.1 in coming, but not sure the price.

If you guys were to buy a tablet, shd you wait for Galaxy tab or just this this simply awesome TF?
*
depends back on u... do u need the keyboard? cos if u don, then u should go for Galaxy Tab, as our TF design, all the USB ports are at the keyboard, so u need to dock to use the USB support but galaxy tab need the adapter or something eh?... apart from that, it's just slight difference in software, hardware spec is the same
alternatively, u can look at Acer Iconia... i think that one will already have the USB ports there

we all bought this babe cos we love hardware keyboard XD

Galaxy Tab build in have USB port ???? i don't think so man ...

but yeah, bought this babe due to its ability to Transform. Although i don't use the dock daily, but i do appreciate the Transformation when i use it. Its a very solid solution smile.gif

my bad... go thru wiki and check just now only notice need adapter... already edited my post...

plus, we can get the "laptop experience" with splashtop too... lazy lazy lying on bed with TF, just remote to laptop and control it from TF, just tested it last night.. nice, but need improvement cos it's low quality color, and stream was kinda laggy, and u cannot run full screen applications

From user experience point of view, I would say ipad is better than TF. Why? Not totally Asus's fault but also google.

Imagine that, I don't have to worry about common apps (such as skype) can't be downloaded from appstore, if it is restricted to region, you can simply get a US account and that's it, you don't have to hack here and there, passing thru this proxy that proxy to get access to the market.

Where the experience of using this tablet, I would say bad... first it comes with the market issue where you can't even download the flash player (ya, this sounds lame) and it keep asking you to download. Application keep crashing, keyboard lagging issue in the default browser. Since we have one default browser, why should I pay for dolphin or some other 3rd party browser? Just because of keyboard lagging? Compare this against safari in apple, no such problem.

There are a lot more issues than the above mentioned but I will just stop here.

Anyway, I am a TF, ipad and iphone user too.
*
same here, TF + iPhone user too... i do agree to what u said, but i kinda having fun flashing my TF to different kernal/roms for now... tweaking this and that so that my TF would be more unique, i been missing the fun of this since i changed to iPhone
while i actually bought TF and expect booming amount of games for tegra, this hasnt been realized yet, so i guess i'll just have to wait while my iPhone delivers more variety of games for me..
with that, i would say, if u just want simplicity with the compensation of less choice for tweaking and needs to jailbreak the device for more options, iPad would be better, from what i see, android is more about giving more choice and control to users

QUOTE(xenon_aniki @ Jun 21 2011, 06:16 PM)
Yup, iPad might be better choice. But i feel that too many people around me having an iPad. I want to try android product or just wanna support android, by buying their product, so that they have enuf money to do more research and make it a better standard. I still believe future will be android/open OS.  biggrin.gif
At least i will still can see a healthy competition in Tablet market
*
yes, the fun will start in Ice-Cream Sandwich i think, where fragmentation ended and we wouldn't have limitations on apps are not compatible with phones or tablet.. i still hope we can get native AC3 support, along with more performance boost so that we can play generic HD contents without the need of decoding

Softwaredevelopers for Ipad spend time to build an app and after that Apple will decide if it gets to the market or not.
Giving a company ( Apple ) the power to decide what people can do with their devices would be a big mistake.
The creative developers and the consumers should decide what the future will look like and not a company which only motivation is making money. That's why I will stick with Android, avoid contact with apple products and hope the TF will become known as an ipad-killer.

i thought it already is?

this one is out of stock everywhere before this, like the iPad, since it's one of the first tablet that doesnt jack up the price..

is the tablet can connect straight to LCD tv?
I mean we no need a dock to connect to LCD tv right?
how about the cable?
*
u need to get a Mini-HDMI cable -> standard HDMI cable to get it work, the HDMI output on our tablet is a Mini HDMI port.. and yes, u don need the keyboard dock as the HDMI output port is located at the tablet itself

It only started to happen the last 2-3 days. It happens even after i disconnect, then connect back to keyboard dock. Both battery levels are full.

might be caused by some driver constantly crash and force TF to restart

try one thing, Root your TF(no need install CWM recovery), install Titanium Backup, backup everything, this will backup everything into your SD card, so that u don lost your apps/settings when u flash firmwares/roms and reflash the firmware.. see if it works.. after that u can just root again and u can restore everything usint Titanium Backup

guys, i wanna know which 1 is good? backup via CWM Recovery or backup via Titanium? I wanna try Clemsyn-Blade kernel 11 which comes with Voodoo sound..
*
if u are just flashing kernal no need backup, cos kernal doesnt affect ur user data, tested multiple time, been using it since v8, and flashing around to see performance difference... last night just hit 4k in quadrant using version 10 release, havent tried version 11 yet XD

i see..what if I want to flash stock kernel back? Last night I read Blade manage to get 4k++ with latest kernel and everyone was like WTFBBQ in that thread. LOL
I'm hoping Asus publish the 3.1 source since most of the dev stuck in the area especially battery indicator. So now I know why there only few custom ROM surfaced compared to others.Or Asus wait for HC3.2? biggrin.gif
*
someone posted the stock 3.1 kernal as well.. same here, i also hope asus will faster post the source code for 3.1.. and afaik, not just battery indicator, there's also no NTFS support in Clemsyn's kernal for now

cikiko, are u in custom kernal or custom rom?
previously Clemsyn-Blade kernal will cause browser to crash if your overclock setting is not so stable

heh heh... they add a network port. smile.gif

but ya, i have heard of the dock being compatible with future models, including the padfone. but they were not from Asus directly... so, i assume those to be all just speculation. smile.gif
*
asus also did made some statement like that... i recall it's during the TF announcement.... anyway if the Tegra 3 TF is coming out with same price tag, i might sell mine and get the new TF instead

Hey what do you mean my OC? Overclock?

avtually, the stock player can play the HD movie smoothly using hardware accelarion, but somehow it cant decode the audio... so....
*
yes, overclocking... i know what u are talking about, cos the audio codec is AC3, and sadly say, we don have AC3 audio in our compatible hardware decode... we need some brilliant app that can do hardware for video and software for audio lol...

How to copy file into my TF and what is the best movie player?
*
u can just connect ur TF to the PC using the cable and it should detect TF already, alternatively u can copy to SD card then plug into the TF as well..
as for video player, i am mostly using Mobo player

can u check what channel your modem is using? previously my router(unifi) auto set to channel 13 and i cant seem to connect as well, but after changing to channel 9, it can connect without issue already

got my ASUS TF last night. light bleed quite obvious, but like a few forumers said b4, dont bother and you'll happy.

im happy now.
anyone of you has the TF leather case or any case?
where can i get it other than online? thanks!

anyway, early assumption for this TF
1) design simply astounding
2) Honeycomb is really different compare to 2.X android (presentation wise)
3) Pretty fast load and smooth transition
4) battery quite fast drain
*
hmm.. battery quite fast drain? by fast u mean how fast?

its not 9 hours just like being told (tablet alone). it only about 7 hrs. Anyway maybe some of back end processing i i dunno can cause the drainage
*
i dunno about it lar, never really time my usage, but note that those are 'controlled usage' in the spec, like laptops, they often claim 5 hours, but IRL it only last 3:30 hour for real life scenario usage, so IMO, 7 hours usage is quite ok

ya, i just went to check out skype website.

skype for ios (iGadgets) has got video... the download page for ios even says "Skype for iPhone – now with video"

still no such luck with Skype for Android. i guess that might come in future versions.
*
updates will eventually come for us, cos right now from what i see for US the trend is still prioritizing for iOS stuffs for their software, but i don think it's gonna be a long wait for us to have video call on skype tho

the TF should be fully charged after about 2-3hours. but you probably see it as 99%. you can consider it as fully charged.

personally, sometimes i dun even wait for full charge... smile.gif

as for playing rmv files (this is the TVB movies, isit?), I use MoboPlayer. When I launch MoboPlayer, i just point to the folder where my movie files are stored -- usually i leave them on the microSD card.

(i think -- recalling from memory) you need to browse all the way to the top folder... and look for removable and then look for microSD then then your movie folder... i

alternatively, just tap on the SD card icon at the notification tray and click on that 'folder' icon
