iconia is kinda heavy though, so make sure you know about that. Holding it for a long while will be very tiring. Even my TF aslo, after a while feel like resting my palm or change hands. I fully enjoy reading news on my massage chair and breakfast I dock it so I can eat and read at the same time in instead of touch the screen, I use the touch pad to scroll.. is so usefull actually. When in dock, if kinda lazy to scroll with the touch screen due to the upright position..

Btw, when I called Asus Malaysia last time, they already informed me that the first batch after those 150 will be given to Gadgetzone as priority. So, I was lucky because not only I was one of the 1st 150 in facebook, I also put a booking in gadget zone gurney plaza penang. I called Asus because I cant go to KL to collect and they ask me to wait and go to gadget zone. A week after that, I got mine with the doc combo. Well, people at gadget zone dont know about the product much. They dont even know that it can transformed to a netbook. I dont blame them, product it too new. Learn more reading the review and forum. So you may try gadget zone...

Acer cuts tablet shipments by 60 per cent
Battles in a crowded market
By Chris Martin
Wed Jun 15 2011, 16:05 TAIWANESE HARDWARE OUTFIT Acer has announced a 60 per cent cut to its target for tablet shipments this year.

According to a report at Reuters, Chairman JT Wang told reporters after a shareholders meeting that the new target for tablet shipments is 2.5 to 3 million instead of the 5 to 7 million set at the beginning of the year.

Acer is expected to sell 800,000 tablets in both the third and fourth quarters of this year. This number seems pretty insignificant when you consider that the Ipad 2 sold one million units over its first weekend.

"The third quarter will be considerably more stable. It will be similar to the second quarter or better," Wang said at the meeting. "The fourth quarter will be even better."

Acer is engaged in what's proving to be a busy and difficult battle for tablet market share. Its range of devices includes tablets running both Windows and the Android operating system.

The Iconia Tab W500 seems to have had the biggest advertising push and is a hybrid between a tablet and a netbook. Whilst this might be a clever idea and appeal to consumers torn between the two it has some stiff competition.

Apart from the fact that every tablet is being compared to the Ipad 2, its main rival is the Asus Eee Pad Transformer, which is another hybrid that runs Google's Android operating system. The Transformer has had much better reviews - we gave it 10 out of 10 at The INQUIRER - and is cheaper, so it's a no brainer to choose between the two unless you can't live without Windows.

Other than tablets Acer has a number of new laptops coming out including the Ethos and Timelinex series. It also has one of the first Chromebooks that will come to the market in the UK, but we'll have to wait and see how popular these will prove to be. µ

Now i understand you guys frustration with the asus keyboard. It is indeed terribly laggy and poor response especially posting on lowyat forum. I must say is a big difference vs the iconia which is smooth responsive similar to normal typing
I am now running asus honeycomb 3.1 on my iconia. Anyway i solve the lag issue by replacing it with stevelin gingerbread keyboard, at least is now close to the original iconia keyboard

Tested the app, didn't work on tf especially add reply function. The quick reply already improved a bit with updated flash 10.3 recently. I guess we need honeycomb update.

We can check what apps running. And if you have too many apps running in background, well the battery life i guess will be shorter even if you dont use it. I checked and ilet them run especially those widgets. The more widgets you enable all of them will run in background. So i never use task killer in my android devices anymore.
My guess on other browser no lag depending on flash support or enabled or not.

Today i had farthers day lunch and was reading news while docked. The people on ghe other table were talking and i over heard that they talked about my netbook wit touch screen. Later my son said wanna play games and so i undocked and you guys should see how the people on other table reacted. Honestly, they haven't seen such product before. A few HD games made them feels even imprest. They didnt ask me what it is, so i just keep quite.

The best video player i think now is Vplayer. Can really play many type of video format and can select the audio track and subtitles. But only 7 days trial. Got to buy.

I can play my video file from USB port without any problem... Just plug and run from File Manager..
*
I recommen Vplayer instead. But MOBO is free and Vplayer has 7 days trial. But you can google around if you know what I mean. I'll perhaps buy the Vplayer once expired.

The reason, Vplayer really can play lots of format. Honestly, I have not tried RMVB.. but MKV, AVI, WMV etc all ok.

But the HD version will lag... really need next honeycomb update to fix this I guess.

Most of these players will lag in HD due to the usage of software decoders, rather than hardware ones, which drain battery more and aren't as capable. The most you can do is OC the processor to reduce the lag somewhat.
*
Hey what do you mean my OC? Overclock?

avtually, the stock player can play the HD movie smoothly using hardware accelarion, but somehow it cant decode the audio... so....

yes, overclocking... i know what u are talking about, cos the audio codec is AC3, and sadly say, we don have AC3 audio in our compatible hardware decode... we need some brilliant app that can do hardware for video and software for audio lol...
*
Exactly... hopefully got such app soon .. or update from Asus on this and dont have to wait for Google.. tongue.gif
