don think so, cos the device reads recovery/update files from the built in memory card slot, even last time when the stock 3.1 is leaked, ppl also update it by putting the leaked firmware into the memory card... if you don have a memory card, my suggestion is to get one, since u might be needing it anyways..

btw those who reencoded their videos to make it play nicely on transformer, what software u used?
*
i use formatfactory (google it and it is freeware) to convert to divx/xvid, bitrate 2400/2500 then use yamb (google it again) to split the mp4 files to two parts so that it can be played/loaded up in rockplayer / moboplayer software decoding mode. seems that these players cannot "see" or load anything above 2gb of size, hence the splitting. Minor inconvenience but it works and you will get super smooth playback with 0 lags or jerkiness. You can play in hardware mode too but u will notice (like myself) that there is a minor lag / jerkiness in the video, the audio sync is ok but the video is somewhat jerky so this is the best method i've found so far to have smooth playback.

i updated some information on Pg1. please feedback so we can make it useful.

also, the games listing needs more feedback. smile.gif

GameBoid, and some other cool emulators from YongZh, more emus over here:
https://slideme.org/user/yongzh
*SlideMe is a third party market, so it's not some warez link. However, if mods still think this link should not be posted, please do let me know, i'll remove it

for File Manager, Astro File Manager is not bad, it has grid based view, which is rather similar to typical windows file manager

hmmm... what is ad-hoc? is it one-to-one device like what is available on windows.
*
ad-hoc also known as peer to peer networking

the wifi router u use at home are called infrastructure mode. Certain phone's hotspot are capable of infrastructure mode, therefor Transformer will have no problem connecting to those as it is identical to connecting to the wifi router at your home.

However, certain phone/apps that creates hotspot for your phone does not actually support infrastructure mode, the hotspot created are normally ad-hoc mode. Exactly like what littlekev's problem above, he create hotspot via Iphone, transformer don't see it (cuz dun support adhoc) but pc laptops all sees it (cuz window support both adhoc and infrastructure mode natively)

Solution:
For non-rooted users: Too bad, find a proper infrastructure wifi network unless your Phone are able to tether via bluetooth. Your transformer is able to connect to bluetooth tether smile.gif

For rooted users: read this Ad Hoc Wifi Hack and enjoy , actually this hack is available for most android phones/tabs smile.gif

still no way to support AC3 playback on our device? i start to hate Asus for not getting more license on codecs, look at Sammy, can already play almost everything out of the box for the codecs they bought...

native playback i think cannot but no choice la, this is software issue, since we can use moboplayer / rockplayer as alternative, i dont see it an issue for me but quite troublesome to reencode the videos then need to split it again some more, but to me as long as it works, a bit trouble is fine although i prefer native playback for sure smile.gif

Oh yes, that's what I heard from rumors too. Sad!!!

Added on June 6, 2011, 12:05 pmJust tested with my friend's iphone 4 native wifi hotspot, it will broadcast itself as infrastructure mode (router) instead of adhoc / peer-to-peer network. TF can detect it without problem.

So now the conclusion is, either i change iphone 4 or root my TF. :|

Haha... the cheapest solution is for me to root my TF first and use it with my iphone 3gs.

1) u go to asus global, find Transformer page, click download, then select ur OS as "Android"
2) download the WW firmware(remember to double confirm it's WW, not TW nor US),it's a zip file, and it's gonne be around 200+ MB if i remember correctly
3) after finish download, extract it out the zip file, u will see a folder "Asus", with some contents inside
4) copy the whole "Asus" folder to your memory card's root
5) take out the memory card
6) put it back in
7) u will see the notification there, it will have a triangle notification saying "System File Detected"
8) tap on it, and it will say "Tap to confirm upgrade" or something similar
9) tap on it, after a few confirmation message, it will start reboot and flashing.
10) have fun thumbup.gif

this flashing method will keep all your apps and data, so don worry about losing them, also, u can downgrade your firmware using this method as well
for unrooting, i think need to adb push the stock blob back to the device, this method as i recall will not work
